Hello! I currently go by Gulpin here on PC, but I still identify with my previous username, deku. My real name is Field, but I usually don't share that and I'd rather be called Gulpin or deku on the forums. I'm eighteen and I am about to start my freshman year of college. I joined PC way back when I was 10 because I stumbled upon some pretty awesome Pokemon fan art in the Oekaki (does that even exist anymore?) and I joined and bookmarked PC so I could remember to come back and check more of it out.

Since joining, I've been active in various sections of PC at different times. Initially, I spent a lot of time in the Roleplay Corner which eventually became super dead so I left it and haven't been back (though it does seem to have become active again, which is nice to see!). I also did quite a bit of trading during the days of Diamond and Pearl, which accounts for my extremely well used copy of Diamond with who-knows how many questionable Pokemon on it. I also spent a little time in Art & Design, making sprites initially and eventually purchasing a tablet to create digital art. Along with these sections, I mainly kept to and continue to stay in the GPGD and current generation sections. Recently, the section that I tend to hang out the most in is Challenges, which is honestly the most awesome forum and group of people around. In general, I really don't post much here on PC but I frequently read discussions and stay active without posting. I mainly account this to the fact that I've been without a reliable computer until very recently, and only had my smartphone from which to post, which really limited my posting activity.

As far as interests go, Pokemon is definitely one of my favorite things. I've played every generation multiple times, mostly to complete challenges (my favorite being the classic monotype challenge). There aren't really any other video games that I play besides Pokemon however, so I don't really identify as a 'gamer.' Other interests of mine include playing the flute, writing, reading, and drawing/other artsy things. I don't write as much as I would like to, and the same goes recently for drawing and the like. I played the flute in junior high and high school and I earned a spot in the All-State band my senior year (which is basically the highest you can get). I'm not very in to sports, but I now enjoy being active. At the beginning of last summer I was technically obese with a BMI of 35. But I decided to make a change, and I got my BMI down to 21 by losing nearly 100 pounds, and I have maintained that weight for five months now.

One of my biggest interests is academics. I love school and I love talking about school and related things. I like most subjects except history and social studies type things. I like math and sciences - especially calculus and chemistry - the most, but I also really enjoy English classes, particularly literature. I really don't enjoy biology as much, but I like it enough to do well. I really dislike history classes though..

Well, that's all I can think of for right now, and I actually managed to write a lot more than I thought I would! I know this forum isn't very active, but I'd love to answer some questions so I can get to know more people and make some more friends here on PC!

What made you decide to come back to PC, friend?

As your first name seems to be pretty unique, why are you named such?

What would you is the biggest difference between the '06 days here and the current days here? How would you say you changed as a person between then and now?

How did you end up losing 100 lbs? What would you say was the biggest hurdle to accomplish that feat? What's your target weight? And seriously though man, congrats on the weight loss. I could only imagine how tough and a pain in the arse it was to get to where you are now.

I've never actually left PC for an extended period of time; I just haven't been able to frequently post for the past few years because the only access I had was through the browser on my phone.

My name is actually a family name. I have some great-great- uncle I think whose name was Pleasant Field, and my dad and a great uncle also share the name.

There's been a ton of differences since I joined. The biggest ones would have to be staff changes and aesthetic changes - back then it seemed like everyone's signature consisted of a trainer card or some other clunky image. As a person, I've grown up a lot. I've matured a lot, and have developed more of my own personality.

I actually started losing weight for a PE course that I took online. I didn't want to feign my results so I actually put effort into exercising and watching what I was eating, and lost the weight. It took me three months to lose the first forty or so pounds, and after that I focused more on diet because I wasn't able to exercise as much. The hardest part about losing the weight was those first few pounds. Eventually I got used to the diet necessary to reliably lose 8-10 pounds a month, and I just stuck with it. I started out at 250 pounds, and my target weight was around 155 pounds. Right now I've gotten to where it fluctuates between 152 and 156.
