Im bored today and I just finished reading the Manga and I got this idea for writing this fic. It's kinda my version of what happened before everything happened. Before they took on the 80 days thing, and stuff. So here it is!

    Prologue

Ruby sat under a tree with his Mightyena, Nana lying next to him. The leaves rustled quietly in the ocean mist. Ruby was the most tranquil as he's ever been, so was Nana. The waves crashed against the sandy beach.

"Ruby! Ruby! RUBY!" A young boy shouted.

Ruby sighed. He stood up, smacking his head on a branch. Ruby opened his eyes to find Wally, standing before him. "What do you want Wally?" Ruby asked rubbing his head.

Wally coughed and took a deep breath. "Sapphire is looking for you!"

Ruby smiled. He ran towards a large building sitting on top of a hill, overlooking the Hoenn Region. He trudged up the hill. He fell down on his stomach. He exhaled. "Why did they build this place on the steepest hill in Hoenn? Why not in a nice, low, flat valley?"

He pushed himself off the ground and brushed his clothes off. He looked down at Nana who was panting heavily. Ruby rubbed its head and smiled. He clenched his fist. "Come on Nana! We can make it! I hope." Nana nodded and darted up the hill. Ruby ran after it.

"Oh my god! This hill is sooo steep!" Ruby moaned crawling up the hill. Nana tried to drag itself up the hill. When they finally made it to the top; Ruby fell into the large wooden door, pushing it open. Ruby fell to the floor and sighed.

Nana jumped off his back and onto the carpeted foyer.

    Ruby moaned. "Nana!"

Nana turned its head to Ruby. It licked his face. Ruby turned a little red.

A pair of orange and white trainers stepped in front of Ruby. Ruby looked up to see Sapphire standing before him.

Sapphire stuck out her hand. Ruby grabbed it and she helped him up.

"They really need to relocate this place." Ruby laughed.

Sapphire smiled. "They sure do. I mean, I like that it's along the beach and all but, the hill is way too steep."

Ruby put his hand on her shoulder. "Welcome to my world."

Sapphire giggled. "Where do you get these sayings, Ruby?"

Ruby shrugged. "I don't know. I guess they just pop in my head. And my brain tells me to say them."

    Sapphire looked confused.

Ruby laughed." They just come to me."

    "Oh." Sapphire said.

They stood in silence for a little while. Then started laughing.

"See Ruby? That's why we're friends! We make each other laugh." Sapphire giggled.

    Ruby nodded. "That is true."

Nana began pawing at the floor. Nana ran down the hall and up a staircase that spiraled upwards.

"Nana!" Ruby shouted running after it. Sapphire ran close behind.

Their feet pattered against the hardwood floors. Ruby skidded to a stop, pushing up a carpet.

"Which staircase did Nana go up?" Ruby asked.

Sapphire looked at the left staircase, then the right one. She pointed to the left staircase. "You go left and I'll go right!"

Ruby nodded. He darted up the left staircase and Sapphire dashed up the right one.

Ruby cupped his hands around his mouth. "Nana! Nana! I've got some Pokeblock for you!" Ruby heard a cry from a room down the hall. "Nana?" Ruby dashed down the hallway and into the room.

A little boy with green hair lay on a bed with Nana lying next to him, sleeping.

    Ruby leaned against the doorframe.

"Ruby! Did you find---" Sapphire shouted coming down the hall. She stood next to Ruby. "Is that--"?

"Wally and Nana?" Ruby replied. He nodded. "Yeah. It is."

Sapphire walked over to the bed. Ruby grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

"Leave them. Nana will be fine. Wally will take care of it." Ruby whispered.

Sapphire nodded. The quietly walked down the hallway. The wooden floorboards creaking as they took each step. They walked down the spiraling staircase.

"Ruby!" A voice shouted over an intercom.

Ruby turned to a speaker mounted up in the corner.

"Report to Mr. Stone's office...IMEDIATLEY!" The voice shouted.

Sapphire turned to Ruby with a depressed look on her face. "What did you do Ruby?"

"I don't know! Maybe he wants to kick me out of this place." Ruby replied.

Sapphire sighed. "Either way, if you need back-up...I'm here."

