"I agree with you there" Felicia said thinking of her parents. Her father died before she was three and around the same time her mother had disappeared. Felicia had for the next two years taught herself how to survive but was still worried she'd mess up big time. "I'm Felicia by the way and you are?" she asked still looking at the Scyther.
Chunk didn't show it, but inside, he noticed the guy, Layne, was observing him; basically making a description of him... the Shinx hesitated for a moment, wondering if he should take some kind of action or just let it pass.
He chose not to when the Buizel turned and grabbed the patient Charmander's hand - apparently a friend - who didn't seem to have heard him say his last words.
Chunk's line of thought was broken when Layne turned again to adjust the goggles and walk over to question him.
Dead-on. He thought.
"Yes." Chunk nodded once, lifting a paw. "Call me... Chunk."
After the introduction, Chunk's eyes drifted to the sleeping Charmander; he hesitated to question Layne about it, but he'd be stating the obvious, and stating the obvious was something he had never liked to do.
Xell squinted to where the chaos was happening. Zeke was performing all sorts of tricks, to impress a Butterfree? Or maybe that Vulpix, who looked like it was starting a fire? It was hard to know: Zeke was far too savage for Xell's taste. He had only contemplated that thought for a moment before Zeke's Double Team merged into a Substitute, who looked nothing like Zeke. The Substitute quickened and darted toward Alaska and Xell. It was gesturing for them to come back to Zeke's tent. Before they had a chance to respond, the Substitute darted away, just as quickly as it had come over. Xell rolled his eyes, and turned to Alaska.
"I guess Zeke wants us. Perhaps we should go back?"
The young Vulpix became extremely nervous for whatever reason. Leigh could understand that being a young leader around two others that are much older could be discouraging for her but still. Leigh was never a leader, and doubted his ability in being one. Before Leigh had a chance to ask her questions, she went off to help a nearby Scyther light a fire for him. "Certainly keeping a secret...an embarrassing one most likely..." Leigh thought. Leigh looked over as the Felicia and the Scyther had a small conversation with each other.
Leigh never did make much conversation with Pokemon he had met with his travels. Many Pokemon he spoke to were often victims of his own pranks or just too surprised from the words being transmitted into their minds to even realize Leigh's exsistance. He probobly knew a bit more about the land then his other teammates. He already had a good idea about Felicia, but hadn't really acquainted himself with flare yet. "Flare, Let's join Felicia around the fire. I think it would be best if we shared stories about each other." Leigh told him. "Oh and... no offense... but try to keep the volume at a minimum hmm?" He said with a sarcastic tone.
The green blob floated on over to where Felicia and the Scyther were conversing. "Sorry I took so long over there. Did I miss anything important?" He said through both of their minds.
"Sorry I took so long over there. Did I miss anything important?" Leigh's voice rang through her mind. "We were just introducing ourselves" Felicia sent back looking up at him secretly glad she hadn't yet explained why Flare needed to repeat himself. She herself was still wondering how they would react to her being deaf automatically reaching the conclusion that their reaction would be the same as all past reactions.
(ooc: probobly should have mentioned this before :p while Leigh can speak through minds, He can't read them unfortunately. Otherwise he would already know Felicia was deaf and that would be cheating XD He can still hear normal speech though and seeing that Felicia can hear what he's saying, it works out either way. I can't tell if your sending thoughts back at him or speaking normally so just wanted to get that out there.)
"Ah is that all?" Leigh replied. "Sorry if I made you feel nervous. Not alot of pokemon are used to telepathic transmissions." Leigh then moved closer to the fire. It didn't matter how hot it was or how cold it was around, he was protected by weather conditions but Leigh still wanted to look somewhat civil. He then turned to the scyther and back at Felicia. "Soooooooooo... who's your friend?" He said teasingly.
"Sorry about earlier..." FLare said to both Leigh and Felicia, as he and his new partner walked over to Felicia and the Scyther, "Just a little bit excited is all. I mean, I can't believe I'm finally on a rescue team! I'll be able to help others!" he said with another grin, a blush hidden by his orange face. Grinning a little bit and rubbing the back of his head with his hoof, he chuckled. "So...um..." HOw to keep this from getting akward...
So he walked over to the fire and plopped himself in front of it, frowning. How did everyone else know how to use a fire attack but him? What was keeping HIM from doing it? Pushing the thought from his mind, he turned to Felicia, Leigh and he Scyther, just watching the lot of them talk.
"Ah is that all? Sorry if I made you feel nervous. Not alot of pokemon are used to telepathic transmissions." Leigh sent next. Felicia smiled glad she could communicate telepathically with him. "Soooooooooo... who's your friend?" His voice sent teasingly into her mind. "No it's fine, and this is Zeke she sent back just as Flare joined them thankfully she was able to read his lips this time as he spoke "Sorry about earlier...Just a little bit excited is all. I mean, I can't believe I'm finally on a rescue team! I'll be able to help others!" he had a grin on his face as he spoke and Felicia smiled back at him. "So...um..." was what he started to say next before he stopped and it was then that Felicia decided to tell them. "Well..I have something to tell you guys" she said nervously looking at her paws as she spoke before looking back up.
