PMD: Exploration and Corruption of the New Frontier (IC)(PG-13)

Blinking a little, the energy gone in that one little burst of excitement, he now semed a little,,,unstable. He grinned a little bit and said much louder, and MUCH slower..."MY. NAME. IS. FLARE. I. THINK. I'M. ON. YOUR. TEAM." he said loudly to the Vulpix, completely oblivious to the fact the poor thing was Deaf.

(actually i was thinking of the tepig for kicks. also i thought you were talking out loud to yourself earlier)

Zeke stumbled upon a group with two fire types. He towered over the pokemon which he felt was really odd. he looked back and forth between a vulpix and a tepig.

"I need a fire anyone who can help here. Perhaps you my smallish fire type friend" zeke pointed to the tepig with his scythe.

"i need a good small cooking fire so if you could just please lite it back at my tent. thada be great" Zeke babbled losing the ability to speak english.

OOC: Wow slow down everyone lol. I'm actually kinda happy inside that this RP has gotten the interest, liking, and start that it has right now. And I have you all to thank for that. So as a token of my thankfulness.....have a cookie. Happy day. I updated rules in the OOC, and would appreciate it if you read them. Thanks. Now, as I wait for my partner to post...

IC

Layne walked through the town, and came to a medical station. "This might be a good place to possibly locate Pyro." Layne thought to himself. He entered, and a Chansey greeted him, which wasn't much surprise to Layne. Chansey were the best pokemon he knew of who could provide for injured pokemon in certain areas. Sure others could do good jobs themselves, but.....well maybe there was no but.
"May I help you? the chansey asked.
"Yes, I'm looking for a Charmander, who goes by the name of Pyro. I was informed that he came here after being exposed."
"Oh yes, you want the second floor, bed 12."
"Thanks."

Layne went up the set of stairs, of the two story building. The chance was that they'd need to add another floor before too long because he could only imagine how many other pokemon were getting injured or exposed. Layne shook away that thought and stood in front of Bed 12. Pyro was not looking well at all. Layne sighed as he looked down at his old friend, and just thought to himself "You poor devil..."

Layne took a seat next to the bed. Pyro stirred and looked over. His eyes were a little glazed, but still showed some sign of life, which relieved Layne. Pyro's hide in areas also looked bruised and blackened. His flaming tail, which stuck out away from the easily flammable sheets, was dim. Layne hadn't seen it at that dim point in a long time.

Layne, upon seeing Pyro look at him, offered a small smile, and grabbed Pyro's hand. "You're a tough nut to crack, you know that?"
Pyro chuckled, and managed to say in a rusty voice, "Hey, Layne."
Layne looked Pyro over, "You look like hell. What happened?"
Pyro's eyes went to the floor, almost as if in disappointment. "We were traveling through the woods. Heading North towards the mountain. We and a few other teams had found small clues which all pointed to the mountains. And we came across a group of renegades."
"Dark pokemon?"
Pyro nodded. "I don't remember much. All I know is that my scarf was shredded, and I got exposed. I don't remember much after that."
"They told me you managed to walk all the way back here. You have a strong heart Pyro, after being exposed that long, you have a strong heart, and a strong will if I ever saw one. It must have taken a lot out of you to fight it like that."
"They told me I walked here...This was in my hand....." He dropped a small necklace onto the bed. Layne recognized it immediately as Autumn's mother's necklace. Layne had risked his life getting it at one point in time, and now Pyro had it. But where was Autumn? The necklace was her belonging that repelled the aura. Which meant...Autumn, if she wasn't here, could still be out there, and she had been exposed for a long time.
"Pyro....where...." Layne couldn't finish.
"I'm so sorry Layne. I don't know where she is."
Layne fought back a few tears. His fist clenched around the small necklace. Layne had one more reason to stay here. He had to find Autumn. It appeared that if the exposed pokemon, like Pyro was in a place, clear of the strange aura, the effects would wear off over time. Layne would find Autumn, even if it meant he would almost kill himself in the act again.
"Pyro, I'm going to find her. You get some rest. You've done more than enough, my friend. You deserve a very ong rest for your journey home...and that's not negotiable."
"Hmm...." Pyro said.
Layne chuckled and patted his partner's head. "Things will be fine. Remember, this isn't the first time the planet's gone to hell on a silver platter."

