So, I haven't battled singles at all since XY release, but I figured I wanted to give it a go. One of my favorite Pokemon in general is Togekiss so I figured I would build the team completely around her. That's the one Pokemon on this team I don't want to change, I'm down for anything else though.
Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 80 SpA / 176 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave
- Air Slash
- Dazzling Gleam
- Roost
I would normally run Scarf Togekiss, but I figured that the classic ParaFlinch set would be a little bit better. EVs are to max bulk out in HP, outspeed uninvested base 70 with neutral nature, and just the rest in special attack. Serves as a good way to beat most Dragons, it seems Garchomp running Rock Slide could be a bit of a problem though.
Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
IVs: 30 SpA
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
I figured this Togekiss is weak to SR and Rock/Ice/Electric moves, Excadrill would make a pretty nice member of the team. Went with a slightly more offensive moveset along with Rapid Spin so Togekiss wouldn't have to worry about SR. Just standard EV spread on it, not sure what else you'd really want to run on Excadrill anyway.
Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Icicle Crash
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
SR setter, pretty quick and powerful, good coverage moves. Again, EVs are pretty self-explanatory.
Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder
- Earthquake
Having Excadrill and Mamoswine on the team gives me 2 Water weaknesses, so I figured something to really do well against Water types/moves would be needed. My first thought was Mega Venu. Pretty bulky and just dominates most Water types. EVs and moveset don't really seem good to me, since I really have it here as a defensive presence against Water mons. I was thinking about possibly dropping EQ for Synthesis, if that's even a thing? XD
Azumarill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Superpower
Another choice to help mitigate my Water weakness. I think Rotom-W would be a better choice here, but I wanted a physical Water attacker and Azumarill was the only one I could think of. I'm a bit iffy about AV on Azumarill, but I couldn't think of much else. Drum+Jet+Sitrus doesn't seem fun to me so I'd like to not run that, if Azumarill would be better than Rotom-W
Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psyshock
- Surf
At this point I had two special attackers and three physical, so I figured I would fully balance that out and add a special Scarfer. Latios really seemed like a good fit for the job. Powerful, decent typing, good movepool. Added HP Fire to deal with Scizor and the like.
I can't really pick much out that I feel I'm really struggling with, since i'm so low on the PS ladder atm(about 1300) and I'm still seeing pretty dumb teams. Sableye has been a pain the few times I've managed to stumble upon a team with it, burn is really annoying, and I feel like I have too many weaknesses but not enough ways to cover them.
