Unlike Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver did not bring back the Pokéradar. So many used this feature of the game to hunt for shinies as they collected more and more of the unique different colored Pokémon. Luckily, the game still includes Shiny Pokémon by a rare encounter other than the Red Gyarados. This thread here is made for discussion on all the Shiny Pokémon you may have encountered in HG/SS and/or have have captured as well and how many at that.

Any questions you may have about Shiny Pokémon or information needed, there are threads made here to help you.

    Wow. No-one's posted in here?

I was looking back to see if there was a thread.
Anyway, I just found a Shiny Paras and Caught it during a Bug Catching Contest.

im really unlucky when it comes to shiny's..
none till now leave apart the red gyarados.

It's a downer that HeartGold and SoulSilver never brought back the PokéRadar, because it allowed many to explore a new interest in DPPt, Shiny Hunting. Although, for many who have never captured a Shiny, the Red Gyarados is a benefit to them.

ジャック Congratulations on your captured Paras (Smosh). A lucky encounter you had.

I hear that it is possible to catch shiny Pokemon on the PokeWalker, actually... if you're very lucky for that to be possible. Apparently you'll only be able to encounter shiny Pokemon on it depending on your Trainer ID and a hidden 'secret id' value (which are determined and set when you make a new game file) - the chance of having a favourable match from that isn't very high, and if you don't have it you will be unable to find any shiny Pokemon.

BUT if you have the right numbers there...then the chance of encountering a shiny in the Pokewalker? It becomes 1 in 32. Which is a very nice chance there if you're lucky to get the opportunity. XD

What's the use of posting that? lol
there isnt any pokewalker in HG/SS anyway...

That's nice info, it'll make shiny huntung so much easier if you have the special ID. But if you dont have the number you wont be able to find the Pokemon outright? Or the rate stays as normal?

Never caught a shiny ever, in my whole time of playing Pokemon for 11 years. Never found one except the red Gyarados. Any help?

Not much I can do to help you, I'm afraid.
    There's a 1/8192 chance of a Pokémon being shiny.
Your best chances of obtaining one are using the Pokéradar to boost the chances of finding one on Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.
There are other methods, however, if you're willing to waste several hours soft-resseting your game, and other things.

If you have the special, hidden ID number, then you're chances of finding a Shiny in the PokéWalker rises to a 1 in 32 chance. Which is a rather favorable rate in which one is bound to find a Shiny if they run into one. However, if the player does not have that special ID number, then their chances at encountering a Shiny in the PokéWalker is zero. :\

 Oh man I cant believe this! I was going to Celadon City from Saffron City through route 7, and I encountered a level 18 shiny Growlithe!!! Arcanine is my favorite Pokemon from Red, I cant wait to train it up! :D

What do you mean by special Id number?

Like explained above, the secret ID is basically a value set into your Trainer Card number. It's a value that is "determined and set" as said by bobandbill when you restart your game's file. It's unknown what it may be, but it is really based upon luck if you really want your chances to increase on finding a Shiny in your PokéWalker.

I've caught many shinies in my games, but never have I caught one in an emulator version. I was running to Mt. Silver when I found this:

And what luck! Adamant and 31 Attack IVs!

    Definitely my best shiny yet!

BTW, some text is in English because I have an English patch for my HG.

A guy in the serebiiforums said that there is a 3.125% chance to catch a shiny in the pokewalker.

I still haven't gotten Heart Gold yet. Waiting for it to release in the U.S :D

I might soft reset for some shinies when I get it though. I've already got a couple from Platinum :D

In fact, I realized just now, that the only random shinies I run into are on Emulators >_<

It just goes to show my luck..
