I'm pretty sure it has something to do with being all rude and evil to his Pokemon, which is similar to Ash.

Nope. No way. The storyline and the writers will make it so that they won't so um, there. O.o
And it's not like they've actually shown feelings for each other throughout their journey.

Well the writers have been realllly unexpected as of late. Bringing back Gary, having Hikari catch Buizel, etc. It might change..xD Though MIGHT.

That is true... it has seemed to be quite different for D/P, one of the reasons why people like it better, but some things just I dunno... won't?

It is indeed from the Hippo episode. Ash and Pikachu were hit by Hippopatas' yawn and they fell asleep. :3
