Im bored today and I just finished reading the Manga and I got this idea for writing this fic. It's kinda my version of what happened before everything happened. Before they took on the 80 days thing, and stuff. So here it is!
Prologue
Ruby sat under a tree with his Mightyena, Nana lying next to him. The leaves rustled quietly in the ocean mist. Ruby was the most tranquil as he's ever been, so was Nana. The waves crashed against the sandy beach.
"Ruby! Ruby! RUBY!" A young boy shouted.
Ruby sighed. He stood up, smacking his head on a branch. Ruby opened his eyes to find Wally, standing before him. "What do you want Wally?" Ruby asked rubbing his head.
Wally coughed and took a deep breath. "Sapphire is looking for you!"
Ruby smiled. He ran towards a large building sitting on top of a hill, overlooking the Hoenn Region. He trudged up the hill. He fell down on his stomach. He exhaled. "Why did they build this place on the steepest hill in Hoenn? Why not in a nice, low, flat valley?"
He pushed himself off the ground and brushed his clothes off. He looked down at Nana who was panting heavily. Ruby rubbed its head and smiled. He clenched his fist. "Come on Nana! We can make it! I hope." Nana nodded and darted up the hill. Ruby ran after it.
"Oh my god! This hill is sooo steep!" Ruby moaned crawling up the hill. Nana tried to drag itself up the hill. When they finally made it to the top; Ruby fell into the large wooden door, pushing it open. Ruby fell to the floor and sighed.
Nana jumped off his back and onto the carpeted foyer.
Ruby moaned. "Nana!"
Nana turned its head to Ruby. It licked his face. Ruby turned a little red.
A pair of orange and white trainers stepped in front of Ruby. Ruby looked up to see Sapphire standing before him.
Sapphire stuck out her hand. Ruby grabbed it and she helped him up.
"They really need to relocate this place." Ruby laughed.
Sapphire smiled. "They sure do. I mean, I like that it's along the beach and all but, the hill is way too steep."
Ruby put his hand on her shoulder. "Welcome to my world."
Sapphire giggled. "Where do you get these sayings, Ruby?"
Ruby shrugged. "I don't know. I guess they just pop in my head. And my brain tells me to say them."
Sapphire looked confused.
Ruby laughed." They just come to me."
"Oh." Sapphire said.
They stood in silence for a little while. Then started laughing.
"See Ruby? That's why we're friends! We make each other laugh." Sapphire giggled.
Ruby nodded. "That is true."
Nana began pawing at the floor. Nana ran down the hall and up a staircase that spiraled upwards.
"Nana!" Ruby shouted running after it. Sapphire ran close behind.
Their feet pattered against the hardwood floors. Ruby skidded to a stop, pushing up a carpet.
"Which staircase did Nana go up?" Ruby asked.
Sapphire looked at the left staircase, then the right one. She pointed to the left staircase. "You go left and I'll go right!"
Ruby nodded. He darted up the left staircase and Sapphire dashed up the right one.
Ruby cupped his hands around his mouth. "Nana! Nana! I've got some Pokeblock for you!" Ruby heard a cry from a room down the hall. "Nana?" Ruby dashed down the hallway and into the room.
A little boy with green hair lay on a bed with Nana lying next to him, sleeping.
Ruby leaned against the doorframe.
"Ruby! Did you find---" Sapphire shouted coming down the hall. She stood next to Ruby. "Is that--"?
"Wally and Nana?" Ruby replied. He nodded. "Yeah. It is."
Sapphire walked over to the bed. Ruby grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"Leave them. Nana will be fine. Wally will take care of it." Ruby whispered.
Sapphire nodded. The quietly walked down the hallway. The wooden floorboards creaking as they took each step. They walked down the spiraling staircase.
"Ruby!" A voice shouted over an intercom.
Ruby turned to a speaker mounted up in the corner.
"Report to Mr. Stone's office...IMEDIATLEY!" The voice shouted.
Sapphire turned to Ruby with a depressed look on her face. "What did you do Ruby?"
"I don't know! Maybe he wants to kick me out of this place." Ruby replied.
Sapphire sighed. "Either way, if you need back-up...I'm here."
Ruby smiled. He walked down the hall with Sapphire by his side. They stopped in front of a glass door with the words "JON STONE" printed in bold black letters.
Ruby sighed and turned to Sapphire. He turned back to the door. He turned the knob and pushed it open.
Mr. Stone sat at his large brown leather chair holding a black phone in his hand. He held it towards Ruby.
Ruby walked over and took the phone from Mr. Stone. He put the phone to his ear. "Hello?"
"Hello Ruby."
Ruby looked puzzled. "Speaking?"
"You should know who I am."
"I should, but I don't."
"Listen you brat! I'm your father! If you can't tell that your father is on the phone then you must be more stupid than I thought!"
"Like I'm supposed to know what you sound like! I haven't seen you in years! You dumped me off at this place!" Ruby yelled into the phone.
"Look Ruby, I'm going to come and get you and take you back to Petalburg Gym with me."
Ruby's eyes widened. "What? But I don't want to go to back to the gym with you. I'd leave behind too many friends."
"Like who?"
"Like...Sapphire...Wally..."
"Hmph! Sapphire is your only friend there! And besides, she's more of a son you'll ever be!"
Ruby didn't respond. He slammed the phone down on the receiver and stormed out of the room.
He pushed the door open and walked over to the main staircase and sat there.
"Ruby?" Sapphire asked. She ran up to him and sat down next to him. "So, what did Mr. Stone say?"
Ruby buried his face in his arms that were set on his knees. "Nothing. I was talking to my dad."
"Your dad? Well that's good, right?" Sapphire asked.
Ruby shook his head. "No it's not. My dad wanted to take me back to the gym with him and I said no because I didn't want to leave my friends behind. And he asked what friends? And I told him you and Wally. And then he said 'Hmph! Sapphire is your only friend there! And besides, she's more of a son you'll ever be!'"
Sapphire bowed her head. "Ruby, I-I is so sorry."
Ruby picked his head up. "It's okay. It's not the first time he's said something like that."
Sapphire wiped her eyes. She wrapped her arms around Ruby's neck. "I'm just glad you're not leaving!" She cried.
Ruby put his arm around her and smiled. "Me too Sapphire, me too."
So...how'd ya like it???? I think I did fairly well. I'll try and get Chapter 1 posted today or A.S.A.P, and If I can't, then I can't.
