    SImple question: which is better?

    Pixar Animation is famous for:
    Toy Story
    Wall-E
    Monsters Inc.
    Finding Nemo
    etc

    Dreakworks Animation is famous for:
    Shrek
    Kung Fu Panda
    Madagascar
    Shark Tale
    etc

    Which is better?

I gotta go with Pixar on this. The storys they come up with and the way it's all done is nothing short of pure genius. Everything I have seen by them...EVERYTHING...has made me laugh. Dreakworks may be funny, but it's nothing compared to Pixar. Plus Pixar's short films are always to die for.

Pixar imo. Dreamworks does some good movies indeed, but Pixar's animating style looks better. I've never really liked Dreamworks' "lively" style, as seen in Madagascar or Shark Tale. Finding Nemo and A Bug's Life makes me love Pixar :3 Though Dreamworks do have Shrek 2, and that's the crown jewel.

    Still, Pixar win.

    Dreamworks makes the best movies.

But Pixar, regardless of animation, has recently made some so trite and bad (Cars, Incredibles etc.), the bankruptcy of them during the recession would not affect the world at all.

Oh Pixar, no doubt. Toy Story was probably the first thing I remember ever being obsessed with.

I'm honestly not a big fan of Dreamworks. I'll see their movies but I don't really... look forward to them. :/ I love Pixar though. Their style of animation is so clean and good looking and their stories and final product are always just top-knotch. Even their worst stuff is better than a lot of studios' best.

Bolt is just Disney, not Pixar.

:( I know Cars sucked but what was wrong with Ratatouille? It's one of my favourite movies.

I feel Pixar is better because they were founded by Steve Jobs seem to always have a unique idea for a movie and I never have seen a bad Pixar movie. However Dreamworks some of their movies get annoying and I just don't like some of them. And Cars at first I thought looked bad but after I watched it I ended up liking it. To be honest my least favorite Pixar film was a Bug's life because I just never was a fan of it. Favorite of all time is probably a three way tie between Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Toy Story 2.

So All in all Pixar wins.

I liked the first Shrek but after that it sucked; My favorites are The Incredibles , the original Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. to name a few. Can't wait to see UP this spring!

Pixar just makes better quality movies than Dreamworks, both visually and in a storytelling sense. Literally every movie Pixar has made I've loved, and I consider myself to be a very tough critic. Dreamworks tends to make things that are aimed at children, while Pixar movies have many layers and are entertaining to just about everyone. Wall-E in my opinion was Pixar's best movie yet. My favorite movie by Dreamworks would have to be the original Shrek.

Erm.. Ratatouille? No I never said anything about that one! :nervous: *edits post*. Small stereotypes don't hurt, I guess.

Also, from Dreamworks, I think Shrek is their best production. It actually has a good mixture of comedy and story.

Shrek 4 and Toy Story 3 is coming up next year. Toy Story is just no. TS2 killed it all from the original.

    Pixar.
There movies are great with the work and the story. ^_^
The only movie I really enjoyed from Dreamworks would have to be Madagascar 2.
Now that movie was very funny, but still overall.

I still enjoy most movies from Pixar like Toy Story.

i have to go with pixar. because everything they do is original...and to me dreamworks seems to copy the popularity of pixar films...i mean, finding nemo comes out, then a year later, a sharks tale

I have to say Pixar. All my favorite child films were by them :3

Pixar, just because loads of my favourite films as a child were by them :) Toy Story, Bugs Life and Monsters Inc :D Dreamworks films can be great, but sometimes they're a little over the top...

I like Pixar. They're actual film makers, they just happen to use a different medium to tell their stories.

Dreamworks came out of a byproduct of Disney decade. The celebrity lineups found in Aladdin and The Lion King were a hit with audiences and that's what Katzenberg seems to want in every Dreamworks animated film since leaving Disney and forming DreamWorks. Every film is about being trendy and full of pop-culture references.

Pixar's films are thoughtful, heartwarming, and timeless. DreamWorks films might having a higher laugh factor on their first-viewing but they lose their luster with repeated viewings - the original Shrek being the exception. Pixar's films age well and get better every time you watch them.

I like everything that's come out of Pixar studios except for Cars. Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, Wall-E, The Incredibles....all brilliant.

From DreamWorks I've only liked The Prince of Egypt, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and Shrek. One is traditional animation, one is stop-motion animation and really a product of the genius Nick Park not DreamWorks, and Shrek. Shrek was awesome. The second was okay. The third was dreadful. I love the Christmas special. XD

But Antz, Shark Tale, Madagascar, Shrek the Third, and Bee Movie are all rubbish.

If you like well thought out, well made, intelligent, well animated, original, and thoughtful movies - then you'll like Pixar's crop. If you like pop-culture references and scenes that are purely there only because they bought the rights to a song and they want to use it somehow, then DreamWorks is for you.

But Pixar, regardless of animation, has recently made some so trite and bad (Cars, Incredibles etc.)
The Incredibles is one of their best films, imo.

Pixar are the better animators for me.
They've had consistently better films - bar Shrek which is a winner all 'round - and the films themselves are very moral, but portray that moral in a lovely way.
Plus I cried at Wall-E but let's not go into that.

I'll say Pixar like everyone else.I absolutely adore all of their movies. Yes, even Cars I liked (actually, I wasn't so big on the Incredibles, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless)

Both Toy Stories were something that I absolutely adore, even though I prefer the first.

Monster's Inc. was quite cute. It wasn't their best, but it was highly enjoyable.

Finding Nemo has to be one of my favourites. It's not only something for little children to enjoy, it's a brilliant movie with a very enjoyable plot and theme.

The Incredibles wasn't great, but it was enjoyable.Cars was great. Not the best, but I liked it.

One of my favourite movies was Ratattoue (or however it's spelled). That was pure genius. I loved every minute of it, brilliant for both children audiences and more mature people. When I first saw the commercials for it, I thought they were going to just make a rat movie because Washed Away was made around that time. Wow, I was wrong about that.

I haven't seen Wall-E but I am dying to see it.

On the other hand, I find Dreamworks to be rather lacking. It always seems that they could have done something a little more, a little different, a little better. I haven't seen all their movies, but to be honest, not even Shrek was that great.

Although I would like to know if Kung Fu Panda was any good. I'm a little interested in seeing that one. All the others... bleah.

    Better Pixar list

    Toy Story
    A Bugs Life
    Toy Story II
    Monsters Inc.
    Finding Nemo
    Cars
    Wall E
    Ratatouille
And other movies that are spi offs from these. Pixar is better.
