Not sure whether I use the "Feedback" or "Resolved" thread prefix here, so here goes:
The text:
Paste the link to the YouTube video you want to embed here. e.g. https://youtu.be/8RZqPq1-1Tw
...is what currently shows (serving as mini-instructions) when you try to edit what YouTube video should show in your profile. Some time earlier, I happened to notice that the current video in my profile wasn't displaying properly (It was doing that thing where the video lacks a timestamp, the video itself/video's background looks like a static television signal, and the text "An error occurred. Please try again later." The message, as seen in this picture, usually shows up on forums (at least for me) whenever a YouTube video is linked to incorrectly from the forum.).
Anyway, I checked to see if the video was deleted (as I haven't edited anything related to my profile video for a few months), which it wasn't. I also checked to see what the current entered text string was (the video was entered as v/uS5dS-lq9Hc, which apparently worked previously). I tried inserting the YouTube video ID parameter (in this case, uS5dS-lq9Hc) in the format "https://youtu.be/8RZqPq1-1Tw", as shown in the profile section's instructions (as seen above), but to no avail.
Finally, I decided just entering the YouTube video ID parameter itself (uS5dS-lq9Hc), as I recalled that the YouTube video embedding notation had changed here (or maybe it was on some other forum...), which finally worked.
Main point: So, essentially, this thread is mainly to bring up the issue that the instructions/formatting example that displays when a user is editing the YouTube video (if applicable) for his/her user profile need to change as they are now outdated, since apparently the embedding notation has changed on the PokeCommunity forums. For example, the video located at
now uses the new "embed code" of uS5dS-lq9Hc, as the old embed codes/formatting that were used before (v/uS5dS-lq9Hc and https://youtu.be/uS5dS-lq9Hc) no longer seem to function. This issue applies to the user profiles, although I'm not sure whether other areas of PokeCommunity need similar instructions updates about the embed codes (such as the website's FAQ, for instance?) Thanks in advance for addressing this; I hope the issue I'm referring to here was presented clearly.
EDIT: On a small side-note, is the "YouTube Video Title" section in the User Profile editor supposed to do anything? Originally, I thought it was a custom title display for whatever video is in the user profile, but I've never seen this option's effect. (And I'm currently using the option that allows one to replace his/her profile picture with a YouTube video...)
