Suggestion: New Supporter Features & Infraction Suggestions

300 for 3 years, even as you said is way too low. :(

I really do love having a 1000 PM limit and well... considering vms are kept on your vm pages from the start, raising it to 500 or so for just veterans then would seem a little fairer? I don't know how much more stress it would be on the server and how easy it would be to enable it for only veterans though. D:

Isn't the problem with more PM space, more bandwidth costs? Not that 150 is low, but... It's manageable.

I'd be fine if my limit was dropped a bit so that members could get a larger inbox, if that were the case (not too sure whether others would want to, though). At least that's more useful than continually asking for supporter perks, in my opinion.

Honestly? I think 300 would be perfectly fine for me.. like.. I'd be happy with that amount.. cause.. I DO delete PMs that I don't need anymore..
@_@ But like.. I like to keep the really long "Hey Merry Christmas, I haven't talked to you in 2 months so this is how my life's going" followed by like 6 paragraphs of stuff.. or just.. stuff that's sentimental to me..

I know there are probably a lot of members who don't even really use PMs at all.. and some people join for ROM hacking and hardly post either.. so I dunno about raising it for EVERYONE.. but it'd be cool if like.. after a certain time (while still being active) or after a certain postcount people could get more inbox space..
I'm only saying this cause.. PC has TONS of members.. old members.. I know I'm member number 5999.. but they're in the like.. what.. 40-thousands now? multiply all those members with 150 more PM space and wouldn't you get server issues?

@_@ Unless.. that's not a problem then that'd be absolutely fine.. but like.. I just wouldn't wanna cause any server issues.

But yeah if it has to do with bandwidth.. then.. I dunno.. I guess limit it to postcount or/and years active? @_@ Cause like I said.. just even 50 more would be an absolute saviour to me..

The "quote me" suggestion sounds great for Tier 5 or 6, I think that Tier 6 users should receive a couple more minor perks for the amount they give.

As for customized user name, no. Tiers already have special user names :/

User titles could be coloured or something I guess for Tier 6 (but might create a bit of work for the Admins), but images etc. should only be available for staff.

That is just my thoughts.

Also, another thing:

When I was a member, I also did constantly hit 150. I'm going to be flat out honest here: In a way, I can see where Kura's coming from, as far the member PM limit is concerned. I felt that 150 was a bit too small for me, especially knowing how much I PM people(and vice-versa, as demonstrated by given screenshot). I would suggest about 250 or so? 500 was the old PM limit moderators had, and I guess that can be a choice if that's not too much of a stretch.

And I don't think veteran-ness should have anything to do with your inbox. Be fair and let everyone make use of their own inbox for their own purposes.

That's totally understandable! I just think someone with less than 10 posts on PC shouldn't really be allowed 250+ (or even 150) PM space @_@ Let them at least reach 100 posts to bump their PM space to something like 30 to whatever..

I only suggested veteranness cause.. well you see where I'm coming from.. in the 6+ years I've been here.. I obviously try to make room for any new important PMs that come along.. I know it also depends on how much you PM obviously.. but 6 years is a big difference from a member who has only been around for a month @_@.. cause I'm sure there's a large gap in the number of notes you wouldn't wanna throw away ;__;..

I agree it should be fair, too.. but I suggested veteranness to just make a point of like.. how much stuff can accumulate in a long period of time for everyone really (unless they're inactive) @_@

Denying new members more PM space would seem a bit unfair, dontcha think? I mean, put yourself in their shoes...if you just joined today, and found out that your inbox was pretty much restricted because you're just a new member and not a veteran, wouldn't you feel a bit disappointed? I'm sure a lot of new members will. And honestly, to put it like this: postcount shouldn't matter. PC has moderators right now that have a postcount of less than like 500. Does that mean they should get restricted too? I mean, I wouldn't think so, which is why I think that veteran-ness/postcount shouldn't matter.

Of course, this is coming from someone who's spent almost 6 years on PC as well. You can't imagine how many PMs I had to delete once I keep hitting that 150 mark. And you see why my PMs in that screenshot are so large....it's because I refuse to delete a lot of them, just in case I needed to look over most of them again when the day comes. But I only have space for about 70-or something PMs and once that mark hits 1000...yeah, I'm going to have to start deleting some, and I'm not really gonna be happy with it. So in a way, I definitely see where you're coming from.

Whether the members would actually get bigger inbox is of course up to the h-staff, but I agree with that idea.

I guess.. but if it puts strain on the server, I mean @_@ like.. bandwith and all.. and isn't there like a 100 post limit before people can add attachments and stuff BECAUSE of bandwidth? I'm just saying you don't want like.. bots joining and like cluttering up the system because of it.. @_@ 10 posts isn't a big deal.. it's enough to introduce yourself.. post in a couple sections to get to know around the forum.. and voila. If they can't post a measly 10 posts then perhaps they could've just lurked.. I mean.. VMs would still be available.. and how many PMs could you really accumulate if you're a month-old member with less than 10 posts and you've never gotten to know anyone around here?
I was just talking to someone and a point was brought up that.. yeah.. I was basically saying it'd be nice for vets because vets didn't always have Visitor Messages. ._. So I figured naturally vets would've just accumulated more PMs..

I agree we should make it fair, but we should also consider the server limits and actual member needs. If the server isn't an issue, I'm all for raising the limit overall.. :)
But if it is an issue, I'm just asking the staff if they could take into consideration what I am saying, and empathize with my (and other members in a similar predicament) PMing situation..

