Anime/Manga NP: The Theory of Slice of Life

720p tv releases. Highest possible quality for archiving, especially if it's a series I really like. A lot of the series I store are old so bluray rips are often out of the question.

I have a 2tb external and will probably need another one before the year is through. When I do I'll have my archive on one and my backlog on another.
Why 2TB if you archive only series you like...?
Wouldn't 120GB be enough in your case?

If you guys spoke about pre-2009 anime that aren't high school magic ♥♥♥♥ then maybe you'd discover I actually like a lot of things.

Although if you were being pedantic I suppose you could call my favourite show high school magic ♥♥♥♥.

Utena is one of those series all anime fans should watch, regardless of if you are or aren't a fan of shoujo. Lots of people don't really buy into that 'must see' type of mentality though, which is fair enough.

Oh ♥♥♥♥, the return of 8man has been confirmed. Glorious.

I don't know many pre-2009 anime that aren't super mainstream like Soul Eater or aren't still running like One Piece. I really only within the last few years got into it anyway

Same here; the shows one know of from the time before one actually got into the medium would make sense to be primarily the classics that people still often talk about. After all, they're memorable.

Which is why one often thinks things were better back in the day; no one remembers the mediocre stuff.

Pre-2009? Hmm, I know Slam Dunk, Berserk, Monster, Vampire Hunter D, LoGH, YYH, GITS, Akira et cetra. Lain and Noein too, iirc?

Dat 1980s, doe.

I want to watch Satoshi Kon stuff. Perfect Blue was great. Maybe Paprika? Or Millenium Actress? Paranoa Agent? Someone tell me which has the least nudity and adult stuff. :p

Perfect Blue was my least favourite thing Kon directed. Millennium Actress was pretty perfect, watch that next. Paprika had cool visuals and Paranoia Agent was a really fun ride.

I still have Tokyo Godfathers to watch. Soon.

That would probably be me dropping the only show I started from that year. I can't be arsed to go and check but I presume that would have been Candy Candy. A show I'm sure I'll enjoy but only has some pretty terrible video rips. I'll man up pick that up again one day.

Most of the shows I've seen come from the last 14 years. I've actually almost seen as many series in the last 4 years as I have from the entire 10 years before that. Guess it's east to spot where I started regularly watching things as they aired.

It's hard to talk about pre-2009 when most of us follow ongoing series ;)
Pre-2009, huh...? I have too many so I'll just write pre-2000.
Yu Yu Hakusho, Slayers, EVA, Lain, Trigun, CCS, Beebop. And movies.

I started watching on-going stuff with Kill la Kill in 2013. :3

also, lookie here, I wrote a mini review thingy on sakurasou
me on a site said:
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, despite the name and the fact that the first few episodes may have you believe that it is no more than a generic romantic school comedy, is actually a pretty good anime. Not many shows actually show how harsh reality can be at times. Things sometimes just do not work out for you no matter what. But that's life and you'll just have to accept it, learn from it and move on.

Characters were very sweet. Romance was well done. Visuals were great and most dramatic scenes were well choreographed. It somehow managed not to come off as far too melodramatic despite possessing the kind of scenes that'd GENERALLY come off as such.

All in all, a really good watch. I personally recommend it to anyone who is fond of shows like Anohana and the like. Trust me, it is much better than it sounds like. You'll especially find it a lot more emotionally moving if you can relate to the characters - which I could. And is one of the reasons I like it so much. Give it a shot if you haven't.

9/10.

Wait you rated it low because of the video rips? And yeah, the video rips are really bad. Even the manga scans are terrible, but I managed to read them. Really great shoujo stuff, one of my favorite shoujo manga. It's really silly how they made it into a 100+ show when the manga barely has 9 volumes.

Thank god that someone's doing quality release of Galaxy Express 999. The available rips can turn some people off, especially when good DVD and BD raws are out there. But I doubt they'll finish that quick, and I'm tempted to just continue watching the already available release.

^Yeah derp. Didn't see the 0. Thought it was 1. I should pay more attention. I know some people that do stuff like that, some people even rate low because they didn't like the subs haha.
