- Lost in thought... again
- Seen Mar 4, 2018
I've been playing NU for quite a while now, and I've done pretty well. Unfortunately, my team has seen better days and has seemed to lost its edge. Any advice is appreciated, and I'm up for anything, except replacing Cradily, he's a mainstay.
Cradily (M) @ Chesto Berry
Trait: Suction Cups
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Rock Slide
- Seed Bomb
- Curse
- Rest
This set was something I created after I saw Smogon's "one-attack" set, hated it, and came up with my own sweeper set. This set has scored many rage-quits and is the pride of my team. I throw Cradily out first to set up curses while the opponent is setting up entry hazards, rest off any damage I have taken, and continue to sweep. The only thing that has stopped Cradily when it was up and running (or walking with THAT speed) are focus blasts. I would really like it if I would respect my wishes and have all advice pertaining to Cradily be about its sweeping capabilities.
Weezing (F) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SDef / 252 Def
Modest Nature
- Clear Smog
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Toxic
Since fighting is a huge threat in this tier, I needed a fighting counter and Weezing was willing to fill in that role. With that amazing defense stat and outstanding coverage, Weezing has saved me many times from a would-be sweep from the hands of fighting types. I find Weezing, however, to be a bit lackluster sometimes and I think my team would benefit from a defensive wall with more offensive presence.
Swellow (M) @ Flame Orb
Trait: Guts
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Facade
- Protect
- U-turn
Nothing in NU hits quite like Swellow does and with it's blazing fast speed, Swellow isn't afraid to shift the battle's momentum in my favor. Jynx was a pretty big threat, but ever since I added Swellow, Jynx is no longer a threat since it's OHKO'd by Facade, with the guts boost of course.
Sawk (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Stone Edge
Sawk was a recent addition and has served me well. It hasn't been an outstanding team member like I thought it would be, but that could be a matter of over-expectations. Sawk is really good at getting rid of opposing Swellow and steel types that would otherwise wall my team.
Raichu (M) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Lightningrod
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
I've been switching out electric types for a while and finally decided to land on Raichu. With the electric immunity, it has been a great help with overcoming my team's electric weakness. With some rearranging of my team, electricity isn't the threat it used to be, but it's still nice to have the immunity.
Kangaskhan (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Return
- Sucker Punch
- Earthquake
No team, in my opinion, is quite ready for battle without a little priority. Kangaskhan has proven invaluable with priority to not only break focus sashes, but to also counter opposing psychic types. Since she is bulky enough, Kangaskhan can switch into opposing attacks and quickly shut down whatever is going on.
