PGL: 2014 April Friendly

How long did it take everyone to download their Digital IDs? I still cant download it

It took like 5 seconds or so for mine to download.

The first day at the April Friendly went alright. 16 wins and 4 losses. I was one of the unfortunate people to have run into a Klefki. It paralyzed Mega Khan and Xerneas, but I was able to fight back and beat the opponent in a reversal finish.

Here's my team for the April Friendly (from the Team Help thread I posted):

Kangaskhan:
[PokeCommunity.com] PGL: 2014 April Friendly

-Return
-Power-Up Punch
-Sucker Punch
-Earthquake
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Item: Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy

I'm sure everyone knows what Mega Khan does. It wall breaks and pulls off sweeps with the Power-Up Punch/Parental Bond combo.

Xerneas:

-Moonblast
-Thunderbolt
-Focus Blast
-Megahorn
Nature: Naive
EVs: 76 Atk/180 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Choice Scarf

Geomancy Xerneas is pretty much an all-or-nothing Pokemon, so I went another route and made it a Choice Scarf revenge killer. Note: this is the same Xerneas I used in my in-game team.

Talonflame:
[PokeCommunity.com] PGL: 2014 April Friendly

-Swords Dance
-Flare Blitz
-Brave Bird
-Roost
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 48 HP/252 Atk/208 Spe
Item: Sky Plate
Ability: Gale Wings

The other revenge killer of the team; nothing to say here.

[PokeCommunity.com] PGL: 2014 April Friendly

-Dragon Dance
-Waterfall
-Earthquake
-Ice Fang
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
Item: Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate

When there are any battles I feel that Kangaskhan won't do well against, I use Gyarados instead. I also like its flexibility, since I can delay Mega Evolving to make use of Gyarados' Flying resistances while I set up Dragon Dance.

Goodra:
[PokeCommunity.com] PGL: 2014 April Friendly

-Dragon Pulse
-Fire Blast
-Thunderbolt
-Earthquake
Nature: Quiet
EVs: 252 HP/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Item: Assault Vest
Ability: Gooey

This Goodra is meant to tank any non-Psyshock/Psystrike Special attacks thrown around, but I haven't really gotten much use out of it.

Ferrothorn:
[PokeCommunity.com] PGL: 2014 April Friendly

-Stealth Rock
-Leech Seed
-Gyro Ball
-Power Whip
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP/48 Def/208 SDef
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs

Yes, I'm aware that Stealth Rock isn't as effective in 3v3 formats, but I really like the extra chip damage that it does on switch-ins. Weakening Charizard and Talonflame severely is also a big plus.

Maybe Pokemon doesnt want me to play this friendly for whatever reason and doesnt have the gull to tell me why

It might just be your wifi. :/

In other news: I ended with 18/7 (I don't have time to do all 60 games). I'd say a 72% win rate isn't that bad for my first real venture into XY Singles. I totally should have brought Yveltal over MewtwoY to deal with Aegislash better, as that was the only thing that gave my team much trouble.

What division are you guys all in, by the way?

I finally got in it. No one told me you had to go thru battle spot. Right now I am doing 13-12 thru 25

XD; What were you trying to do before?? And good luck! ;p

Now that you have mentioned it, it is actually said in the regulations.

Download Your Digital Player ID!

From within the game, tap the PSS Menu button at the top of the Player Search System screen to open the PSS menu. Select "Battle Spot." (If asked to connect to the Internet, answer "Yes.") Select "Online Competition," then "Participate," and the Digital Player ID download will begin.
Nevermind.

We continue our 15/5 win-loss ratio which is pretty substandard, but these times mostly because we did not bring our Mawile for opposing Xerneas'. Rule of thumb: The Average Joe is not intimidated by the presence of Xerneas counters - always count on them bringing their Xerneas in.
Screens Hyper Offense is shockingly underrepresented. So far the only ones we have seen using some kind of Screens was us (in Juniors). If we have known that beforehand we would have used Fire Fang instead of Brick Break on Mawile in order to deal with Ferrothorn better. In a fit of irony, one of our losses was because of a Fire Fang Mawile - on our Mawile, no less. Also, he brought a Ferrothorn alongside with his Mawile.

The second day of the Friendly didn't go well for me. I lost more battles than I did yesterday, either because of hax or because I was too cautious. A haxy battle in particular was a battle against Ferrothorn and Mega Aerodactyl. After I forced out a Talonflame at half-health, I set up Stealth Rock to discourage it from coming back in. Leech Seed missed, then Ferrothorn got frozen by Mega Aero's Ice Fang for the rest of the match.

Right now, my win-loss ratio is at 27-13.

We wish we would have been able to participate in the last day of the tournament. We are currently stuck below 1750 and we really wish we would be able to break 1800. That happens when they make people play outside of the weekend.

I ended my friendly yesterday. I think I was 24-23. Which would be the first time I was above .500 in any thing of this nature
