    Hello all from the UK!

I use to watch Pokemon when I was a child and loved it. I'm now 26 with a boy of my own, and would love to get back into it, in particular the TCG. My problem is being out of it for so long, I'm not sure where to start. Any guidance on how I can get back into not only the TCG but Pokemom in general will be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards
    TrueBrit

Hello Truebrit, and welcome to the forums!
It is great to see long time fans of Pokémon join PokéCommunity! Do you have some favourite Pokémon ?
About the cards, you can check, and discuss in, this section! About Pokémon in general, well it is vast! ^^
We have sections on the anime and movies, the old games, the new games, the fan games and ROM hacks, ...

Hello there Truebrit, and welcome to the PC!

A few ideas on getting back into the series are:

Pokemon pretty recently started up a new anime called "Pokemon Horizons" that I've heard good things about if you're into that kinda thing, and it being fairly new, you won't need to binge 10 seasons just to catch up with anything.
For the TCG, you could check out some more current card pack openings on Youtube to learn about the modern cards, and maybe also watch a few tournament matches. And there's always the TCG section here to talk more about cards and strategies.
As for the gaming side of things, there's plenty of fanworks here on the PC, or if you'd rather play something official, you could check out a few videos on Gens 8 and 9 to see if either of them interest you. Anything earlier than that doesn't have the ability to trade with others over wifi, so getting certain Pokemon can be really tough without some way to cheat them in.

That's all that's coming to mind for me at the moment, but maybe others will have more ideas I didn't think of.

Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy your stay here 😁

I think it's worth mentioning also that there is a brand new digital Pokemon tcg debuting very soon on the 30th October called Pokemon tcg Pocket. It's kind of a more streamlined version targeting beginners and new players that maybe find Pokemon tcg a bit overwhelming with all the history and thousands of different cards, updates and rule changes. It also has certain pack obtaining features that means you don't have to spend a bunch of money and can still enjoy the game without going broke. Could be a great jumping on point for you and your son, and even help build a bit of experience for getting into the proper Pokemon tcg again.

    Hello!

I've got no experience whatsoever with actually playing with the Pokemon TCG but I do have a bit of a collection myself, having gotten back into it with SwSh =3
I reckon each generations' cards have some really pretty ones
If you start collecting gen 9 TCG just be aware that the border of TCG cards is no longer yellow, it's now grey.

Do you still have a TCG collection from back when you collected them?

Thanks for the advise. I shall check out horizons. I realised Netflix has indigo league so currently watching through them. Good idea with the TCG videos, I'll take a look on the old YT

Thanks for the info ref the borders. Unfortunately I do not so, I really am starting from scratch. I've found some places selling mixed bundles of preowned cards for around £8. Not sure ifbthat is worth it / a good way to start building up a collection.
