New to fan games/rom hacks but familiar with Pokemon, hoping for suggestions.

Hello trainers, I do not use Forums/Reddit much at all, so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed or if this is the wrong place to ask this but I have just recently finished my many years long adventure of completing all the mainline Pokemon games. And then a few weeks ago I saw a video about a Pokemon rouge like game (Emerald Rouge I believe it was called) and while that game did look spectacular I am not a fan of the rouge like genre, So I did some research and that's when I found out there is quite a lot of these fan games/rom hacks. So I came here in hope of finding a game that would be good for someone familiar with Pokemon but new to these fan made games. If anyone would be willing to suggest some games I could try, I would be very thankful for any suggestions.

If giving some preferences would help with suggestions I will gladly do so, as I am not picky I apologize if I am being to vague.

-GBA games would be preferred because that is the only emulator I have set up and learned how to patch the roms for, but I would be willing to learn how to set up another

-While I'm not against the idea of a challenging game, one akin to the difficulty of the original games or a bit harder/ or more in depth would be preferred

My favorite fangames are Splice and Uranium. Uranium is a classic and a very good one for people starting in fangames, and it is a bit harder than vanilla games.

I can suggest some great fan games :
- Solar Light - Lunar Dark (full of Fakémon) ;
- Zeta / Omicron : Mostly Pokémon but also a few Fakémon ;
- Insurgence : My top favourite, many Pokémon and also a lot of great Fakémon, Delta variants of existing ones, great means to train Pokémon, lots of maps to explore, ...
- Reborn : Darker, top level battles and hairpulling puzzles, giant city, story-driven, and having a regular Pokémon among the story's characters - which inspired me!- ^^ ;
- Desolation : Newer game, same developers of Reborn, also darker and top level battles, nice looking story and characters, not finished but already dozens of hours of playing!
