    NEW UPDATE

--Nearby list "ghost" pokemon issue appears to be fixed. Pokemon actually disappear from list now once you are no longer in range.
--Trainer name can be changed one time only.
--Nice, Great, Excellent XP bonuses are back and now stack with Curveball bonus as well.

For more specifics, see reddit thread above. =)

Key issues still not fixed, i wonder what are they waiting for

What do you have in mind?

Addressing the tracker with a positive change for the first time seems good to me. I mean the fact that the Pokemon are actually nearby if they're on the thing now is wonderful.

The Nice, Great, Excellent glitch was the biggest issue that came out of the last update and it's awesome to see them turn around and fix that relatively quickly.

GPS tracking is off, crashes, lags etc.

So what's the deal with new "Sighting" feature?

So what's the deal with new "Sighting" feature?

For now, the reddit has found these things:

The order of appearance on the list has no bearing on proximity.

Repeats no longer occur. If there a three Weedle in the area, only one will show as an icon.

Pokemon that have de-spawned or moved out of range will disappear from the list. Yay for accuracy!
The range seems to be approx. 200 meters.

Users in San Francisco have been selected to, let's say, beta-test a new Nearby feature that centers around Pokemon spawning near Pokestops.
    Screenshots here

The grass is still a mystery.

Anyone with more info please add onto this, this is by no means an exhaustive list, I just collected info from the reddit.

Ooo this is really interesting. As a general comment I do like this update a lot - although it's not a hugely impactful set of changes it is still a step in the right direction and I can only see what they've changed as positive. Removing the 'ghost' Pokémon especially is something that I'm very thankful for and I like the idea of only showing one of each species in the nearby tracker - should look a lot less messy now for sure. I'll have to head out tomorrow and try these changes properly but from what I've read I'm happy! Also the beta testing thing you mentioned is interesting Siri, any further news on this?

That's interesting, so it tells you which PokéStop the Pokémon is nearest to and then shows you where said PokéStop actually is? I'll be curious to see how informative this actually ends up being but I can see it being considerably more useful for city players than rural players. "This PokéStop is nearest" means a heck of a lot more when you have 50 PokéStops in close proximity than when you have 3 spread throughout an entire village haha. I think it's a cool thing to do and I like the direction they're taking it in but can't help but think it could be a lot more ironed out.

I like how they actually tell you which is the nearest landmark that spawns the pokemon, because you can have the pokemon appearing as nearby yet for a good hour, you never see it pop up for you. =.=

A much needed update, it still will favour city players rather than rural players but still I'm very happy about it was exactly what we needed. Now all they need to do is add more pokestops to rural areas and then stop GPS spoofs then i will be even happier

I think this is a really positive change, it fixes the tracking problems Go has had and the new system does seem useful and more accurate. I read an article where it says the sightings list is refreshed every 10 seconds so if a Pokemon is no longer in range it won't appear on the list for what felt like forever.

As much as people have moaned at Niantic, I think we have to go them credit for creating a whole new system that seems to work even better than the first :)

The grass thing is probably leafs animations that we could se on map, i guess that would be that, but this with pokestop is this live or is it feature comming up in next update?

Beta testing for the new tracker is currently live for all players in the downtown area of San Francisco. Here's a video of it in action.

I happen to like this way more than the initial system; it's much more efficient. :)
Are you a part of this test? :o If so, how quickly are you able to track things? How hard is it to use? Is it causing server lag again?

The new tracker is MUCH better and I've been actually finding stuff through it which is new to me, haha. Very cool. 8)
Sorry how're you using it to find new stuff? :o Just because the old stuff now times out when it's gone rather than ghosting around for ages or did you get to test the new system with the PokéStop feature?

    Found bug:
Three different times last night, my Sightings listing was totally empty - so I tried closing and opening the app, and not only did Sightings fill up with three new Pokemon, but a Pokemon appeared right beside me that wasn't there before.

If things seem a little dry for you guys, try closing and opening the app like I did, maybe the new system is bad at spawning Pokemon like it should??

Edit: Yup, have had to do this restarting several more times today to make sure Pokemon don't stop spawning.

Via Serebii, this is what the new tracking is looking like:

404 not found. Could you show us which page on Serebii you mean, because I can't find anything on Serebii that addresses the radar at all.

See this post, mate (it was above yours):

I hope that people outside San Fran get to join in soon! Lucky beta testers.
