2nd Gen Not Team Rocket again!

Do you think the Johto games would have been better or worse if they had tried to invent a new evil team (or other form of antagonistic plot) instead of having TR try to make a (rather lame imo) recovery in the neighboring region?

Personally, I think it was nice seeing Team Rocket again. But I think I would have appreciated it more if there had been other games with other "evil teams" in between. Now it was just as if TR was the only evil team and thus we were that more surprised when R/S came with two new ones. G/S/C could have gotten a deeper plot if there had been a new team, but I still think it was nice that they kept TR as the main team in the Kanto/Johto part of the world.

I believe they expanded more on TR and seeing a bunch of new grunts and executives really made it interesting. Also the plot seemed fine to me. I don't think Gen 2 was independent enough to use a whole new team as it was still heavily connwcted to gen 1.


I'm not fond of FR and LG though as they retcon the simplicity of the stories

Hmm I think any other evil organisation would have been worse, cause team rocket doing a recovery and this time trying to take over on johto region was an interesting plot, I liked the idea of boss and executives and in the mahogany town team rocket base, non other than lance comes to help you whom you gonna battle in the Pokemon league.

I think it was better, since Kanto and Johto are right next to each other.
It made sense that there was a Kanto Branch, and a Johto Branch of Team Rocket.

But, if there was a new evil team, it would of been nice to see some conflict between the two teams.

Team Rocket was cool, but they could have had a second evil team in the same region. It would have been something like Team Aqua and Team Magma, but with something and Team Rocket.

Considering how close and connected Kanto and Johto are, I think it was only appropriate Team Rocket returned. Plus who doesn't love thwarting them idiots for a second time? Hahah

Team Rocket seemed like an appropriate choice, and since we didn't know about other evil teams in the Pokémon world at that point, introducing a new one might have seemed odd. I'm sure we would have adapted, but since Johto and Kanto are so connected, and since GSC were supposed to take place three years after RBY (and the sequel-like nature of that relationship was integral to the plot), it make sense to follow up on what had happened to Team Rocket. Plus, I don't know if an evil team unknown to Kanto could spring up and become a major force to be reckoned with in Johto in the span of a couple of years. (Well, I suppose a new team could have gotten started and grown, but it makes more sense to me to continue with the infrastructure laid out by Team Rocket.)

Considering Johto and Kanto are right next to each other, i think it makes sense for TR to try to make a recovery in the next region over. The plot worked well in Gen 2 and i personally liked it
