Don't know if anyone is still wondering, but I wouldn't put too much stock in trying to decode the names piece by piece this way. Ne appears in a lot of names. For instance: Eneko (Skitty), Nendooru (Claydol), Fushigidane (Bulbasaur), etc. and they don't have any sound related qualities.

And now back to your regularly scheduled speculation.

But for Mawile to get an evolution, Sableye has to get one, too. And I don't see the latter occuring.

And, just clever horse? Well at least that would make a little more sense.

You have pratically said that no defensive fire pokemon can evolve because it'll be a heatran copy...
Well the AI is low for wild pokemon...
Plus it's pure fire on the list so it won't have Heatran's typing either if that's what you're thinking...

Clever Horse... Horse Pokemon with High SP ATK xD Plus Skitty, Claydol, and Bulbasaur all make sound none are mute so yeah...sound still applies xD

Moveset can change... Evo means new moves it can acquire after it evolves... Heatran is 1 for every 1 volcano... where as Torkoal is 1 every patch of grass you encounter it in... Meaning more of them then Heatran... Pokabu should be Fire/Steel anyways as it would be epic... Pig in battle armor hellz yeah...

This is also what I mean. Yeah Pokabu being Fire/Steel would be Awesome!

Why would sableye have to get an evo? I never considered them to be like each other.

its not set in stone that an evolution has to have the same stat pattern.

He could become a lot faster but less defensive.
 
Mawile is the exclusive for Ruby, Sableye is the exclusive for Sapphire, thus as a result, they are the the R/S opposites of eachother, so if Mawile officially got an evolution, Sableye would have to, too, in order to maintain the balance between the two, and no, Spiritomb wouldn't count. It would need to be an actual evolution.

It's like Zangoose/Seviper, Ninetales/Arcanine, etc.

You have a point but I still think that Mawile is getting an evo and Sableye isnt. The unlisted type rumor is appearing to be more and more true. No other steel pokemon could fit the typing for evolving except mawile.
 
...and? It doesn't mean it has to be an evolution of an old Pokemon. It might just possibly be a new steel Pokemon.

Guys, the person who posted th Pokedex type listing rumor on 2ch says they are all legendaries.

Dusclops got an evolution and Banette didn't.
 
That would make for a total of 16 Legendary Pokemon... I doubt it, though the number has only increased since the beginning.
 
idk to me they stand out less than Mawile/Sableye, but I guess that's just me. Imo if Mawile got an evolution it might improve its stats but it could look... weird.

I'm just hoping it's only a rumour.
 
Another good point...

I'm still leaning towards it being unlikely in opposition terms but still, as long as Seviper/Zangoose doesn't follow that pattern then I guess I'll accept it easier if it's true.