Bubbles floated up from the lake. Pop. Pop. Pop. The bubbles popped as they reached the surface. More bubbles began to form, and then suddenly a Sneasel with a torn feather was thrown out of the lake. She hit the ground with a thud. "OW. I was just having fun with ya!" she shouted to an angry Bibarel, her face buried in the mud. "You need a good laugh, grandpa," she said as she slowly got to her feet and noticed a Pupitar with some apples. "Go take a hike!" yelled the Bibarel, and he swam back underwater. The Sneasel straightened up and dashed over to the Pupitar. "Hello sir, I am Alaska, and I am in your team!" she said happily, holding out her paw. Alaska realized he didn't have arms and she put her's back down. "Umm… I had a paper with the team name somewhere…" she said, looking around as if the paper would appear out of thin air.

"Hello sir, I am Alaska, and I am in your team!"

"Hello, I'm Xell. Nice to meet you." The Sneasel outstretched her hand. Xell was again reminded of the fact that he hated this new form that came with evolution. It angered the Pupitar. If he were a Larvitar, he could have shook her hand. He pushed the thought aside and watched as the Sneasel recoiled her paw, embarrassed. "Don't be embarrassed, you're making a better impression on me then our leader. You may have seen him already. He's a Scyther by the name of Zeke."

"Umm... I had a paper with the team name somewhere..."

"Don't worry about it. We're Team Hunter." Xell ejected an Apple from a part of his body unseen, and nudged it toward the Sneasel. "Here's an Apple, but keep it away from Zeke. He's kind of wild." Xell sighed. What were they going to do about Zeke? Hopefully the newcomer was a little more calmer then the Scyther leader. Xell could tell she was mischievous. It was shown both through her naughty smile and the argument with the angry Bibarel, a resident of Lakeside. Xell hoped it was a more subtle type of mischievous rather then the wild, in-your-face type. Either way, Xell was glad to see a new face. Xell began to imagine them as a famous rescue team.

Teddius yawned and blinked open his eyes. He rubbed them with weariness and popped out of the makeshift den he had created the past few weeks. He gathered everything inside the den into his pouch and had a short swift breakfast consisting of Pecha and Sitrus berries and a jar of honey. As he sucked the remaining honey on his left paw, he slowly approached the group of Pokemon outside. He had received notification from the postman Pelipper that he was assigned into a Team Helium-there or something or that sort. What a hassling name to remember?! Now...who was my leader? He vaguely recalled that he was with a Spoink....or was it a Weedle? Oh not those stinging bugs. Oh he knew now, it was a Budew, wait no, a Hoppip! Was it a Spoink, Weedle, Budew or a Hoppip? Teddius wished that he paid more attention when the Pelipper read out the guild's letter. He sighed and found a smooth ledge to sit on. A Pupitar nearby had a pile of apples. I feel....so hungry. Even though, I'd just eaten. Should I eat some of those apples? He sighed and went off on his way to look for his team leader, whoever that might be.

Any normal person would be just a little bemused at the point in which the group had been sent to link up. It was little more than a few tents surrounding a simple lake which had been known as – rather unimaginatively – "Lakeside." Still, it was a rather nice place in all honesty, Maria could admit that. Plenty of tiny flowers dotted the ground, not to mention the trees which offered shade to those who passed by. But Maria couldn't shake the feeling that this was a little too... easy? She had never had a problem which reaching into the heights of mountains let alone this somewhat easy trek to the lake. Travel was certainly a lot easier when you simply let the wind carry you there. Of course you just had to hope it didn't change direction and send you spiralling back to the bottom. Then there was the ocean. The winds were so strong Maria would have to cling to whatever ground she could to avoid being blown away. The wind rarely died down near the ocean, so that was roughly the time when someone would have to swoop in and save her. Now however, the wind was gentle, and controllable, meaning the Maria Liliaceae could let the wind carry her there. She was a good few feet off the ground, which was just the way she liked it. Walking was so boring. Why didn't everyone just learn how to fly? Well, strictly speaking Maria wasn't flying but floating, but she would fail to see the difference. Still, the young Hoppip still had high hopes for this meeting, since it would be the time when she would actually lead an Exploration Team. Maria burst into laughter when she had heard the news. She was not leader material, and she would probably cause the team to spiral into a ball of flames. Then again, the team which Maria had been in previously consisted purely of Grass-types, so that would happen simply if a Fire-type came along. Maria would just have to try and think like her previous team-leader – a Roserade – and try to stay calm in toughs situations. Yeah right, Maria was worried that there was going to be a Thunderstorm last time a Magnezone stopped off at the Guild last year. It was a funny situation mind you.

