Isn't a shotgun wedding a sudden wedding that if the bride or groom tries to leave, the parents of the other person (Groom's parents if its the Bride; Bride's parents if its the Groom) can shoot the run away. I think thats what it is.
 
It doesn't have to involve shooting (or even a shotgun) at all. Just some kind of force is all that's needed. As the link I gave said, it's used to force a couple that has a baby on the way into a marriage to avoid embarassment.
 
Holy mother...eating turkey zonks me out...I think I slept for like 10 hours throughout the day today....
