4th Gen Official Johto Map Discussion

Is it possible in pokemon HG/SS that after u obtain kyroge/groudon that a cave appears after where red stands in Mt Silver which could lead to Rayquaza?

I don't understand why everybody keeps talking about capturing Kyogre and groudon in Johto. Has this been confirmed anywhere? If so, I think it's a stupid idea.

EDIT: Just found it on Serebii. I disagree completely. That is going to lessen then experience for me somewhat now.

It's an optional sidequest, you can just ignore them.

I think the new part of Goldenrod is the GTS. If you remember back to the Japanese version of Crystal, there was the PokeCom Center, or Pokemon Communications Center, so you could trade with people worldwide using a Mobile Phone connection. GTS. Global Trade Station. Wi-Fi Connection. Nuff said.

Like stated, the quest for Kyogre and Groudon are completely optional. Also, it won't mess up the first experience for the games as it comes after the defeat of the League and once the National PokéDex is obtained by the player. It is untold of if the two Hoenn Pokémon shall be found roaming or in a fixed location. However, with all the extra water and new cave openings found in the Johto map it might seem as though Kyogre and Groudon will be found somewhere fixed, while Rayquaza might be found roaming [or not as this is based on speculation]. So, basically you don't have to catch them if you don't want to, but it was put there so players can start catching the other generation Pokémon without much use of the GBA slots from the DS and DS lite.

Whatever the original West building was "GATE" might not have been a needed location before and might not be needed now. However, you are right, in the Japanese version there was a Communication Center within the Goldenrod PokéDex. This added on location to the English versions were never shared outside of Japan because like the US we had too many different phone services. So, because of this it would not have worked easily like it did in Japan. However, now that we all can someway or another access Wi-Fi hotspots or find it within our house, bringing this communication center back [as the new GTS] can work. So, it makes sense for the extended building on the west of the Radio Tower, but now that fans have kind of figured it out really, all the we wait for is final confirmation about it.

I have studied multiple maps, ect. distorted them, enhanced them, compared them, and I am confident that it is a GTS.

It's not the fact that you CAN catch them that irks me. It's the fact that they're THERE.

It might sounds trivial, but they are supposed to represent Hoenn (although I know some may choose to forget Gen III) and are thus supposed to be found there. Not in Johto.

I´m sure that Kanto wiil be in HG/SS. I think the new tower in Goldenrod city is the GTS and the new place in the left of the map is the Battle Frontier.

There is no need to say or even think remotely that there is a slight chance of Kanto being in. Even with "evidence" there is a reason why its called a remake. Everything in the damn original will return with extras. And the lack of buildings makes me say otherwise for the area west of Cianwood. Its behind a mansion of sorts so I have no idea.

@ Todoroki Is
He is right!!! It is a remake! It will have what the originals had.

Like one has said before, the remakes will not be exactly 1:1 to that of the originals. There will be differences in some of the areas and there will be new features included as well. Not to mention, the map itself shows areas have been altered compared to the originals. So, yes there will be the basic storyline and some areas that are like the originals, but I wouldn't say it will all be exact.

The area off of Cianwood is the HG/SS Pal park.

You know, besides simply saying this, evidential proof would be nice to include. Saying right off the back it is a Pal Park in the area off of Cianwood is quite redundant. The reason being is because there are other possibilities as well as the idea of the Pal Park not even being included because of the DSi. So, the area here can be the Pal Park, but I wouldn't say it IS as yet; not unless proof is shown.

Thanks for posting this!!!! I knew some of it but you pointed out a lot of things that I didn't see. So thank you very much!!!!!

We. Are. Idiots! in the middle of the hype we did not notice one major thing. There was originally supposed to be an area west of the radio tower:

Someone said this before but that looks like it says "GATE". If it does, there would have been something behind it. Maybe that area has been moved to the area west of the park or above Cianwood, to make way for the GTS (which fits with Goldenrod).
Another way to check if that Goldenrod addition is a GTS is to look and see if the PokeCenter looks larger than usual, as it would be the only other likely place for it to be. I think the pokecenter looks normal, so I'm pretty certain that the Goldenrod building is a GTS.

I know that, Actually I should have said something like that main points in the game won't be changed, like kanto being there.

I don't think there will be a pal park because the switch to dsi hardware that will be slowly happening.

Since this silly quote's been appearing again and again, why would an area that clearly didn't made it mid-development be reintroduced? That part of the city would've died more than twelve years ago!

By the way, that building west of the tower CANNOT be the GTS. Why? It's too tall - you're probably more accurate if you call it a "Global Terminal" (and there's no other tall building like that in Johto, so why not?)

Well i dunno there is also supposed to be an area west of Cianwood in the beta maps that are in the game but not in the style above the proper style we played so uh :p
And it could be the global terminal. Most likely is as well.

Hiroshi makes a good point. The Global Trade Station aka GTS in Diamond and Pearl was not a tall building, but more so a one story platform. However, in Platinum it was changed to a different structure that had more than one flooring and a variety of different accesses when compared to the original GTS. Then from there, the name was altered from GTS to Global Terminl because of its wider use and larger structer.

Looking at the similarity given from the map of the Global Terminal in Platinum and what's shown now, it is a better fit to call it the Global Terminal over a GTS. The building is too tall and therefore my contain more or less of what Platinum's Terminal introduced. From this we can probably expect the Battle Recorder to make another return in the games as well. Along with worldwide trade and battle videos to be seen from other game players.