And soon enough, Maria had made her was to Lakeside, which had already gathered with quite a few Pokemon. Maria did still wonder just how Roserade was doing now a days, though. The only reason in which the Hoppip had been moved teams was because the third member of the team was subdued by the Corruption. It was hard to imagine the Sunflora that enraged at everything, and it took more than just Maria and Roserade to take her down. They soon called in a Magcargo at the Guild to try and calm the Sunflora, but it was no use. Maria didn't know what happened to Sunflora after that, but Roserade was constantly in a bad mood since then. And soon enough, he left, leaving just Maria to handle everything by herself. And so here she is, about to form with another Pokemon to create Team Heliantheae.

The other was a Normal type of some description. A Teddiursa? Yes, that was it, the Little Bear Pokemon. Known for a natural addiction to honey. Hopefully he'd brought some along, Maria was starving. Travelling was easy. Finding enough food on those trips was another thing. She could sleep while still moving if the wind was right, and that didn't leave her with much time to try and find food. She'd just have to ignore that for now and find her other team-mate. Only one this time, contrary to the previous group containing three. Maybe that would make the feel of things more different. Maria just hoped her new ally wouldn't be completely unruly. Messing around is fun, but the mission should be top priority. Even Maria herself was surprised at how seriously she was taking this. Maybe that would help... somehow. No, she needed to calm down a little and think of things how she usually did. But of course, the first job was finding this Teddiursa. She glanced around for a few moments, her tiny golden eyes scanning the area in which many Pokemon were playing, talking or simply walking around a bit. Nothing. Was it definitely a Teddiursa she was meant to join up with? Ugh, she couldn't think on an empty stomach. Maria quickly fled the scene, moving back into the trees at a more rapid pace than what she had used to survive, still floating of course. Using her tiny, stub-like arms, she tore off a couple of Pecha berries. They would do, and it helped that they were some of her favourite.

Bursting back out of the trees, she slammed into a branch by mistake, causing her to spiral out of control. Within seconds she had tumbled to the ground, and coughed up a little dirt. She stumbled into a standing position – albeit on all four legs – and shuffled back a few steps. She had landed right at the feet of the person she was trying to find. The Teddiursa.

She held up the berries and smiled slightly. "Want one?"

Teddius was just minding his own business through the forest path and also at the same time licking his paws clean of honey and searching high and low for a Weedle, Spoink, Budew or Hoppip but so far, never had any contact with either species. Suddenly, a loud crash sounded from behind, causing him to accidentally nip on his own paw in fright and a spear of pain surged from his left fingers up to his arm then to the side of his neck.

"Oww...." He muttered as he turned around to face a Hoppip who was to him, in no position to be what a Hoppip should be. I thought they float in the air? I didn't my leader was a land lover. It merely smiled and said, offering a Pecha berry which cried for Teddius to munch, "Want one?" "Oh, why thank you! Mmmm-hmm, it's delicious. I'm Teddius, I think you're my team leader. I wasn't expecting such a surprise landing visit just for me." The Teddiursa had a silly grin on his face. He waited for her reply and just sat on the forest floor, waiting. Waiting for nothing, really.

"Glad to be acquainted Felicia" Leigh said to her. "Your rather young for a leader but I'll trust you know what your doing." He was hoping to keep the conversation going on a little longer but was interrupted by a voice in the distance. It was a Tepig, An extremely excited one at that. "Hmm... that must be the third member" Leigh thought. If he had known sooner, He would have introduced himself in a similar fashion as Felicia.

"Flare? Call me Leigh. Good to meet you" He said to him. The hyperactive tepig was a bit too loud for his taste but he then noticed that Felicia didn't hear a thing he said amazingly. Felicia simply asked Flare if he could repeat himself, resulting in a slower, much louder version of his previous words. While cringing at the volume, Leigh could tell something was up with Felicia. "um... Felicia? Flare introduced himself pretty clearly and... rather loudly..." He said with concern.

