New opening

    I thought it would be alright to have it separate from the episode discussion because I thought some people don't always keep up with every episode, but might want to talk about the new opening. Also, we've had separate discussions about the Japanese openings and endings. If not, sorry!

    Galactic Battle opening

    I really like the tune to it, but some of the lyrics don't match up to the scenes at all, more so than usual. For example, "But deep inside, you know you're strong" when Cyrus, the villain, is on screen. XD

    They don't use any scenes from the Japanese openings or endings, which has never happened with a dub opening before except with the Pokemon Chronicles opening. I think I like this opening better than High Touch!, mainly because the synthesiser-like sounds in High Touch! sound horrible and the tune isn't very good (although my opinion on the song changes when Rica Matsumoto starts singing haha), and the animation is much better. I wonder why they didn't use any animation at all from High Touch, since the Team Galactic scene was very cool; it was one scene I was actually expecting PUSA/PCI to keep. However, I like that PCI have a scene with Barry in, whereas the Japanese opening doesn't, when he could really fit into the scene with Ash's rivals. But it's still sad that the dub will never see those scenes from the Japanese opening.

    Well, I wasn't expecting the dub to have a duet or anything, that's almost as funny as expecting the dub to have a symphonic melody of the dub openings for the 8th opening XD

    I think this is my second favourite PUSA/PCI opening so far, my favourite is probably Battle Frontier, after Galactic Battle is Battle Dimension, and DP has to be the worst opening Pokemon has ever had (apart from the Chronicles opening).

    What does everyone else think?

    I freaking laughed my head off as I thought whoa when the hell did we land in the 80s? And I have seen fan AMVs better then this. Overall I hated it. Poor job by Pusa(or is it TPCI? XD) And nothing I repeat nothing can beat the galactic scene in high touch. For Pokemon at least.
     
    It's too bad that AMV quality is used as an insult, because I've seen some amazing ones made with Sony Vegas, but you're really right, the animation is like a bad AMV, completely out of sync as well as not going with the lyrics. Another funny scene I just noticed that is opposite of the lyrics is "we're friends for life" when Meowth and Team Galactic's Pokemon are battling XD Oh well, I still like the tune
     
    When I first heard it, I wasn't too fond of the whole thing and preferred Battle Dimension. I guess seeing this is my third time watching it, it has just grown on to me now where it doesn't bother me as much. I like how they included some neat shots from the episode, and some new shots of Team Galactic x_x. It's alright, I guess. I think at the end when they Have Ash's Pokémon pop up, could have been a bit better though.
     
    I thought DuArt made the openings.

    Anyway, I only dislike the end of the song where the Pokémon decide to shout their names. The scenes I don't care for much anyway.

    Of course, I could care less for the opening of any show. I just care about the show's episode.
     
    I thought it's abit too cheesy and looks like a fan-made video. It hasn't captured my attention to be honest, nothing special sadly. But nothing will beat the Johto Journeys Theme Tune.
     
    Ugh, I hated it. It sucked. And I thought We Will Be Heroes was bad. . =( Pokémon USA, I love your dub, but I hate your music. And episode titles. . >.>​
     
    Honestly, did they show the Galactic Battles opening to an actual test audience?

    I didn't think I'd be saying this, but PUSA/DuArt/whoever made the opening messed up BIG time (and yeah, I'm one of the few who actually likes the first DP era theme song/opening). The tune is alright, I guess, but it, once again, disappointed me since I keep on expecting themes on the level of the three Pokemon Advanced/Challenge/Battle Themes, which were awesome! And the opening really does look like a suckish AMV. WHY did they not include:

    1. Original Team Galactic/Team Galaxy (I prefer the latter naming,despite the change) scene. The new scenes are OK, but it makes me feel like I have to go to school or work or something... :/ It doesn't feel like POKEMON...

    2. Original Regigigas vs. Darkrai scene - it was epic, and one of the few instances of legendary Pokemon. The Lucario scene was cool (I consider it legendary though it is really not :P), but they could have used it to replace other certain unsynced, annoying scenes (I'm looking at you, ending scene). If that ending scene wasn't present, Regigigas and Darkrai could've cameo'ed!

