I guess it's kind of weird how some people distrust all politicians but mindlessly throw their money at certain companies without a thought about what moral crimes they could be committing. Vote with your wallet, we say.

Well you have to consider that one is a lot more talked about than the other, and the reliance on one thing isn't the same as the other. For instance, if Walmart does something shitty, the opinion of them is worse BUT they also have good deals, so regardless people are still willing to hold that lowered opinion and still shop there, because they have deals that other stores don't have. Similarly, banks hold our money, but the likely that specifically your money will be compromised is pretty unlikely- it's basically the same thing, we rely on them for a specific service but the idea that our money will be mishandled isn't exactly at the forefront of our minds unless there's a truly front page, ongoing bank scandal.

But with politicians, it's different. With politicians, if they do something shitty, we'll know right away. If they do something good...well, that's their job. But the point is, theoretically they support us, but we don't directly rely on them, nor do they directly provide us with service. Because of this and the fact that there's always bad news about politicians, our opinions of them can be sullied far further than with the businesses and banks that we deal with because, hey, if a politician does something bad then that means they're not just wronging you, but they're wronging the whole country. And with so many political scandals and plots constantly going on, this idea gets perpetuated, even if those who are shitting on the politicians can't actually name instances of them doing anything wrong. Political comedians also help in this because they reach out to a demographic that wouldn't otherwise care.

So, yup. Don't particularly care for politics myself, but this certainly seems to be the case.

I went to the Olympic hotsprings 2 weeks ago. First time experiencing it. Great stuff, could even smell the sulfur lol. I should upload the pics on Facebook heh.

Public Servants/Politicians typically want to serve the community, heck most of the time they do represent the beliefs of the plurality/Majority that vote them in. It's as you said mamo, still in a representative democracy, they have to grapple with a lot of things so yeah.