Felicia blushed embarrassed as she read the Tepig's lips as he spoke "MY. NAME. IS. FLARE. I. THINK. I'M. ON. YOUR. TEAM." is what he said. Looking as Leigh cringed when Flare repeated himself made Felicia reach the conclusion that he had repeated himself rather loudly. "um... Felicia? Flare introduced himself pretty clearly and... rather loudly..." she hear Leigh say in her head. Here was the deciding moment. "Oh..well..you see..uh..." she cut herself off to afraid they'd laugh and then leave like everyone else. She watched as a Scyther came into her line of vision where she could read his lips as he spoke to Flare "i need a good small cooking fire so if you could just please lite it back at my tent. thada be great". Hopefully that gets attention off me. she thought looking at all three of the far older and probably more experienced Pokemon and wondering why on earth a five year old Pokemon was leader of an exploration team.

"so can i get a fire or what. im trying to bake a pie for my team. so now would be nice. if you'd please come with me." zeke gestured and ran back to his tent.

he ran so fast that he accidentaly used double team. a line of clones showed the way to his tent. when he noticed what happened he laughed and the clones copied him. Zeke began dancing around for the heck of it as he watched the clones dance along.

"wow this is great." Zeke said echoed by the clones.

((OOC: DAMN TIMEZONES. 29 posts in less than a night! D:
Anyways, I'll start directly from the medical station.))

"Mr. ..." The Chansey quietly spoke, fearing to wake up anyone in the overcrowded room of beds and straw as she entered it, trailing off after noticing that the rest of the name on the sheet in her hand was struckthrough. "Goodness, who wrote this...?"

"Ssssh...!" Another Chansey in the room suddenly hushed. She seemed to be treating a Pokémon, a particularly bruised one. "Be quiet...!"

"Sorry!" The first Chansey whispered, sighing at the sheet. She scrolled down to the species and other information; luckily, these weren't completely incomprehensible. "A Shinx..."

She lifted her eyes to look for all the Shinxs in the room; and once again, she lucked out: there was only one.
With a swift pace, she carried the Oran Berry to the respective bed.
The Pokémon in question didn't seem to be like the other patients in terms of any possible illness; in fact, any bruises the Pokémon had were completely unrelated to the wave of corruption. This surprised her slightly, seeing as they were about to run out of rooms for patients and yet this kind of person appeared.

"Sir..." She called, shaking the Pokémon a bit after putting the berry in the bag on his leg. "It's morning, sir. You have been discharged. You're free to go."

The Pokémon opened his eyes slowly, blinking to adapt to the light around him before lazily yawning and looking around.

"Where am I...?" The Chansey frowned at the question.

"Sir, you are in the medical station... don't you remember?" The Shinx immediately shook his head, staring into the Chansey's eyes with a seemingly annoyed look. She sighed again and continued to read the sheet. "You came here last night, complaining about your leg, and eventually passed out in front of the counter. You also left no name."

"Passed out...?" The Shinx repeated, looking down. His mind was still foggy, but he remembered something. "That's right..." He mumbled before trying to get up; and in spite of the slight pain, he succeeded. "The Exploration team..."

And without another word, he started walking away, leaving a perplexed Chansey staring down at the straw.

"Sir! Your name!"
"Ssssssshhh!"

"Just... use Chunk." He replied, disappearing behind the wall.

----------------------------------------------

Chunk tried to gather his memories. First, he received a proposition to form a team, which was apparently named Salvadores... there were two other Pokémon in it, or at least so he thought.
Then in the middle of the night, his leg started to ache him, and before he knew it, he was running into the medical station.

He shook his head, trying to shake away the memories as well. He wa striding through the hallways, immersed in his own thoughts, bumping into whoever crossed his way before apologizing and moving on again.

So I'm in an Exploration team... He thought, dragging the bag (or the leg, he didn't quite know now) with cost. I'll need to find the other Pokémon. But all I remember was the guy being a Buizel and being called... called...

His memory started to fail him; it was as if the name was an empty void he needed to fill in with the correct word; one which didn't seem to be coming out.

Dang it... why can't I remember the name-

"Hey, Layne." He suddenly heard from his right; the simple mentioning of the name 'Layne' seemed to have awakened his mind and memory; that was it! That was the name!

