I reserve certain nicknames for certain pokemon, like:

Charmander: Flambeau, meaning beautiful flame, is named after Father Brown's sidekick in the G.K. Chesterton stories.

Slowpoke: Aguamenti, the water jet spell from Harry Potter, roughly translated as 'mind/mental/psyche water' basically, water brought into being through mental force, which suits a psychic water type.

Sandile/Gallade: NahmanJayden, after the FBI profiler in Heavy Rain, he has a heavy, slightly awkward Bostonian accent, given to him by English actor, Leon Ockenden, so he doesn't say 'Norman.' While his personality would likely make him a psychic/fighting type like Gallade, Sandile's sunglasses membrane reminds me of the ARI system Nahman uses.

Numel: Colhumpbo, the smoking camel, named after Columbo.

Sceptile/Dratini/Garchomp (female): Morrigan, the name of my leopard gecko, and my favourite character in the Dragon Age series.

    Gastly: (Lady) Macdeath, self explanatory.

What about you? Any reoccurring nicknames?

I usually always call my Gardevoir "Niyoko." Although, in my current play-through I named her Midori! *gasp*

I also name every Jolteon I get "Nitro" which is a variation of 'nitrous.'

Other than that, other pokémon I use I nickname what I see fit. Actually, one time I named my entire Hoenn team with "E" names!

I've always named my Pidgey Digit. I'm not entirely sure why, but I just stuck with it when I was younger. I can't even remember when I first started such a trend. I also always name my Flygon Skye-chan. I love this name so much too. It's so cute and fits her as well. ^^

All other pokemon get named after people I like (celebs) or my friends. XD

Similarly, I always name my Pidgey PJ, a trend that began many years ago and that has inexplicably stuck.

I name my starter after my player character's name, and I always name my Pikachu Sparky (except in Yellow, where it gets named after my player character). If it's not my starter, I generally name my Squirtle/Blastoise Blaster, though I ended up mixing it up in X and combining "Blaster" with my player character's name (I guess since Squirtle felt like a starter based on when it was obtained, but I already had nicknamed my first starter). I think there are other names that I tend to use a lot (e.g., Bulby or Solar for my Bulbasaur), but some are coincidental rather than planned.

The Aguamenti suggestion someone mentioned above is a good one for the Slowpoke/Slowbro line. Maybe I'll go with that the next time I train one of those.

I always call my Totodile "Jaws", same with any other shark-like Pokemon. When on occasion I find a Bagon, I always name it "Bagel"

I always name my Gyarados 'Neptidus' (Neptune + tide + Latin 'us' ending), I think that's the only consistent name I have across games.

I usually always name my Pokémon after figures in Greek mythology. There are so many cool names to choose from that fit so many Pokémon so it's usually my go-to naming system.

I like mythology too. I've had a Jigglypuff called Calliope, a Murkrow called Hecate, a Pidgey called Hera, and my current Houndoom is Artemis.

My Bagons are always called Beergone.

I usually always name my Castform, Cloud, because that was the name I gave my first ever Castform and it just has become a habit with me. Otherwise I have no set nicknames and usually end up naming my Pokemon after PC members or characters from my favorite TV shows 8)

Sometimes, I give nicknames to certain Pokémon that reference the real world or pop culture.

Two nicknames I can think of right away that I always give the following Pokémon:
*Bellsprout/Weepinbell/Victreebel (female): Ma Bell (after the American telephone monopoly that was broken up by the federal government in 1984 as the result of a major antitrust lawsuit).
*Ponyta/Rapidash (male): Mr. Ed (after the talking horse that starred in the 1960s sitcom named for him).

I tend to nickname any Wonder Trade fodder (either jokes like Zubat and Magikarp, or extra hatchlings) things Arceus, Genesect, Diancie, Hoopa, etc.

I have nicknamed several HM Slaves exactly what they are. HM Slave. It's actually logical for me to do so, as over time, boxes build up and I lose track of who has what moveset.

I like naming weaker Pokemon powerful names. Bidoof is usually 'The Creator'. I also usually name Treecko 'Mick Jagger'.

I've named every female Gardevoir i ever had according to stuff related to other female VG characters with names such as "Alia", "Mariah", "Selena", "Serene", and "Arwen"

For Blaziken, names such as "Kenshiro" (like my AS Starter, named after Hokuto no Ken's main protagonist), "KungPow" (referencing Kung Pow, a movie-spoof on Chinese martial arts movies), and "Chuck" (referencing Chuck Norris).

I named my Diancie "Dianne" because originality was non-existent when i got "her". Also, i don't care if the thing is "Genderless" by game standards, but after seeing the Diancie movie, i couldn't resist.

As for HM Slaves, exactly what it says on the label. I remember Wingull being my favorite so i named it "SurfnTurf" as a reference to both Surf and Fly as well as the kind of dish that usually involves fish and meat.

I always like my Froakie and eventual evolutions Frankie, I just like the sounds of Frankie the Froakie lol

I also like to name my Pidove, Falco (after the Smash character), though it is geared more for Tranquill and Unfezant, and Timburr gets named Ike (also after smash character lol), for its awesome attack power
