With all the spoilers around the internet and most of the Kalos pokedex being leaked on various internet sites, one question has come to my mind: Are there no "regular" new Evolutions?? In previous games, some of the old Pokemon received a new Evolution, but apparently this won't be the case in Pokemon X/Y, or no one has leaked any of these possible new evolutions yet.

I normally wouldn't have a problem with this, but i just wonder why some Mega-Evolutions, like Mega-absol, Mawile, or Aerodactyl, weren't made into "regular" evolutions instead??

So, what do you guys think? Do you miss regular evolutions as well? Or are Mega-Evos the better alternative?

I was hoping that a few more would get some(remember we did get one because of Sylveon), but I am not too disappointed. I was happy that they focus more on new Pokemon from this generation and mega evolutions.

If you ask me, at this point, it would be safe to assume this will be how they introduce new evolutions to old Pokemon and not even have to be restricted to a single new one. While we had split evolution paths at one point, I don't think we've seen those since gen 4 now (well, except for Eevee.)

    I know ,
I wanted Donphan to have actual evolution .

Yeah I still find it weird they that every Kalos Pokemon aside from Sylveon is not related by evolution to an older Pokemon. But I guess it's because they wanted to focus a lot on Mega Evolutions, and Sylveon's main purpose seems to be the marketing mascot for the Fairy-type. I really do miss regular evolutions, and they should introduce more of them in 7th Gen when that comes.

I am a little disappointed that Eevee is the only PKMN that got a new evolution. Lots of previous gen PKMN still deserve to evolve... Farfetch'd... Corsola... Mawile... Chatot... Stunfisk.

Don't forget Dunsparce, I'm guessing Dunsparse will be getting some incredibly intense Dragon type murder everything form. (Though it will probably be a megaevolution)

Yeah, I was really hoping for some new normal evolutions!

Honestly, I really do think the Mega Evolutions replaced the idea of having new evolutions (or new pre-evolutions) for already-existing Pokémon, but that's just how I see the situation.

I think the same and I'm sure gen 7 will almost have no old pokemons evolving and instead adding more mega evo and maybe add the gen 6 starters mega.

There's a lot of Pokémon that I was looking forward to seeing an evolution for, like Absol. They're getting a MegaEvolution though, which kind of makes up for it. As far as I'm concerned, MegaEvolution forms are given to Pokémon who are at their final evolutionary stage, to help them reach their "full potential" so to speak. Since Pokémon such as Lucario and Mawile already have a Mega form, does this mean that they won't be getting any real evolutions at some point in future? :( If that's true, then that's quite dissapointing, honestly.

For stage 2 pokemon, like Ampharos & Charizard, Mega evolution is great.
For those who are not stage 2, it'd be nice if they added more regular evolutions...