Chunk carefully approached the wall that led to the room and listened in the conversation; it was an abnormaly tall Buizel and a Charmander - a severely bruised one, much worse than the others back at the common room.
The conversation went from the corrupted Pokémon to someone called Autumn. The name didn't ring a bell at all, but it seemed to be someone very important, judging form the way the guy was reacting.

But once the conversation lightened up, Chunk decided it was the time to come in.

"Layne of the Salvadores?" He called out, approaching the pair of Pokémon.

While Zeke was goofing off, he smacked his foot on a rock.

"Yow ow ow ow!" Zeke yowled.

He jumped up and down along with his clones. He groaned rolling his eyes when he saw a passing female Butterfree. He had seen her the first day he got here and had been "keeping an eye out for her." and now he and his twelve doubles were jumping around like idiots. When the Butterfree left Zeke concentrated and glowed blue. All his clones did as well. The clones merged into one Substitute. The substitute who Zeke referred to as Specter walked up to Zeke.

Specter's skin color was the exact opposite to Zeke's. Otherwise, the two were just about twins. Specter nodded to Zeke since he is unable to speak.

"Can you go look for Xell? If I get a fire going the pie will be done in no time." Zeke explained shaking his foot trying to get the blood flowing to it.

Felicia looked at her teammates. "I'll go start that fire for him" she said before chasing after the Scyther. Felicia shook her head when seeing him dancing around like an idiot. "You needed a fire started right!" she yelled running up to him as he shook his foot trying to get blood flow into it. She looked right at him so when he talked she could read his lips.

"yeah oh uh just a sec." Zeke drove one of his blades into the ground.

he made a deep circle in the dirt. he scrapped out the ground inside the circle and grabbed some wood from a pile behind his tent. he dumped it in the hole.

"there we go. if you'll start the fire i'll get the pie." Zeke turned and opened up his tent.

=====================

Specter buzzed through town in search of the one named Xell. he came across Xell talking with a dirty sneasel. he landed near them and pointed back towards Zeke's tent.

Felicia nodded "okay" she said before going to the pit. A burst of Flame came out of her mouth as she used Flame Burst to lite the wood. "There you go, what kind of pie are you making?" she said sitting down and watching him as the fire burned in the pit. The heat it generated made Felicia feel comfortable and less nervous around others.

Zeke grabbed the pie with both of his scythes (scythe \pie/ scythe like that kinda). he put it down near the fire then produced a metal grate which he placed over the pit.

"mmm. its an apple pie, but i used my mom's secret ingredient. Cindermin(cinnamon for pokemon) its de-lish-ous." Zeke said delicious in his oddly pronounced syllables.

he nudged the pie onto the grate. Zeke licked his lips whilst he gazed upon the pastry.

Upon hearing his name and the word, Salvadores, Layne looked up. He turned to see a rather beat looking Shinx. Laynes thoughts drifted immediately to what the guy could have gone through. An ambush? Rough-housing? Accident in the woods? The guy looked like he'd been to hell and back almost, but, Layne tried not to dwell on it. It wasn't in his nature to judge based on looks, no matter how tempting it was sometimes. The chances were, if the Shinx signed up for this mission in the first place, let alone formed an exploration team, he could handle his own weight.

Layne looked back at Pyro and gave him one hast squeeze in the hand. "Stay strong, Pyro. This will be over soon."

He didn't know if Pyro heard or not, as Pyro had once again drifted off into sleep, which was probably the best thing for him right now. Layne stood up, adjusting his goggles, which remained on his forehead, and walked over to the Shinx.

"If I'm guessing correct, you're the other member of the Salvadores?"

Felicia nodded remembering her own mother. "My mom used to make a great pie with Oran Berries all the time" she said staring at the fires glow wondering if her Team was gonna follow or not. What if I fail at being a leader...what if I mess up and they laugh at me..what if I get one of them infected with this corruption thing she thought laying on her stomach and resting her chin on her front paws.

"yeah i know what you mean. moms tend to make great cooks. kinda makes me miss home." Zeke sighed.

he looked to the vulpix. she was really young. maybe to young to be on a team like this. Zeke thought back to when he was younger. when he was only five his father began teaching him the skills he needed to survive in the world. Zeke may have been able to do it at age five, but could this little vulpix really become a great leader?
