I don't think i could play a singleround of any game that takes 8 hours thats a long time to be sitting in a chair.

I dunno if I'd say it's better for that reason- after all, they're completely different genres.

And generally the problem with games where you can do whatever you want (especially space games like Elite Dangerous and, soon, No Man's Sky) is that there's really not much to do, making them fun for a time but not much longer, because they give you free space to roam but leave the what largely to you without supplying much.
