6th Gen New to pokemon and im slightly confused. Can you help?

Hello,

So im pretty new to pokemon and im confused how you are able to complete your pokedex.

So, am i right in thinking that you cant get any of the starter pokemon later in the game. Theres absolutely no way of taming them.

So, my guess is you have to trade for them, but who is going to trade a pokemon that they will never be able to get again.

I dont understand how youre meant to complete the pokedex, when not every pokemon is tamable. I feel like i shouldnt even bother playing the game because ill never be able to complete the pokedex, which is a big part of the game.

So, can someone tell me ways of getting pokemon that arent tameable in game, like the starter pokemon. How can you complete your pokedex when you cant tame them.

You have to trade. You can finish most of the Pokedex by yourself but will have to trade for some. You can actually get all Gen 1 and Gen 6 starters in the Friend Safari so add a lot of people!! You also get a free starter when you finish the game.

You can breed your starter if you catch a ditto, which you can get near the 8th gym and post game there is friend safari and you can catch some starters there

There are currently 450 Pokémon available in Pokémon X and Y. The new Pokémon Bank feature that allows you to transfer any Pokémon from previous DS Titles (Black/White etc) to the current games will be made available 27th December 2013.

You will eventually be able to fill up your Pokédex with all Pokémon once this feature is released, however until then there are only 450 available which should occupy you with enough time to fill your Pokédex up!
