Nostalgia Playthroughs

When you pick up a remake, do you want the experience to be as Nostalgic as possible? Such as using members of your team on the original game, etc. Or do you merely see remakes as a new frontier to conquer? Personally, I'm a bit of a nostalgia player. I picked Totodile in HG, since I used it in Crystal, Chikorita being my favorite Johto starter. I did, however, take advantage of Piloswine getting a powerful evolution, and used Mamoswine to beat Lance.

I don't play through the games just once--I do it dozens of times, as whenever I get bored with one (which usually happens after I beat the game), I just restart it. For me it's about variety, and I've had so many different combinations on each game it's not my team which makes me nostalgic--it's the Pokémon and towns in the region.

I suppose I do. On Red i chose a Bulbasaur and when I picked up Leafgreen I once again chose a Bulbasaur. Other than that I really dont have any preference to what Pokemon I use... Other than always having a Pikachu on my journey.

Never really played any other games and when I started playing Gold I chose Cyndaquill. Went out bought Heartgold and once again went with Cynaquill as my Pokemon.

I pretty much use the same teams for remakes as I did for the originals, but it's more because they're Pokemon I'm comfortable using instead of any nostalgia factor. So, yes and no for my answer.

I get a little excited when I do something in a remake that I remember doing in the original, I suppose. Like when I talk to Silver to get pushed away. Over and over. Silver can push me all he wants to, GSC or HGSS. >:) But I don't play them for the nostalgia, considering all my older games still work. It's just more of...I want to see what the region is like updated and what else they could do to make the game as great as the originals. It was a missed target with FRLG, but I think they were spot on with HGSS, if not better.

I definitely do it for the nostalgia, especially with HGSS because my original games don't work anymore.

When I went to Kanto in HG/SS, it felt good to listen to the Kanto region music in Gen IV style. There were times when I imagined the FR/LG version of the music playing instead of the current track.

When I played Heartgold, I wasnt expecting me to have such a nostalgic expierence. I didnt see it coming xD I picked my starter I first used in gold, but what really kicked me was the route 30/31, and the lake of rage of music. That really, really brought back a lot of memories.

I didnt think that remakes would have that effect on me. Playing through leafgreen didnt give me that same feeling because I didnt play any of the first generation games until after I completed Leafgreen :3

In HG when I went to Kanto i made sure to catch a Pikachu and train him up before I took on any of the gyms. So that just adds more to my nostalgia play-through argument.

In HG, I kinda wanted to go back to how I remembered, listened to the older music again and picked the starter I remember most from Gold and Crystal - Cyndaquil, though I think my original playthrough was with Chikorita. I don't really go for anything else, but I try to relive the memories when I explore the region, except I'm not sure how I do. Idk, I know I didn't go for nostalgia with LG, though. :(