"Chunk? Must be a name he gave himself." Layne thought to himself. Layne extended his own paw for a quick shake, and said, "Pleasure. And as you guessed, my name is Layne." he said with a small smile. Sometimes a small smile was all he could offer.
Layne noticed Chunk's gaze to the sleeping Pyro. Layne looked one more time at his partner, who would soon be on his way home to Treasure Town. "Pyro's spirit is not easily broken. He'll be fine. Once e gets home, he'll get even more care, and he'll be the peppy guy I know again."

((OOC) This is basically posted in various places around Lakeside)) Explorers Wanted
Guildmaster Lucario (until I find a name) is looking for Explorers who will help investigate the corruption of the Northern lands. Explorers must go to his guild, East of Lakeside for instructions.
Be wary. Silver Springs along the way has been corrupted, and is dangerous to any who drink it's water or bathe in it's shallows.
I will escort Explorer teams to the Guild twice a day. First escorts leave at 1, second leaves at 5. We meet at the Center of town a half hour before departure. Don't be late.
Leigh noticed Flare join them around the fire. He listened to him as he expressed how excited he was to be in an exploration team. The Scyther had also introduced himself as "Zeke". "Ah. Call my Leigh." He said looking down at the plate. "Um... heh... Sorry I don't know if I would be able to eat that. I'm a tad small for such a large slice. I tend to survive naturally." Flare gave off a frown as he sat near the fire though. He was suprised considering how cheerful Flare was earlier. "I kind of figured fire types would feel good around fire. Something on your mind?" he asked Flare concernedly. Leigh was known for having a history of immature mischievous acts back then, but he still tends to be reasonable towards his friends. At the same time, Felicia was about to tell both of them something important. "Hmm? Whats up?" Leigh replied.
Felicia looked down at the slice of pie in front of her and then looked back up. "Well..you see...the reason I needed Flare to repeat himself was...I..I'm...d..deaf" she said shaking she was so nervous of their reactions and prepared herself for the worst.
He cringed after realizing he had been staring fixedly at Pyro, but didn't say anything after Layne's last words; as Chunk had guessed, they were friends - good friends.
"So the two of us..." He said, walking towards the stairs again. "We're the only ones in Salvadores?"
The reason he in a team at all boggled him. Why couldn't he remember signing the tiniest piece of paper, and yet remembered the crew's name?
"We're here to fight corruption..." He suddenly thought out loud. "But I haven't the slightest idea of where we should even start."
It vexed him to say that in the quality of team leader; but it was true.
Leigh was shocked by Felicia words but was also suprised. For a deaf pokemon, She could speak very well. Leigh also was talking to her telepathically so obviously she heard that... Leigh really didn't mind this though. She may be deaf but if she can still manage with communication, then She's bound to be a great leader. "...Is that it? Aw comon it's not that bad. You seem to be managing fairly well. He said trying to pull off a smile with his odd mouth. "I must say I'm impressed. Your very good at speaking for a deaf pokemon... How do you do it?"
"I must say I'm impressed. Your very good at speaking for a deaf pokemon... How do you do it?" Leigh sent her and Felicia let out the breath she was holding when he replied she was still nervous about Flare's reply but responded to Leigh while watching Flare. "My dad taught me how to read lips before he died, while mom taught me to talk before..." she cut herself off remembering the day her mother disappeared.
Well THAT explaned it. "You're deaf?" Flare asked, tilting his head to the side, forgetting about the pie in front of him. "That's...huh. I didn't see that coming...but yeah, like Leigh said, it's not THAT bad..."
Leigh paused for a second as Felica finished explaining. "Reading lips... that surely takes quite a bit of skill. Must have been quite the teacher... sorry to hear that." He paused again. He started to think about his own folks. He wasn't even sure if he had any to begin with and didn't want to even begin to imagine what his parents may have been. The nature of it would be... complicated. He decided not to mention it to the others since it wasn't important. "Most deaf pokemon would probobly stutter and mess up with their words. But you sound like you can hear every word coming out of our... er... their mouths."
Leigh stopped floating and relaxed on the ground. A bit of dirt ended up getting into his protective green gel but he could easily clean it. "Don't worry about it too much. Though... I guess you'll have trouble hearing pokemon who don't have lips won't you?" He told her.
"Don't worry about it too much. Though... I guess you'll have trouble hearing pokemon who don't have lips won't you?" Leigh sent as Felicia smiled that hadn't gone as bad as she thought it would. "Yeah I would...you don't know how much it means to not be discriminated against because of this" she said looking at them.