The PM limits aren't there because of server bandwidth limitations as far as I know. It's no problem for the database to store more textual information in an existing table of the DB. o.o

The PM limits are there because that's just the space the Admins of long ago decided they'd be. I doubt the admins of those days ever considered or truly understood that the community would last as long as it has and grow as large as it has, even if they intended it to do so. By that alone, I think it's about time the Member PM limit be reconsidered anyways. :/

Even if you only bump the PM limit up by 100 or 200, that would be nice! At least it'd free up space for incoming PMs...especially among the very social, yet private members.

Sure, VMs have indeed taken a little pressure off the PM system, but we do not care to share EVERYTHING with the public, and VMs are more appropriate for day-to-day non-sensitive conversations. Oh, and don't underestimate how many PMs it can take to fully discuss a private subject either, especially if you save sent PMs. Seriously, if it were possible to make Sent PMs not count against your inbox total, then that might help...but that would just be another band-aid. :<

The usertitle thing...nyeeh.
Did did you just neigh, Syd? o__O *nyeeeeeehhhhh*

@_@ What I thought would be nice.. partially because I am one of them.. but.. @_@ Super veteran members only get like 150 pm-space storage.. and like.. I'm an over 6 year old member here. I know I could probably back up a few PMs to textfiles or whatever.. but I kinda like to save some PMs for old memories.. >_> Problem with this is that.. my box is at 110ish.. and I continuously try to find stuff to purge but it's proving difficult ..
What I am saying is.. so what? Sure, I could fork over $5. I know it's pocketchange.. but should that really matter with becoming a long contributing member?
:/ It'd be nice if older vets (5+ years) or people with like 10,000 post count (which I just about almost have) could get 200 spaces for PM instead of 150.
I mean.. 50 more isn't asking much for a member who's contributed quite a bit to PC, dontcha think?

I think supporters get what.. 1000? (and how many PMs would they really get a couple months since joining?) And mods get like.. I don't even know.. 20k? Haha (jk) but I know it's quite a lot.. @_@ So.. it couldn't be THAT stressful on the server..
I like this idea. After every year a member is a member, they gain x amount of extra PM space. Not a lot of people may use PMs, and a lot of those people would probably tell the people who have very small PM space available that they should delete their PMs. Now, I would never do that. PMs from the past have proven to be very nice resources for me, and things that I look back on because they come in handy when a situation arises. What do members have? 100 PMs? That to me seems like too little.

I think something should come along and reward someone for being active posters and being here for so long, and what better way to do that than offering automated PM increases every year someone's been here? After all, typically, most veterans would have a lot more PMs than a new member. I mean, common sense could tell you that. And really, 100 PMs available? I'd have had to have cleared out my PMs so many times because of that. :/

Isn't the problem with more PM space, more bandwidth costs? Not that 150 is low, but... It's manageable.
I don't think it's to do with bandwidth, that's how much data can be transferred from PokeCommunitys servers to a persons computer. It's only transffered when you click on a PM, so it could be unlimited really.

It would most likely be a problem with the servers storage. But if it's just a normal computer, and not a proper server, then they could just go buy a new hard drive. They barely cost any for even a TB now.

Edit: I replied to this post because when I clicked on the thread from the home page, it brought me to that page. But it turns out there's a whole page after it it should have brought me to >_<

^ Yeah, really.

Why would you want to delete them when they could serve a purpose of being there, hold a significant importance, etc? That's like asking why don't you delete your visitor messages, in my opinion. Clearly you don't use PMs much, Mega Shock. I knew someone would bring that up.

Why don't you copy them down somewhere, then. If you have important memories or other special things anywhere it's always a good idea to have some kind of backup in case of emergencies, as no method of storing data will be 100% reliable.

A small picture next to our username might be a good perk too. But only selecting selected pictures chosen by the staff :)

The first thing that ran in my head when I read this thread is this:

why?

And it still hasn't been answered even though I'm reading all of these posts. And it takes more than just a simple answer. Why do supporters constantly want more perks? Colored usertitles are something that staff-only are supposed to have. Distributing them out to supporters would be like giving them out to the common member, making the whole "exclusive" aspect of the colored usertitle being pretty much useless. After all, do you guys know how many tier 5s PC actually has? Twenty-five bucks isn't that hard to donate, at least to me, and...just no.

I'm addressing this post to how I feel about supporter perks in particular. Sure, it's nice to have a bigger profile pic. Sure, it's nice to have your own forum and a bigger avatar, and all of that good stuff, but why must we continually ask for more, and we're never even satisfied with what we currently have now? It's honestly disappointing, and at the rate this is going, we might as well have every single perk your average moderator has.

About the PM box limits, I'm going to go ahead and say that I don't really have anything to add about that as far as my opinion goes. I'm pretty satisfied with having 1000 as my PM box limit, and I'll show you something right now:

[PokeCommunity.com] New Supporter Features & Infraction Suggestions

But honestly, I'm not complaining about it. This is just to show that I really enjoy what I have, and I'm making use of it. I don't know about you guys, but while I think all that nice stuff about colored usertitles and whatever looks "good in writing", but not so good in practice.

This is just me, though.

I won't have that many since I remove things after I read them. Don't know very many people here though :)

Well lots of people wouldnt like to do that :(
There are some stuff we like to keep. Dosent matter on how much you know anyways.

I agree that PMs should get increased to like 500. or little lower then that for members. 150 is just so little. I have 6 more to use. I used to have 2 until I deletes some pms except the last one which includes the rest that i deleted.

I have mine on "save after send" until I get a reply, or yeah. :P /off topic.

But 150 gets filled pretty fast depending. Its annoying. Life for me and others. I cant stand deleting anything.

Last time I checked, that was called an avatar, which everyone can have.

I would keep the entries when I make a event temporarily until I move them off PC onto the computer or Google Docs :)
