Nice team, but could be better.

Started playing Pokemon Showdown and I love it. As the title implies, I have a decent team but I think it can be improved.

    Adamant Nature
    -Bulk Up
    -Drain Punch
    -Mach Punch
    -Payback

    Skarmory @ Custap Berry
    Ability: Sturdy
    Impish Nature
    -Whirlwind
    -Spikes
    -Brave Bird
    -Roost
    EVs: 252 HP, 232 Def, 24 Speed

    Forretress @ Red Card
    Ability: Sturdy
    Relaxed Nature
    -Stealth Rock
    -Volt Switch
    -Gyro Ball
    -Rapid Spin
    EVs: 252 HP, 4 Atk, 252 Def

    Chandelure @ Flame Plate
    Ability: Flash Fire
    Modest Nature
    -Shadow Ball
    -Fire Blast
    -Pain Split
    -Substitute
    EVs: 248 HP, 252 SpA, 8 SpD

    Nidoking @ Choice Scarf
    Ability: Sheer Force
    Timid Nature
    -Earth Power
    -Fire Blast
    -Ice Beam
    -Sludge Wave
    EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpA, 252 Speed

    Hydreigon @ White Herb
    Ability: Levitate
    Mild Nature
    -Draco Meteor
    -Dark Pulse
    -Roost
    -Earthquake
    EVs: 252 HP, 4 Atk, 252 SpA

Since it's the OU tier in the XY Singles, I should probably expect additions of Fairy-type moves/ Pokemon. However, as it is I think it's kinda good. Forretress and Skarmory were chosen as my hazard setters, plus gave them moves that wouldn't leave them completely vulnerable to Taunt. Chandelure is there to absorb Fire-type attacks thanks to it's Flash Fire, and since it can force some Pokemon to switch, Substitute + Pain Split seemed the way to go.

Conkeldurr, Nidoking, and Hydreigon can hit pretty hard. Now that Steel has been nerfed, Conkeldurr can hit the likes of Aegislash and Metagross with Payback and hit everything else with Drain Punch. A boost in Defense thanks to Bulk Up allows it to stay on the field longer.

I went for the mixed set for Hydreigon since it still hits hard. It's a toss-up between White Herb and Dragon Gem, but at least White Herb allows it to use Draco Meteor twice in a row. Finally, there's Choice Scarf Nidoking, and so far it has helped a lot despite being UU. Most opponents, for instance, try to use Substitute on their Gliscor thinking it'll outspeed Nidoking, only to meet an Ice Beam to the face. It could work on Garchomp, but I don't chance it since the king is vylnerable to Ground.

I doubt I need to change Nidoking, but how would you change this team? I know it can get better.

Note that item clause isn't in effect by default in Showdown! battles.

Conkeldurr is better off switching in to opposing status moves, rather than being forcefully inflicted one by a status orb. The lack of Leftovers recovery will hurt it in the long run, even with Drain Punch. Also, with Fairies running around now, spamming Mach Punch is very difficult:
    -Bulk Up
    -Drain Punch
    -Payback
    -Poison Jab
    Nature: Adamant
    EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 SDef
    Item: Leftovers
    Ability: Guts/Iron Fist

Custap Berry isn't available for Skarmory yet. Just use Leftovers or Shed Shell. If Custap Berry is ever released in Gen VI, Custap Skarmory should look like this:
    -Stealth Rock
    -Spikes
    -Taunt
    -Brave Bird
    Nature: Jolly
    EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 Spe
    Item: Custap Berry
    Ability: Sturdy

Why Red Card on Forretress? As I mentioned before, Leftovers recovery is ideal for Forretress.

SubSplit Chandelure works best with Life Orb to increase the amount of HP it regains with Pain Split. Chandelure isn't that bulky, so just use 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe as the EV spread.

With Fairies running around now, Hydreigon has to use Flash Cannon to get past them. White Herb also only sees use in Shell Smash sets:
    -Draco Meteor
    -Dark Pulse
    -Flash Cannon
    -Roost/Fire Blast/Focus Blast
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
    Item: Life Orb

Leftovers for Conkeldurr, Forretress, and Skarmory it is. Didn't know much about the current item clause since I normally play on BW2 for online battles, but since XY are out I'll have to battle on Showdown to try out the team.

Decided to give Forretress the Red Card just to throw off the opponent and surprise them (as they would never expect it) but more often than not he could use the recovery so I'll give him the Leftovers.

What about Skarmory? If Custap Berry isn't out yet, is the current set okay if I give him Leftovers instead? Or would the set you have provided work as well?

Didn't think I'd see Poison moves see more usage this Gen, but the Fairy spam would explain why. I'll replace Mach Punch and give Poison Jab a try, though I'll definitely miss the priority since Conkeldurr is slow as hell.

I'd say this is a massive improvement over what I currently have. I'll try it out. Thanks!
