I have been really into HG and SS recently and I was wandering around the shop in the area and decided to buy a few packs of pokemon cards for fun to see if I could randomly get cards of my favourite pokemon :P I didnt succeed in that but I got a Foil Garchomp lvl X from the Majestic dawn set? Just wondering how saught after that card is and if it is worth anything

Hey well my friend has this japanese holo trainer its 1997 as his older bro got it in japan at that time its mint but he asked me to ask the value of it cause he was gonna throw it away being an old card but i said it might have value

i think it might have value not too sure as i started pokemon in 1999

Well, I suspect this is a trolling, since you haven't posted an actual picture that your or your friend has taken of the card, but Illustrator, if it's legit, will probably fetch a few thousand dollars.

There's your link to a Bulbapedia article on the card, which, by the way, is very, very rare. The article states that the most commonly accepted number of that card is 6.

Though, in my opinion, it may be a fake if it shows the copyright year on it, which does not appear on any of the known copies of Illustrator.

I'm no expert on card values, so it'd be best to hold off on flooding us with threads, as, despite 40,000+ active members, we have maybe 10 regulars who actually post in the TCG section, and I'm not one of the price experts. All of those members are currently offline right now.

I'd personally think they're worth a fair bit, but I'd wait until one of the member's that more knowledgeable price-wise to log on.

@blaze187: that's a lot of cards to look up. Have you ever tried checking values on ebay? The average price of a card on ebay is a very accurate indicator of how much the card is actually worth, and it is the only way to get a current estimate of a card. Some sites like pojo have price guides that are extremely outdated, but ebay is always current. I don't want to go through each card individually, but I can tell you that altogether the cards average at about $5. The blastoise cd promo might be worth more, you should check ebay for it.

@eurydice: you can get the black star promo surfing pikachu for about $1 right now.

As for the Illustrator, every time a rare card comes up for sale people everywhere start claiming to own a copy, it having been "sitting in a binder for years". It happened with the prerelease Raichu last year, and this year it's the Illustrator because one was listed on ebay a couple months ago. Inexplicably, none of these incredibly lucky owners happen to have cameras...
