Pikachu's color also nabs people's attention. It would be pretty weird to see a little boy wandering around with a clefairy.

But yeah, if Clefairy was the mascot of Pokemon instead of Pikachu, the franchise defiantly would have a different feel. :o

One thing that nobody has mentioned is that if Clefairy was the mascot and Ash's starter, Clefairy would be in Super Smash Bros. Just thought I'd thow that out there.

i prefer Pichu, its much cuter. as for clefairy, i think it would have made a much better mascot