Ruby smiled. He walked down the hall with Sapphire by his side. They stopped in front of a glass door with the words "JON STONE" printed in bold black letters.

Ruby sighed and turned to Sapphire. He turned back to the door. He turned the knob and pushed it open.

Mr. Stone sat at his large brown leather chair holding a black phone in his hand. He held it towards Ruby.

Ruby walked over and took the phone from Mr. Stone. He put the phone to his ear. "Hello?"

    "Hello Ruby."

    Ruby looked puzzled. "Speaking?"

"You should know who I am."

    "I should, but I don't."

"Listen you brat! I'm your father! If you can't tell that your father is on the phone then you must be more stupid than I thought!"

"Like I'm supposed to know what you sound like! I haven't seen you in years! You dumped me off at this place!" Ruby yelled into the phone.

"Look Ruby, I'm going to come and get you and take you back to Petalburg Gym with me."

Ruby's eyes widened. "What? But I don't want to go to back to the gym with you. I'd leave behind too many friends."

    "Like who?"

    "Like...Sapphire...Wally..."

"Hmph! Sapphire is your only friend there! And besides, she's more of a son you'll ever be!"

Ruby didn't respond. He slammed the phone down on the receiver and stormed out of the room.

He pushed the door open and walked over to the main staircase and sat there.

"Ruby?" Sapphire asked. She ran up to him and sat down next to him. "So, what did Mr. Stone say?"

Ruby buried his face in his arms that were set on his knees. "Nothing. I was talking to my dad."

"Your dad? Well that's good, right?" Sapphire asked.

Ruby shook his head. "No it's not. My dad wanted to take me back to the gym with him and I said no because I didn't want to leave my friends behind. And he asked what friends? And I told him you and Wally. And then he said 'Hmph! Sapphire is your only friend there! And besides, she's more of a son you'll ever be!'"

Sapphire bowed her head. "Ruby, I-I is so sorry."

Ruby picked his head up. "It's okay. It's not the first time he's said something like that."

Sapphire wiped her eyes. She wrapped her arms around Ruby's neck. "I'm just glad you're not leaving!" She cried.

Ruby put his arm around her and smiled. "Me too Sapphire, me too."

So...how'd ya like it???? I think I did fairly well. I'll try and get Chapter 1 posted today or A.S.A.P, and If I can't, then I can't.

Chapter 1 and still no replies?

Hmm....no replies? Maybe no one likes Franticshipping :( oh well....

    Chapter 1

Ruby lay on the grassy hill watching the clouds roll overhead. The breeze was more of gusts of winds than a breeze today. Ruby smiled. He liked that he could sit out here and not have a care in the world.

Sapphire walked over and sat down next to him. She brought her knees to her chest. She looked up at the puffy white clouds, then down at Ruby. Ruby turned to Sapphire.

"Hi, what are you doing here?" Ruby asked politley.

Sapphire shrugged. "I don't know. I'm bored and I don't wanna be stuck inside all day."

Ruby turned back to the sky and nodded. "Not a gray cloud in the sky, unlike usual."

"What do you mean?" Sapphire asked.

"Usually, there's at least one gray cloud in the sky. But today there isn't." Ruby replied.

Sapphire smiled. "Maybe your gaurdian angel sensed you like to be out here a lot and made all the gray clouds dissapear."

Ruby laughed a little. "You have a very active imagination...but I like that."

Sapphire smiled. "Really? Usually when I say something like that, people think I'm crazy."

Ruby pushed himself up on his elbows. "You kind of are crazy."

Sapphire's jaw dropped. She pushed Ruby to the ground.

Ruby covered his mouth with his arm. "I'm kidding! I'm kidding jeeze."

Sapphire turned and crossed her arms. "It's still not nice."

Ruby wrapped his arms around Sapphire's neck. "I'm starting to think you don't have a sense of humor either." He whispered in her ear.

Sapphire sighed. "I do have a sense of humor!" She stated.

Ruby let go of her. Sapphire turned around.

Ruby smiled and turned back to the sky. He stood up. Ruby's foot slipped and he fell back and rolled halfway down the hill. He stood up. He pulled his hat down. He brushed off his clothes. He picked a peice of grass out of his hair.

