Pikachu's a REALLY good friend of mine....

I'm not sure if its been mentioned, but theres actually a book in the Canalave library that suggests that there were humans married to pokemon in the distant past.

For a minute there I forgot that Canalave was a town in the Pokémon game! xD I don't think Pokemon and humans would ever be married though, because they're more like pets than anything, really.

i do not think pokemon and humans would have a relationship higher then friendship as even at the start a pokemon game (cant remember which) it says that humans treat them like pets or use them to fight

Taboo but I'd expect it to be legal.

Per example: Beastality was legal in Washington until the Mr Hands incident.

HAHAHAHHA no way!!!!!!!!11

that's funny

umm.... yeah it's a little messed up i think.
*tip*
never google Pokemon with "safe search" off.
ever

I didn't know what that was until I visited wikipedia. *shudders* what a nasty way to go.

I can see why it would be taboo, though, due to the physical dangers that could arise when the relationship became physical.

I would put it more bluntly, but this thread amazingly hasn't been locked and I'd like to keep it that way :D

I reckon in the Pokémon world it'd be illegal. Are we able to engage in relationships with dogs or cats? No. I reckon the government in the Pokémon world would see things the same way.

Yeah, and I don't see why...it's reasonable question...
Couldn't we just give this topic a rating?

It's mainly because some members of the community are incredibly immature and refuse to accept that other people possess opinions and views that may differ with their own.

But we've already seen that this argument is flawed. Pokemon are clearly more intelligent than cats and dogs, so surely the legalities would be different.

lol fchan discussion.

I can imagine that the Pokemon world treats Pokemon as intellectual equals who aren't capable of voicing their opinion, and as such, there will be measures in place to protect against Pokemon abuse [and you know exactly what kind of abuseI'm talking about]. However, I don't think that there'd be too much of a ruckus if the romantic/sexual relationship was with a Humanoid Pokemon (not necessarily the Humanshape egg group). People may not talk about it much, but they'll accept it's there.

If the same type of relationship was with a non-humanoid Pokemon, then yes, I can imagine that the neighbors wouldn't be very happy, but I doubt there'd be legal issues unless the Pokemon was being abused.

And for all you people BAAWWWWing over "what people do to Ditto", just remember that Duplica's Ditto could turn into a human. What do you think she did when she got all ronery living by herself?

Gosh, Slowpoke is such an intelligent Pokémon! If you look at the games, Pokémon mate with each other, not their trainers. And if they were so intelligent (take Alakazam's IQ of 5000) why do they allow themselves to end up confined within a Poké Ball and slaves to their trainer?

That's kinda a different question. And while slowpoke might be slow, its not unintelligent, per se. When its been seen in the anime, it was still able to comprehend human speech, just like other pokemon.

Some chimps understand sign language yet we're not engaging in relationships with them?

When I looked at the thread title, I suddenly felt the urge to post this...

Okay, let's legalize humans engaging in relationships with monkeys, chimps, dolphins, and parrots! ^_^ Let's legalize humans engaging in relationships with other species JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE SMARTER THAN NORMAL. nyce logik

That's completely different. Those are MORE INTELLIGENT species, but they're not sentient.

And if you try to say that there are no sentient pokemon, I will kick you. There are pokemon of equal or even above human intelligence, you know...

I can see where this is going.

I think that it could be possible with certain pokemon i.e Gardevoir, Lucario, Gallade etc etc

like its been said before I think that it would bve acceptable for the humanoid pokemon to have a relationship with a human. It most likely would be less acceptable with a more different pokemon i.e geodude, goldeen, magikarp.

I dont know...:\
If we were in the Pokemon world, you'd have to understand they have different laws so it might not be illegal to have ..you know ;)...with Pokemon. However, if Pokemon existed in our world, it would be illegal as it would be seen to be morally wrong (by some) to do it with things which aren't the same species as us, as some wuld see it as going against other nature, doing it with something which was not intended to. This is my opinion so...XD

Of course it would be illegal. Moneys are "humanoid" creatures, but it's taboo to mate with them. A Lucario/Gardevoir would be even worse because they share absolutely no genes with the human race.
