Suggestion: Name Change for New Users

    I've noticed a lot of newer users asking for name changes, and I think that every new member should have to wait 3 months or so to be able to change their name. This shouldn't be too overwhelming if you set different requirements such as so many posts, etc. Or if this can't/wont be done their should at least be something next to username in bolded text saying that the username you enter wont be able to be changed. The main reason for this is because when new members start they usually choose really noobish names (such as my original account name weavile3...) and most people, if they become active, might wish to change to something a little better as I (and many others here) have.

    I'm not really talking about every user, just the few new users that have become active but wish to get rid of their noobish names if they have one, or at least have a chance to change once.
     
    I hope that it gets reimplemented so I canchange my name to Shining Latios.

    Yes, but out of how many people actually post and become active for up to three months?
     
    If the admins agree to this, I'm going to kill myself. Why? Because I just made a new account today. ;'O So yeah, LOL. My old account is vietazn654, and I don't like it. XD And I joined in February.
     
    It's unlikely.. even a single name change can stress the serves. D:

    Because when you change a username, it has to change that username in ever single place, post, thread, etc that it appears in. If a newbie does want a new name so badly, then they should make a new account before their current account gains too many posts / gets too well known.
     
    Same here. G and Virus are good nicknames that come for me with this username xD.
     
    i dont think the name changes should come back just for new members. when they sign up they should choose a name that they like and not want to change right away. if they do there account is so new it doesnt matter if they make a new account. they have hardly any posts.
     
    Don't like your username? Make a new account, that's just all there is to it. That system is the same for everyone, old members, new members, ones with high post counts, ones with low post counts, ones who are active, and ones who are inactive.
    Ok, so someone joined without putting any thought into their name... well, sorry, but live with the name or give up your posts/VMs and make a new account. Because that's all there is to it, we no longer do name changes, no ifs ands or buts.
     
    Who honestly joins a forum and just expects it to have a username change feature? I can't think of one I've been on that hasn't disabled it at some point, not because it puts stress on the server, but because it results in confusion and abuse of the feature. If you choose a bad username, you... shouldn't have chosen a bad username. It's not hard. Alternatively, live with your mistakes.

    I agree that some names can make their holder unpleased, but the only way is unfortunately to just make an other account.
    Maybe the staff could review all the members but this is truly gonna take time and delete those they are sure aren't going to come back. That way the server gets lightened, but yeah.
    As for the name changes, I don't think it's gonna happen because I'm pretty sure it will take time to change everything for just a single name. .__.
