4th Gen New or Used

Alright, so I recently purchased a used DS, a used special edition Pokemon DS Lite, and a brand new copy of HeartGold version. I plan to buy a flashcart and load Diamond, Pearl, and SoulSilver versions onto it. I was wondering, did you/do you plan to buy both new, both used, or some other combination.
The only reason I bought HeartGold new was for the Pokewalker. I also would like to know if you can use a single Pokewalker with two different games.
Go ahead and discuss. :D

and a pokewalker only works with the game that it is currently registered to

The gamestops around my areas always have used consoles and such in near mint condition so usually to get a 2nd DS so I can trade back and forth I decided to save a few bucks and get it used. Plus using my edge card, and getting discounts,etc.. from a friend who is a manager of a gamestop helps out. XD

No. We have a whole section for Emulation and hacking games. You just can't link to ROMs.

any pokewalker can work with any copy of HG/SS as long as its synced to that specific game card, so you cant move items and pokemon from the pokewalker to a different HG or SS game. you can exchange stuff with other people, but you'll need 2 pokewalkers

What if I beat HG, and I dont need my Pokewalker anymore. Can I unsync it from HG and sync it to SS?

Presumably you should be able to. I don't see why they would make it so you can't resync it to a different game, especially if you delete your save file or something along those lines.

yes but it will only work if you have the actual ss game. in the pokewalker instructions it says how to resync the pokewalker

I've heard from some of my friends that their cart versions work just fine. I'll have to talk to them about it more I guess.

it shouldnt because there is a special sensor or something in the game cartridge that sends information to and from the pokewalker

I bought a used one, but before HG/SS was released. I sold my first DS Lite so I could have some extra cash since my paycheck was short that pay period and rent/phone bill was due. I then traded in my original DS and got a used DS Lite that was in great condition. When HG/SS was released, I traded in my LeafGreen (game only) and my 1 week old Kingdom Hearts game (case and game) and got over $30 for both, so I only paid a little over $10 for a brand new HG :)
