Holy Eevee...I had never thought of that.
I'm going to have to go catch some Magnemites...
You only need one, and a max of two. Just depositing one is a lot less headache inducing, but use two to support the phenomenon.

Wow, so that's why there are so many Magnemites being traded over GTS! That's super cool; I should definitely try this out when I get the chance. I definitely want to expand my Join Avenue.

Why? It's not like you keep it. Who really cares about the nicknames a small minority of people give their magnemites? I don't even look at them anymore, too much effort.

Also, pretty obvious but also easy to forget, make sure you search in places like United Kingdom and Australia and for higher level magnemites (30 and stuff). There's not as many but there's still a few and they're generally less likely to have already been traded away. I tend to do that, and then, when I find that I'm getting the "already traded" message a few too many times, I just sit back and occasionally check the one I deposited/replace it.

I saw that too, but i was finding a cool named one to lv. up so i can get to Join avenue quicker, My first playthrough i changed the time to get Braviary, so i couldn't use join avenue. I traded my pokes and started again.

Just thought of something, the magnemite must be really confused, i wouldn't be surprized to see dead magnemites everywhere from suicide

Lol, bulbapedia updated Magnemite's trivia section:

Magnemite is currently the most traded Pokémon on the GTS. This is probably due to what is known as the Magnemite chain; a scheme by which players can increase the number of visitors to their Join Avenue in Black 2 and White 2 by trading Magnemite on the GTS. The scheme originated with Japanese players and has spread around the globe.

This just in! I just got traded a Magnemite with the Pokerus! Its nickname is "KANYE WEST", so if you get this Magnemite, be sure to spread that Pokerus as fast as you can, then trade it back to everyone else. I just spread it amongst my team, and gave it to an Azurill that I quickly boxed, and I'm putting it back up on the GTS right now.

If you've never gotten the Pokerus before, now's your chance to catch the fever! ^__^

[EDIT] Oh jeez, I just found another one! Hahahaha, wow! So yeah, the moral of the story is to check your Magnemite if you really want the Pokerus!
