It was kinda like pairs yes! Well, for a while it was just the Cool Thing so everyone just aquired family for no reason but usually it was just ya crew. Pairing was much more limited before too like there was hardly anybody with more than one pair. So family was your extended circle of love.

I still have my little sister. My pair fell inactive soon after we got paired. I never did much of the family thing, I did think it was a bit silly
