New generation announced??

I'm just hoping for a fewer evolutions for past Pokemon then last time when like half the sinnoh pokemon were new evolutions and Legendaries. And only one pre evo is needed and it's for kangaskhan.

I haven't played my DS in a couple months because of boredom. I hope this will get me into the playing mood.

It wil be on the DS.

The rate at which generations are released isn't directly based on when new generations of consoles are released. They may influence it, but they aren't going to delay a new generation a couple of years, simply because they want it to be on a new console.

It's clear that a new console will be appearing at a time which is too late for Pokemon's fifth generation, so if they released the fifth generation next year, or the year after, it would probably fail due to the DS being outdated too quickly.

I perdict pokemon ranger style graphics with side view battle system. Or maybe 3-d pokemon battle system where they attack and move around on their own, but you can also issue orders.

I wonder how they will deal with the fact that the game will not be compatible with HG/SS or D/P/PT because of the new pokemon, even though it's on the same console?

In the future make these posts in the NEW Generation 5 thread that's stickied. It'll be compatible though. Second and first generation were compatible despite New pokemon. It just means Gen 5 pokemon or Gen 1-4 pokemon with new moves won't be able to be sent back.

Yeah it's pretty good that 5th gen. will be on DS instead of another new system because I was tired of buying a new system after a new gen was released!
