[Other] New face to the PC!

Hi guys. Im new to the PC and I must say, you guys are awesome, nvr thought i could meet such friendly people over the tough guy internet these days :p

Anyways,
I use to map and script alot for a game called "tibia". Im pretty sure I cant give a link to the game. Idk for sure though but you can google it if you want to see what im talking about. The tools I used was "Remeres map editor". My point here is Ive had experience doing everything you do to make a pokemon rom hack just, ive never made a pokemon rom hack. So I ask you, the community, if anyone is kind enough to give me some pointers, tools that are used, the best base to use for your game, etc. I would appreicate all the help I can get, I tried looking up youtube videos but, how do i put this, those guys making videos are not very good at teaching somebody something lol I had an easier time studying quantom physics :p

Wow. Thanks this is very helpful. I do have one problem though. Ive been searching for an answer but cant find one. Every single link I go to, even if i manually go to the site myself, I cant download the advanced map editor. Ive tried everything. Disabled my firewall, allowed the site on my broswers exceptions list, etc. I can download XSE, trainer editor, lunar ips and so on. Just not advanced map editor. Idk what to do. I have RPGmaker but It seems advanced map is the better tool...

The link works for me. You're trying to download Advance Map, right?

Hold on, advancemap and RPGmaker are COMPLETELY different things. Amap edits maps of a pokemon game, RPG maker helps create a new game, a .exe file.