"Ruby! Are you okay!" Sapphire shouted.

"Yeah! I'm fine!" Ruby shouted back. He began to make his climb up the hill. He looked over his shoulder and saw a man with a Slacking by his side. "Oh crud!" Ruby ran up the hill as fast as he could.

Sapphire grabbed Ruby's arm and pulled him to the top. Ruby stumbled to his feet and ran twoards the building.

"Ruby?!" Sapphire shouted running in after him. Ruby ran up the stairs and into his room and slammed the door shut.

Sapphire fanned herself with her hand. She narrowed her eyes. "What was that about!?"

Ruby searched around the cluttered room. "My dad is here to come and take me back to Petalburg with him!"

He pulled open the window. He grabbed his bag and threw it over his shoulder.

"Where are you going!" Sapphire demanded.

Ruby turned to Sapphire. "I'm leaving. I can't stand my dad anymore! And your comming with me."

Sapphire put her hands on her hips. "I'm not going anywhere. He's just gonna find you again. And then you'll be a dead man and I'm the only one that isn't going to be crying at your funeral."

Ruby looked at her. "A few things wrong with that statement, Sapphire. One, I'm only twelve! I'm not a man yet. And two, they won't find me because this time your comming with me so you can't tell them!" Ruby's red eyes began to water.

Sapphire looked at him and sighed. "Fine."

    Ruby smiled. "Thanks Sapphire."

Sapphire rolled her blue eyes. "If you weren't my friend I would've said no."

They walked down the corridor and to the staircase. They quietly walked down the stairs. Ruby led them to the back door facing Littleroot Town. The walked down a dirt road that snaked down the hill.

"I can't believe I'm doing this." Sapphire mumbled.

Ruby put his hands behind his head. "You're doing this because you love me." He smirked.

Sapphire looked at him and raised her eyebrow. "Whatever. Say what you want. We're only friends and that's all we'll ever be."

Ruby turned away. Fine then, that's all you wanna be? Fine by me, I never liked you anyway.....okay I have! Happy conscience?!

They walked the rest of the way in silence. Thinking about what the other said.

    OMG still no comments?!

Why has no one replied yet?!??!?!?! Whatever....

    Chapter 2

Sapphire stopped in her tracks. She looked over at Ruby. "Ruby...why did you say that?"

Ruby looked at her. "........I don't know, exactly. I guess I just said it."

Sapphire started walking again. "But that still doesn't explain why you said it. I know you were just joking around, you were joking around weren't you?"

Ruby looked at the ground. "Ye--I don't no Sapphire. Can we change the subject?!"

Sapphire jumped in front of him. "No! Not until you tell me why you said that!"

Ruby turned away. "I guess I said it because...I kinda like you."

Sapphire looked at him and sighed. "Ruby....I I like you too but not like like."

Ruby stuck his hands in his pockets. "That's fine...I guess." Ruby kept on walking.

Sapphire trotted to catch up to him. She put a piece of hair behind her ear. She sighed. "Don't tell me you aren't going to talk to me?"

Ruby slightly shook his head. "No, I just won't talk to you about said topic."

Sapphire smiled. "Good." She looked up at the clouds. They looked like Ruby's white hat. Sapphire laughed a little.

Ruby looked over at her. "What's so funny?"

    "Nothing." Sapphire replied.

"Your thinking about me aren't you!" Ruby snapped.

"Cool it Ruby. Yes I was thinking about you and how the clouds looked like your hat." Sapphire replied pointing to the clouds rolling overhead.

Ruby looked up. He nodded and smiled a little. "Yeah, I guess they do. And I guess you do have a sense of humor after all."

Sapphire smiled. "I knew I did and I knew you knew I did."

A puzzled look took over Ruby's face. "English please?"

Sapphire giggled. "It means I knew you knew I had a sense of humor all along."

    "What?" Ruby asked.

Sapphire shook her head. "I'm not saying it again."

Ruby put his hands behind his head and looked up. "Fine. Don't teach me."

Sapphire leaned over and pushed Ruby.

"Hey!" Ruby shouted making a fist.

Sapphire turned and crossed her arms. "Oh hush Ruby. Your dad was right, I am more of a son than you."

