I was scared, terrified really. But I followed him, even though my brain was screaming for me to get Dena to a doctor. For some reason, I just wasn't able to do anything but move after him, despite my efforts. "First things first, I need my sister to get some medical attention." I managed to say, though now it was in a meek tone.

"A doctor wont save her." The man said, now walking faster. "I can, but you need to tell me EXACTLY what has happened recently. If you wish to get out of this with your lives, you must, or else you're doomed." He said, in a serious tone. "If worse comes to worse, I'll have to do THAT to her..."

"Fine," I began, still unnable to bring myself to stop folloing him. I took adeep breath, and then began to tell him about all that I remembered, from the crash, to the school, to the dance, right up until the point where we had met him. "And that's all I know, honestly." I said, still carrying Dena on my shoulder.

"Perhaps there is..." The old man said, mostly to himself, as we arrived in front of a rundown old shack in the middle of the city, surrounded by fields. "Come inside, and place the child in the bed. I need to get a look at her, and if worse comes to worse, I'll have to.... Er, nevermind that for now."

"Fine," I said, not really thinking about what he said, or else I would have questioned him. I moved inside the small shack, but I didn't say anything about where he lived. I didn't want to offend him if he could help dena. I waked over to the bed, and gently set her down on it, before I backed away to give the man enough room.

"Not good..." The man said after pulling my shirt up so it showed the wound, and indicated how the skin was turning black around the wound, and it was expanding, beginning to cover more area. "He tainted the pipe before hitting her with it it seems." He walked back to a closet, and pulled out a staff, that strangely resembled that of an ancient wizard. " There's only one hope for her."

"Err," I said, I was so suprised seeing him pull a big stick from the closet, that I almost fell over backwards. What did he plan to do with that thing? Beat her back into good health? I would have been yelling all this and more at him, but I seemed to be in dire shock...

"This is really all I can do." He said, as the staff shot a pink beam at her, the wound healing completely, but the infected area not going away. "That will stop it from infecting her anymore, but it could take up to a year for her to regain her strength again. During that year, you're all going to train with me, if you want to live that is."

"Arkan, the being who came after you, messes with the heads of people before they die for his own entertainment. Just like what he did to you." He looked around for something, and pulled out an old book from a nearby shelf. "According to this, you need to defeat him to regain your original forms, and to do that, you need to unlock the powers hidden deep within your heart."

I began stirring, and my eyes opened slightly. I was in a bed? How?

"Ah, she's awake." The man said as he placed his hand on my forehead. "Just as I thought, she has a very high fever. Tonight will be the hardest night she'll experience, considering the effects of the tainited pole should kick in."

I was relieved dena was alive, but I didn't move closer to disturb him. "Mess with our heads?" I said, much more than a little peeved. "I wouldn't call this 'messing with our heads' would you?!" I asked, indicating myself, I couldn't believe this, it was impossible, but then again, so was waking up today in a different form...

Angelina listened carefully to the old man, it was hard to believe that someone could be so twisted.

She noticed Dav - Dena stirring, this will be the hardest night for her? Man, what did that pole contain? She thought angrily, looking upon her fragile figure.

"So, what do we have to train in? And what is this 'powers in out heart' BS?" she asked rather rudely, in her desperation.

"I'm sorry, but I can't tell you much more until the time is right. Our main concern is the girl tonight, but perhaps we could have this discussion tomorrow?" he said as he looked through a cupboard, and pulled out a night gown. "Does anyone want to help her get changed? She won't be able to by herself at the moment."

"I also guess I should tell you who I am..."

"I'll help her change," Angelina said quietly, embrassed by her outburst. She took the nightgown and dressed Dena in it, being careful.

"I also guess I should tell you who I am..." the old man added.

"How are you then?" Angelina asked, It'll be a relief when he tells us, I don't want to refer to him as 'old man' anymore... It's too tireing.
