I need to know what pokemon game I should buy

i would say platinum is the best as it has the most features such as gym leader rematches and elite 4 levels increase after the national dex is obtained, plus you can battle your rival on a weekend and his levels increase as you beat the elite 4 over and over (up to 85 i think)

Feature-wise, Platinum definitely has the most. Graphics-wise, it's most up-to-date. Story-wise, there's a lot more to do than in any other game. You'll probably end up buying that one.

But, I'd say you should play some of the older games as well. I'd buy Emerald and either FR or LG too. They're all fun, and all of them have unique elements that make them worth playing.
