[Intro] New To The Game

    So I've always been a long time pokemon fan, and as I've gotten older, I had rekindled my love of pokemon gaming.

    I stopped playing pokemon games, for the most part, in 2008ish. I gave Gen 4 a try, and got part of the way through Diamond version, set it down, and then played music for the next eight years. Still an avid anime and pokemon fan, just wasn't a gamer for those years.

    I wasn't making money as a musician anymore so I went back to bartending (my college gig) and eventually the pandemic hit. Now, my wife and I were prepared, so it was fine that I was out of work given the circumstances. It was because of this I dove back into pokemon gaming, and I'm so glad I did!

    Since then I checked off quite a few things on my PokeBucketlist:

    1. -Completed the Johto Dex in its entirety without the aide of a GameShark or other device (we were such bad kids)
    2. -Completed the main stories for Gen 4-7 which I had hardly noticed since I wasn't gaming
    3. -Caught a shiny platonically without any forms of cheating, just patience
    4. -Catch every legendary ever released (Zarude is considered Mythical right?)
    5. -With the release of SwSh, I completed a main game play without a walk through for the first time ever, needed it for the pokedex though 😀 😉


    Now that I've done all that, and got to experience PLA and S&V are on the way, I've been trying to learn how to ROM hack while trying to write FanFiction!

    I am happy to meet more long time fans of Pokémon like me! I also took a break after Generation 3, but I have never truly lost my interest in Pokémon, and tried new versions after a while, kept watching Pokémon movies, trying fan games, ...

    I am glad that you managed to keep the situation under control.
    That is an impressive list of achievements you have got there, great job! ^^
    About ROM hack and writing fanfictions, Fan Games and Create and Discover's sections might give you the help you need.

    For gen 4, I didn't find Diamond/Pearl particularly interesting either. I had way more fun in HGSS.
    Since you played gens 4-8 pretty recently then, which of those games did you like the most?

    Also how'd you like Legends: Arceus?

    I wouldn't say I preferred any of the games more than the others (HGSS/ORAS caught my attention more lol) but I loved the new mechanics and pokemon, and that kept me intertwined. Sun and Moon were the only installments I wasn't a big fan of. Great pokemon, new twists and wrinkles, just wasn't my thing. Call me a traditionalist 😆

    Umbreon always ends up being my main! But Flygon, Houndoom, Quagsire are some of my legit favorites!
