Noella Character Creation
This is a simple and quick event allowing you to flex your creative muscles and populate a brand new Pokemon region with characters of your own creation. There's no need to sign-up to participate, just follow our Character Sheet template and use the information on the Noella Region we provide in order to create a cool and interesting character - just like if you were joining an RP. Completed characters will be featured in a special PokeCommunity Daily article. This even will run until the 31st of December so use your time wisely!
Because of the harsh climate of most of the region, the residents of Noella have had to make an effort to adapt. In most of the reason, people are almost always seen wearing thick woolen coats produced from the wool of the Wooloo and Mareep lines and protective boots, gloves and headwear. In the southern parts of the region, where the environment is a bit more giving, people still tend to dress warmly but it's more a matter of sweaters and jeans outside of snowy days.
Settlements in the harsh, icy north of Noella tend to be small and rural with very few large cities while in the south larger cities are somewhat more common. Culturally, the people of Noella have learned to be resilient and have strong morals, they place an extremely high importance on helping each other and sharing needed resources when necessary. To give someone a gift and expect nothing in return is considered the height of honour while refusing something someone offers you is considered one of the greatest social missteps you can make. Large, hearty family and community meals are common, especially in the more rural areas. In the big cities, especially in the south, the more traditional views are still prevalent but are much more lax by comparison as community support is much less necessary.
The region itself is populated by a greater number of Ice types than others, especially in the areas perpetually blanketed in ice themselves. To the people of Noella, Ice and Fire types both have historically and culturally been very important as have fluffy Pokemon like Wooloo. The former for their ability to function in the harsh climate and the latter categories for the important aid they provided to human populations.
Unlike in other regions, where it is common to receive your first Pokemon from a Professor - in Noella it is traditional for your first companion on your journey to be given as a gift by your parents or another close family member and more often than not, they are Pokemon that are well equipped to handle an icy and cold environment as opposed to more traditional options.
Town's in Noella are named for flowers. As flowers are quite rare in the ecology of Noella, they are greatly appreciated for their beauty. The inhabitants of the region wanted their architecture to take the place of the largely absent flowers as beautiful scenery. This is both the origin of Noella's naming scheme as well as the reason why important buildings have extravagant, beautiful designs and why many in the region take great pride in the appearances of their home and local community.
Snowdrop City
Snow Drop City is the largest of the northern settlements and is eternally surrounded by ice and bathed in snow. Because of the year-long freezing temperatures, the city's streets and parks are decorated throughout by an ever-changing roster of ice sculptures. To make for easier living, the city has numerous underground walkways and large underground living complexes - both of which are highly insulated. Above ground, Snowdrop City is noteworthy for it's dark-coloured buildings that stand out starkly against all the white and the long ropes of budlights that decorate walkways and small roads to mark out a path.
Daffodil Town
Daffodil Town is a quaint village with a simple claim to fame: it is the southernmost, warmest location in Noella. Originally incredibly small, the town has been growing on account of a booming local tourism industry as it is one of very few places where wildflowers can be seen regularly, all year round. Once a month, an enormous feast is held in the town's largest park and just about every household - and even some outsiders - attends.
Hyacinth City
Hyacinth City is the largest city in Noella, a bustling central metropolis that sits just low enough in the region to not be perpetually blanketed in ice and snow, but high enough to be frigid by most standards and to see regular snowfall. Because of it's centralised location, it serves as an economic hub in the region, boasting many large shopping centres and businesses. Hyacinth City is also notable for being the capital of the region and for possessing the largest indoor winter-sports facility in the world.
This is also one of the least traditional of Noella's locations and there is a high youth population compared to other cities.
Chrysanthemum Town
The south-western Chrysanthemum Town is widely regarded as the oldest remaining settlement in Noella. The town is very rustic and is surrounded by mountains on one side and farmland on the other. Ancient ruins can also be found all through the local area, making the town a popular stop for archaeologists - something not all of the locals are thrilled about.
Crocus Town
Large by the standards of northern towns, Crosus Town is a scenic tourist location overlooking a great frozen lake. Several lodges and hotels can be found in this icy locale which has a very convenient location being only a few hours from both mountains to ski on and Snowdrop City. A popular landmark here is the original Bouquet Bakery famed for it's delicious cakes and other desserts.
Bluebell City
Located in the south-east, Bluebell City is a bustling port city that sees a seemingly never-ending traffic of various ships. Many of the Noella Region's imported good come through here and the locals have a reputation for being both friendly and shrewd business people. While hardly the shoppers paradise that Hyacinth City is, the beach side market here is a chief attraction and is known for having low prices and the tendency to occasionally sell rare items or artefacts.
The chief attraction for trainers, however, is Wilderness Island. A short boat ride out of the city leads to a privately owned island that has been set up as a Safari Zone. Not only can plenty of local Pokemon be found here, including rarer ones, but sometimes the owner will also import foreign Pokemon rarely seen in the region for trainers to attempt to catch. Unfortunately, it is known that entry into the island carries a very hefty fee.

The Noella Region
The Noella region is located in the far north of the world, close enough to the pole that from the north of this roughly triangular region down, over half is perpetually covered in thick snow and ice. The lower segment is ecologically dominated by large pine forests and hilly, grassy prairies and even here it can snow. A vast mountain range runs up the left side of the region.Because of the harsh climate of most of the region, the residents of Noella have had to make an effort to adapt.
