    Hi all,

I was browsing deviantart for some overworld sprites to add to my firered romhack. After going through some pages and downloading some resources I noticed many of the trainersprites that are tagged as 3rd gen style trainers are in a format approx. 30x40 instead of the game's 16x32. Two questions:

    a) Is there a reason for these sprites to be using another format?
    b) Is there a way for me to use these sprites nonetheless by resizing/adjusting them?

    All help greatly appreciated.

Accurately the 3rd gen style ow sprites online are 32x64 (double the size of 16x32) so the best solution is download and install paint.net for PC or laptop (jus google it :p) then u gotta select image>resize>16 x 32 (maintain aspect ratio✔ and select nearest neighbor) then WALA u got ur image resized perfectly :)

P.S : if u use any other softwares like ms paint or something else it may cause color disturbances, I personally recommend paint.net coz its user friendly (and CHEAP xp )

    Glad it helped :)

Thanks for the advice. I'm trying this method out right now on some of the sprites I have found. For some the result is better than others I must say, but at least I get to use them.

If ur browsing deviant art then u must visit @aveontrainer he has the most epic redesigned and custom made ow sprites of other gens in GEN 3 STYLE ?!?!

P.s : He also has a thread in this community, check him out :)

Yes that's exactly the person I was using the sprites from! Very talented indeed.

However, I just applied your method using a sprite from Aveontrainer and the result on this one is a bit blurry. (I would include link but I'm not allowed yet it seems) There is no other option besides resizing like this I assume?

Yea it works most of the time but sometime he adds too much content that it makes the resized BMP blurry, I will wait until u can send the link and I will try to fix the blurriness :)

P.S can u say me which ow sprite did u use so I can try to fix it in the meantime :)

P.P.S Even purple zaffere does a good job :)

I'm trying to import this one. I also included the result after resizing (which looks ok, but rather blurry from close)

    @Poppinatore

Aveontrainer's sprites are formatted for RPG Maker. You need to decrease their size in half manually in paint. Alternatively, you could use this resource, which contains several of his sprites (edited) as well.

Yea even I use that but some are missing like the gym leaders of sinnoh and miscellaneous ow sprites which are not updated in that "edited" resource resizing urself is better in my opinion :)

Oh I figured since 4 sprites are on top of eachother the size I needed to get to was 4x32 = 128 for the y-axis. But I guess the white space was not fully included as for the x coordinate it does fit perfectly. Thanks again for clarifying. Problem solved 👍.
