4th Gen Platinum Won't Save

I recently bought a used platinum game from a game store and it will not save. Did i get sold a fake version! Is there anyway to tell if its fake/ fix this?

It's a little more difficult to tell with DS games. Do you think you could post a picture of the cartridge, and maybe some screenshots? Perhaps screenshots of things in the game that you find odd, maybe? It's hard to tell when all you say is that it won't save. There could be other factors. I've heard cases of DS games getting run through the washer and drier by accident and not really being able to carry a save after that. Which, if that's the case, is why the previous owner sold it to GameStop most likely, lol.

God I'm such a chump. I just had a closer inspection of the cartridge and it appears that the top is sticky taped together :( I think I've been had..

I would definitely go back to that store for a refund. Stores like that should check for that stuff. The local used game shop here always checks, especially for Pokemon games with those internal batteries and such in the older games. It might also be wise, if you ever make further purchases from there or any other used game, to ask if you can play the game for a few minutes, and make sure it is able to save and such.
