HEROXD: You are suospe to get the point on the cordinate plane where those two lines intersect, allow me to show you

HEROXD:
4x+8y=-48
-5x-2y=10

first, we need to determine what varible we want to elimante, let's elimate the y's so i'm going to mutiply the whole bottom equation by four.

4x+8y=-48
4(-5x-2y=10)

which will then give me this as the new system of equations:
4x+8y=-48
-20x-8y=40

Then, we add those two problems together, then we get:
-16x=-8
x=1/2

HEROXD: However, that's just 90% of the problem, now we have to plug in what we got for x, and solve for y. I'll be using one of the oringal equations:
4x+8y=-48

HEROXD: we plug in 1/2 for the x: 4(1/2)+8y=-48
we get: 2+8y=-48. now it's a simple algerba problem. we subtract 2 from both sides and get:
8y=-50. then you divide by 8 and get y=-25/4.

HEROXD: so the anwser to this problem is: (1/2,-25/4)

HEROXD: Confusing isn't it? You'll need to know this stuff in high school...espically your Junior year.