Ruby looked depressed. He uncurled his fingers. He looked at the ground. "I can't believe you just said that Sapphire." Ruby fell to his knees.

Sapphire looked at her sobbing friend. "Ruby...I-" She got down in front of him. "Ruby...I didn't mean it."

Ruby wiped his eyes with his gloved hand. "You sounded like you mean it." He sobbed.

Sapphire held his hand. "Ruby, I'm sorry." Tears rolled down her cheeks. Sapphire wiped her eyes and looked at Ruby. She held Ruby's head up. His red eyes were filled with tears. Sapphire leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.

Ruby turned a little red. He looked at Sapphire's smiling face. He wrapped his arm around her. "Sapphire..."

Sapphire wrapped her arms around his neck and set her head on his shoulder. "Ruby...I can't stand to see you cry."

"I can't stand to see you cry either. You're my best friend and probably my only friend." Ruby cried.

"Ruby don't think that." Sapphire replied. She put her hand on the back of his head.

Ruby let go of her and looked at her. He smiled. "Sapphire thank-you."

    "For what?" She asked.

"For everything that you've ever done for me." Ruby replied. He leaned in and kissed Sapphire on the cheek. He stood up. Ruby held his hand out.

Sapphire looked at him. She grabbed his hand and stood up. They walked down the rest of the path to Oldale Town.

I know, Kind of short, but I have strep throat and I wanna go rest. I hope you like it :)

Np. I'm staying after school tomorrow afternoon with my mum and she as a meeting, so after I do my homework, I should be able to get a good part of the next chapter in.

I can't believe Ruby just broke down into tears like that. You'd think he'd be stronger, given the events of the manga, but does this take place in a seperate continuity? Because I thought Ruby & Sapphire admited their feelings, & that Ruby patched things up with his Dad. That aside, to think Sapphire dosen't want to be anything more than friends. At 1st it sounded like they were already dating or right about to. I like this fic a lot so far. Keep it up.

Idk. It's a FAN-fic. And I don't find it hard to believe Ruby broke down into tears like that cause he's kinda a sissy. And besides, my friend wrote that chapter.

Still. I know its a fanfic & I didn't mean to sound critisizing if I did. Your friend certainly did a good job on that chapter. ^_^ I like the whole thing, but still.

this is good stuff. Can't wait for the next chapter ^_^.

    Chapter 3

I'm glad your all liking it! Please check out my other fics too!

    Chapter 3

The two of them walked along the path to Petalburg. Sapphire peered around the corner and saw Ruby's dad standing by the gym talking to someone.

    Sapphire stopped in her tracks.

Ruby turned and looked at her. "What are you waiting for? Lets go."

Sapphire shook her head. "No. Your dad is there and I don't want him hurting you, or me."

Ruby sighed. "He can't hurt you, I know he can hurt me but---just lets go." Ruby grabbed Sapphire's arm.

Sapphire whirled around, forcing Ruby to let go of her. "Ruby just stop!" She pouted. "I'm not going to let you face your father like that. He's just going to hurt you more than you already are."(I'm sorry if that didn't make sense)

"Look Sapphire. I don't want him hurting me either, but we have to go that way." Ruby said pointing in the direction to Petalburg.

"And why do we have to?" Sapphire asked raising her eyebrow.

"Because, that's the only way to go where we have to go." Ruby replied.

"Wait." Sapphire stopped him. "Where are we even going?"

    Ruby smirked. "Sky Pillar."

Sapphire's eyes widened. "Sky Pillar?! You've got to be kidding me Ruby!"

Ruby shrugged. "Well there's no where else to go. You try and think of some place better." Ruby kept on walking.

"Wait! Can't we go another way?" Sapphire asked.

Ruby rubbed his chin with his index finger and thumb. "Maybe...Mr. Briney can take us on his ship to Dewford and we can reach Sky Pillar from there?"

Sapphire's shoulders drooped. "But Mr. Briney is in Petalburg you idiot!"

"Well we can cut through the trees?" Ruby suggested.

Sapphire nodded. "Sounds good to me. As long as we don't get lost."

Ruby and Sapphire began walking through the dense trees that surrounded Petalburg.

"How are we gonna get lost?" Ruby laughed. He stopped in the middle of an intersection.

