Should I have any concern about playing for too long? I have almost 200 hours on my game, and I feel that it could be considered bad... I know it's summer and I'm playing more than ever, I just feel like I've been playing too much... I realize I'm actually training up my Pokemon and all, but I feel like I'm... addicted to the game... though I can go a long time without playing, I just feel like... 200 hours good god I've never gotten that many on a game before.

You're a nerd. Live with it. You're in good company here. ;D

    Amen to that.

I've only been playing Diamond for just over forty hours now, but when you factor in Blue, Yellow, Silver, Fire Red and Emerald as well I've spent far too much of my time on these games!

Add to that the fact that I'm currently playing through Ranger just to get Manaphy (like I had Stadium purely to get a surfing Pikachu)

Pokemon is an obsession all right.

200 hours is nothing for people who play other RPGs. Especially MMOs, that's when the bigger playtimes get really bad. At least with Pokémon, your hours are somewhat well-spent on a portable gaming device instead of in front of a PC in a dark room at 4AM while eating Cheetos. (not knocking those who play MMOs, I'm actually speaking from experience) x_x

Yeah, that's true, I'm not like that XD I can atleast turn off the system and call it a day. I suppose this thread can be closed now, I just wanted to know if I needed to be concerned about anything... I guess I should be glad I'm not wasiting my life on World of Warcraft... or something like that right? XD

The only thing you should be really concerned about is your health. You might want to consider breaks if you're playing hours at a time and your hands/eyes are starting to get sore and you're not moving around. Stretch, rest your hands and eyes, just take a short break. It'll probably do you some good.

Other than that, it's not really that bad, as long as Pokémon isn't the only thing you do. If you're still living life (ie: doing good in school, getting social every once in awhile, eating, sleeping, ect), then why not spend spare time on Pokémon? :/

EDIT: You sure you want the thread closed? :/

Last post before closure, if he requests it to really be closed:

Pokemon isn't an obsession. And guess what, I have 327:23 total in my Perl. That's nothing, compared to the other RPGs I play. If you're really addicted, then there must be something about the game that addicted you. Nothing really addicted me, I just kept playing and playing until I completed the National Pokedex. Now I just need to complete my Sinnoh.

Well, I do take breaks and Pokemon isn't my life... I have a girlfriend but her and her family are on vacation at the moment, so I can't spend time with her, on the other hand my dad is here to visit for the week... I also find other things to do usually. It's just usually too hot to go outside most of the time.

Technically the only reason I'm playing Pokemon so much is probably because I enjoy doing it, I like to raise up my Pokemon and I've tried chaining... I think some of the hours are from me just randomly typing long messages like this while the DS is open on my lap >.> and sometimes I get distracted and forget to turn it off, I mean I haven't really been addicted to it, I just feel insane that it's been 200 hours after a month and a few days of having the game... but I love Pokemon so I don't see why it'd be a bad thing.

I leave my ds on all time time and it's only at 79 hours right now... although my brothers game is at 110 hours and I used that for a ton to trade earlier on these fourms now I just use my game now that it's better then his >.> so your not that bad off

*note* I only spent about 10 hours out of the 110 on my brothers lol

...It's just usually too hot to go outside most of the time....

When then it's Global Warming's fault that you play too much. :P Some people argue that it's not good to play that long but I disagree. I believe that as long as your happy, healthy, and not completely obessed with a game, then it's fine.

Lol I got a question... What do you do all those hours? After you beat the game, catch the legendary pokemon... Theres nothing else to do really...

Well actually, you could battle online and trade, butn ot for me. -.-

    happy- kind of
    healthy- absoulutly not
    not obsessed- uh oh

I have play to much of pokemonofobia.. if thats actually something ... by the way that was just a joke

Faltzer, its good to know I'm not alone, with my 317:43 hours. (High five to all people in the 300 hours range.)

I have 105 hours. I don't think it's a big deal because, well, I make room for other thigs. I spend a lot of time swimming and playing other games. I know I'm obsessed with Pokemon, and that's not something to be ashamed of. I'm not hurting anyone by playing it, that includes myself. It's summer. We're supposed to devote time to what we WANT to devote it to. If Pokemon is that, no big deal.

Breeding for natures, IVs and egg moves. EV training. Assembling movesets. That all takes a hell of a long time. And that doesn't include completing the national dex and actually battling online with your troupe of EV trained fighters.

Amen Legacy, Amen. I think that post sums up all my time as of late XD.

Gah, I have 200+ hours too, and have yet to have my first competitive battle. Everytime I finish raising a Pokémon for Wi-Fi battling, I decide to get a different one and start raising it. I'm wondering if I'll ever be satisfied enough to actually put their training to an actual use, but on the plus side, I'll have a lot of room for switching them around whenever I do start battling. x_x

anyone close to 400 hrs? im in my late 300's...chaining pokemon is just too much fun to put down especially with shiny hunting and all...(just checked i have 381:54 hours played)

I have 200+ hours as well with a Silver training card (I only played capture the flag, got all 493 Pokemon and only did one Master rank contest). I would of had a Gold if the contest weren't so hard