    3. Original Traveling Scenes. I loved when the group was running in a field, and the camera smoothly transitioned to where they were sailing out in the "high seas" (IMO, nice reference to the Ruby & Sapphire era {land and sea :)}, and a more subtle reference to Naruto and One Piece {ninjas running swiftly and heroic pirates sailing :P} Also, I liked when the group was running across the map to reference the distance they have to go in their journeys.

    4. Miscellaneous Original Scenes: the transition to the "Brock cooking" scene; the "surging rainbow?" background scene at the beginning and end of original; the scene where each Pokemon got a "spotlight"and their own chance to shine and use an attack. Little scenes like those made the original opening have TONS better scenes than Galactic Battles has.

    5. Friend scene. It bugs me a little, but only Ash, Dawn, Brock, their Pokemon, and Team Galactic are featured for a lengthened period of time (Lucario and Team Rocket don't count). The original emphasized that there are actually other characters involved in the show, instead of freakin' ASH all the time! Plus, it makes the original opening seem more livelier and less lonely than Galactic Battles opening...

    And why DID they include:

    1. INFURIATING ENDING SCENE: Grrr...probably THE most irritating scene in any Pokemon opening yet! They just HAD to end the song with a scene they could've easily done in any of the next 52 episodes! Now I (most likely) have to see it 51 more times... :( And even worse, they jump out all happy. I'm like, "Pikachu you're cool/cute and all, but YOU AND YOUR POKEPALS JUST RUINED THE SONG! Stop smiling like everything's all right, because it's not!" Pokemonwould bethe only franchise to be able to pull something that annoying in a song... :(
    Sheesh, either the "spotlight" scene or the original ending scene would've been 1000 times better!

    2. Chimchar using Flamethrower. AGAIN. I JUST saw that in last season's opening! PUSA, you guys can't make it use Flame Wheel like in the original? At least there would be a VARIATION! You've seen one Flamethrower, you've seen 'em all. Same goes for LOTS of other attacks in that opening (Looking at you, Scratch.).

    3. "Pokemon Rangers Sea Temple Movie" font. Sorry, but I HATE that font with a passion. After all this time of using capital letters, and they choose that font that looks skinny and emphasizes the fact that they went lower case... Couldn't they have used the better "Battle Dimension" font from last season?

    Anyway, this the first time EVER I've had this many complaints for a Pokemon theme; all other openings were awesome/OK. Hopefully you guys improve next season, PUSA! If they omitted and added certain scenes (and properly sync scenes with lyrics) to revamp the Galactic Battles opening in future episodes this season, that would be awesome :D (though unlikely :()

    *When I refer to or say Original ______, I'm talking about the scenes from the original Japanese Pokemon opening, High Touch!. IMO, its scenes actually beat its US counterpart opening this season (which is a rare occurrence for my opinions of US/JP Pokemon openings these days)

    ^^Agreed. I especially wanted the scene where Misty, May, etc. appeared. But friggin PUSA left it out. What about all of those who dont watch the jp version and were anxious to see them. And that scene in which all of Ash's pokes attack should have been left too. At least I like this one more than BD.

    The final scene everyone hates is from when Ash won the steel gym's badge.
     
    I thoroughly enjoyed the song, it's probably my favorite theme song so far... the images I don't really pay attention to.

    The only thing that completely ruined it for me was the pokemon at the end, just NO. And gars, I'm 99% sure the scene people are referring to is Pikachu, Gliscor, Buizel, and Chimchar all screaming out their voices.
     
    When I first started I was like "Ohai tis cool :D!"

    A bit later I was like "Erm... Ok..."

    Then I got the child vibes I usually get when I look back at kiddy shows....

    Then at the end I wanted to take sleeping pills and knock myself in the head like I never saw it.

    The ending thing SUCKED. Man, this was gonna be the THIRD dub opening I love, but the ending ruined it for me. Sorry PUSA, no-no for you.
     
    I too didn't enjoy that ending with the Pokémon coming up. Especially it being so random, and the fact that it isn't even all of Ash's team. It seemed to me that they referred to the group's time in Canalve City the most that any other scenes as well.
