Sounds better. Shame I have no motivation to watch SE.

No way. Urobutcher's works are the cutest. We all know that.

Anyway, on a different note, Trigun just got waaaaaaaay more interesting after I saw episode 17 - the backstory of Vash. :3

Not sure how I survived without [One Pace]. Punk Hazard hasn't been draggy at all. Not sure I'll be able to go back to watching the regular release for this show again.

I hope the series is successful enough to make it to a Stone Ocean and Vento Aureo run. Those are some of my favorite sagas in the entire JoJo's series - and Stone Ocean is just cool for having a female lead in such a crazy setting.

Some of my very favourite series are of the shoujo demographic but I don't consume anyway near enough of it. Guess I'll get to Hana Yori Dango soon, and maybe Nana.

What are you guys' take on live action? Personally, I haven't seen any, but the opinions are very love or hate. Not really many middle grounders

Battle Royale live action was good, the first non-Ghibli Japanese film I saw. Most aren't particularly good though, ruined by bad acting or low production values.

Would have loved an HBO adaptation of Monster. Feels like that is dead though sadly.

I think a lot of the hate people have just comes from them not being able to get used to what's called the "trendy" drama style - basically the super mainstream. There's a very different sort of acting that goes in these shows than in something a bit more polished. I wouldn't necessarily call it bad acting, they're just going for different things. It also brings up another hurdle you need to surpass, getting used to Japanese acting in general because the sensibilities are always going to be pretty different from your typical Western show.

I like a lot of the anime/manga to drama adaptations I've seen, mostly the TV shows though. (Cat Street and Honey and Clover are my favorites) Movies aren't that great for adapting a long running story. But I've liked Japanese TV shows beyond anime for quite a while, so I'm used to a lot of those differences that strike people as odd on first experiences. (the at times comical amount of yelling and not facing someone as you talk to them is something that bugs newcomers a lot)

Was totally not a fan of the Battle Royale movie though. I had the same experience with that as I did with The Golden Compass - both movies felt like condensed versions of the story rather than a faithful adaptation.

Plenty of good acting in Japanese cinema. I haven't seen a lot of it in anime and manga adaptations, not that I've watched a lot. I've seen Attack Number 1, Death Note, Gantz, Initial D and some others. My biggest problem with Initial D was more the changing of certain characters. Bunta in the manga>>>>>>.

I like the Battle Royale film way more than the manga and novel. Some of the back stories in the source were just ridiculous. The fact that those were left out of the film made it feel a lot more realistic.

Your comment on ''trendy drama style'' was pretty funny. Or maybe you're right and what I see as unnatural is actually 2deep4me and I should stick to CSI.