Sapphire crossed her arms. "Nice going genius."

"I'm not exactly thrilled either! And I am a genius!" Ruby stated. He looked down each path. He nodded toward the one going straight foward. "This one."

"You sure?" Sapphire asked following Ruby.

"I'm pretty sure, even though I took a wild guess." Ruby smiled.

    "Ruby!" Sapphire screamed.

"I'm kidding I'm kidding." Ruby assured.

Sapphire stayed close to Ruby. She looked around at the pokemon in the trees. "Ruby this place is freaking me out. When are we gonna get out of here?" Sapphire's voice trembled.

"Soon Sapphire. Just stay close okay?" Ruby said.

Sapphire nodded. "Okay." She looked up at a tree. Two Seedot sat together sleeping. Like a little couple. "Ruby look." Sapphire pointed to the Seedot. "Aren't they cute?"

    Ruby nodded. "Yeah sure."

Sapphire turned Ruby to the Seedot. "Just walk a little slower and open up your eyes." Sapphire said to him.

Ruby looked up at the two little Seedot. He smiled. "They are cute."

Sapphire smiled. "Just goes to show, you don't need money to appreciate the little things in life. You just need friends and a whole lotta love."

Ruby looked at her and smiled. "Yeah. I guess it does."

Ruby pressed on. Sapphire following him.

Ruby peered out through the trees. He looked left then right, then striaght ahead. Mr. Briney's cottage sat there with the boat at the dock. Ruby's face lit up. "Mr. Briney's Cottage!"

Ruby dashed out into the open. Sapphire ran after him. Ruby looked over his shoulder at Sapphire. He bumped into something, or someone. He looked up to see his dad.

"Hello Ruby. Nice to see you." His dad said.

Ruby turned away. "Wish I could say the same."

His dad rolled his eyes. "Where we're you two going?" He looked over at Sapphire.

Sapphire put her hand on the back of her head. "Um. We were going to go to see Mr. Briney and....and....and......" Sapphire searched her mind for an answer.

    "And Peko!" Ruby quickly shouted.

    His dad raised his eyebrow.

"Yeah. We just love to see Peko. So if you'll let us go--" Ruby began saying.

His dad put his hand on Ruby's head, pushing him back. "I'm not letting you go until you tell me what you're really up to."

"Fine. We were going to go to Spear Pillar." Ruby confessed.

His dad took his hand off and wiped it on his jacket. He nodded. "Fine then. Go."

    Ruby looked puzzled. "Really?"

His dad nodded. "Yes. Because if you get stuck there, I won't ever have to see your smug little face again."

Ruby made a fist. Sapphire ran over and grabbed Ruby and pulled him over to Mr. Briney's cottage.

"What were you thinking!" Sapphire said in a loud whisper.

"I was thinking that I'm through letting my dad push me around. It's time I take a stand for myself." Ruby replied.

"Well you can do that once we catch Rayquaza." Sapphire said.

Ruby looked at her. "Catch Rayquaza? You're seriously going to try and catch Rayquaza?"

"We are going to catch Rayquaza." Sapphire smiled.

Ruby flashed a smile back. "Cool. Now lets do this." Ruby held out his hand.

    Sapphire grabbed it and smiled.

Ruby laughed a little. "Your smiles are contagious."

Sapphire smiled, again. "I know." She kissed Ruby on the cheek and turned to Mr. Briney's cottage.

Ruby looked over at his dad walking back to the gym. Not looking back at him. Ruby bowed his head. A single tear shed from the corner of his eye when he blinked.

Soooo how'd you like it? I know I know, I need to work on length but other than that how was it?

Yeah but I can go on and on and on, usually until some one puts a hand over my mouth, and that doesn't work have the time. Sometimes the only way to get me to shut up is to stick a sock in my mouth. That works. Back to the original not....chapter four i'm sure will be just as good if not better then the others.

Very nice! You spelt were like we're but no big. No one cares, just a friendly correction. I love it so far. I can't wait to see more!

Since Dark_Aero is going to be out of commission for a while, I'm going to close this. Nothing wrong with the story at all. Just no point in leaving this open when Dark_Aero can't respond to reviews.
