PMD: Exploration and Corruption of the New Frontier (IC)(PG-13)

Leigh rushed over and used Psyshock on the drooling Carnivine. "One against three? Thats real fair..." Leigh muttered out loud. His corrupt substance bubbled, reacting to the corrupted Carnivine. Alaska looked at Leigh as he whispered, "So... any ideas on how to deal with these things?" Alaska was about to reply, until one of the Carnivine gripped Leigh with Vine Whip and repeatedly slammed him against one of the almost dead trees.

Alaska gasped and ran toward the Carnivine that held Leigh. "Gah..Oof!" Leigh yelled out in pain as he was being smashed into the tree. He attempted to use Psycho Shock, but had trouble aiming. Alaska used Aerial Ace on the Carnivine, making it shrink back and cry in pain. "I guess all we can do is attack as much as we can!" Alaska called out, using Metal Claw on the vine to free Leigh. The other two Carnivine wrapped Vine Whip on each of Alaska's arms to prevent her from attacking with her arms. She struggled and struggled, but then smiled. "You guys should try different moves," Alaska said. She ran around them in a circle, tying them up with their own whips.

Alaska saw a Zangoose with strange markings, and he was talking to Retus and Felicia. She wondered who he was, and then his claws glowed a bright blue. It must've been an enemy. Alaska tightened the whip around the three Carnivine and tossed a Shadow Ball, making it release her. "What should we do to them, Leigh?" she asked, glaring at them. They glared back angrily. One of the Carnivine opened its mouth wide and roared into Alaska's face. "HELP ME JANICE!" she exclaimed, running and hiding behind a tree. She peeked from behind the tree at the Carnivine again, and her eyes wandered back to Retus, Felicia, and the Zangoose.

With Speed that his kind was known for, the Zangoose spun around towards Retus' attack and lifted his claws, blocking the attack by swiping his claws at it. With a frown, his fur sindered and smoking a little bit. "Corrupt, hm?" he asked, as if he wasn't struck by an attack that normally would have knockd out a Pokemon, if not worse. "I was worried this would be boring." he grinned a grin that made Flair off in the background shudder in fright.

The Zangoose lifted his claws and cut at Retus' in the shape of an X cut an X-Scissor at him.

The Zangoose had blocked Retus' attack with great speed. He was shocked at how fast he was. Their claws both clashed and forced Retus backwards. The force of the attack made him wide open and was directly hit by the Zangoose's X Scissor. "Herk!" He muttered in pain. This Zangoose seemed to have an idea that Retus might have had something to do with being corrupt.

"I'm not Corrupt... I still have a mind and soul!" He retorted back, Remembering he was still a pesuedo corrupt Pokemon. His wristbands were protected by a similar aura as the other anti corruption items the other pokemon had in their possession. "Guess its proper to introduce myself!" He yelled while preparing an attack. "I'm known as Retus. I'd like your name as well if you have one!" He used Hone Claws once more and dashed toward the Zangoose using blinding speed with Faint attack.

-------------

Alaska succesfully freed Leigh from the grasp of the Corrupt Carnivine, and had even tied them up into one spot. For now, They were victorious against them. "Thanks for the save there. I gotta watch myself." Right after Alaska asked Leigh what should be done with the trapped pokemon, One of them had roared in Alaska's face. Leigh could feel the vibration from the sound of the roar, but it was mostly Directed to Alaska.

"HELP ME JANICE!" She screamed as she hid behind a tree. Leigh glanced back and forth at the Carnivine and Alaska. "Um... Alaska? Are you alright?" He asked with a worried tone.Leigh kept a close eye on the corrupt pokemon. He was prepared to hurt their minds if they attempted an escape. Leigh would have asked who Janice was but it really wasn't a good time to start learning about someones history.

"Cruor," he said after he had skid back from the attack, his body smoking from the brunt of the blow, grimacing from the pain. "Though honestly, it doesn't matter if you're a corrupt or not. You'll join the others."

He lifted up his claws which began to glow again and rushed towards him, his claws attempting to cut into him. "Heh. Mind. Soul. Just words. What else matters when in the end all that truly counts is POWER?" Screaming power, his claw began to glow green again and sliced at Retus.

Retus barely dodged the slice that time. He was curious of what was going on with Cruor's body. Everytime he was hit by an attack, It gave off smoke as if he were just burnt by a fire attack. And that green glow... As curious as Retus got, That would only distract him. Giving off a smirk, Retus retorted to Cruor's comment about power. "Power...Hmm... I take you hit the gym and missed the Library then eh?" He taunted. Retus's eyes began to glow white as he sharpened up his claws again.

"Um... Alaska? Are you alright?" Leigh asked, sounding worried. Alaska realized what she just did and quickly came out of her hiding spot. "Yes!" she replied wholeheartedly. The Carnivine struggled to get loose, but Alaska quickly dove in and used Ice Punch on the leader. "If you cooperate nicely, we won't hurt you," Alaska told them. She looked at Retus and the Zangoose. She couldn't hear what they were saying, but she did hear the Zangoose scream, "POWER!" as he sliced at Retus with a glowing green claw.

This guy probably had a bone to pick with Retus- like most Pokémon who met him did. Retus' sly grin was pretty aggravating until you got used to it. Or so it was to Alaska. The Zangoose looked pretty hot-tempered though, so maybe he was attacking upon impulse. Alaska ran over to them without thinking and exclaimed, "Who are y-" she cut herself off, realizing what a stupid question it was at a moment like this. She bent her knees slightly, preparing to leap away from any attack that the Zangoose might direct at her. This wouldn't end well if they angered him any more than he already was.

Leigh gave off a confused look once Alaska moved from her hiding spot. The corrupt Carnivine were taking quite a beating but didn't seem intimidated at all. They were corrupt after all. Their soul and emotions were all set to pure rage. Nethertheless, they stayed put after thier leader was once again ice punched by Alaska. The main threat now was this Zangoose fellow. Both retus and Zangoose were having a conversation during their battle. The only words he was able to hear were Corrupt, Mind, And something about power.

Alaska joined the battle and stood with her knees bent. While leigh was wise in picking his fights, He wasn't going to escape this one anytime soon. Leigh floated over to the distant left of where the Zangoose was standing. "I dunno who you think you are, but we're kind of in a rush. Your outnumbered buddy." Leigh said as he set up a reflective barrier around himself. The corrupted substance in Leigh was swirling around him as if it were excited about something...

-----------
Retus kept glaring at Cruor deeply. A large staredown was taking place. He immediately noticed that Alaska and Leigh had joined the battle. More help was always nice against hotheads like these. Fortunately, This guy seemed to have no knowledge of Retus' stats as a wanted criminal so he was still good for now.

"The blob does make a point. Your outnumbered." He said, while adjusting his wristbands once more. Retus' eyes continued to glow with a bright white color. His hands were burning in a dark aura.

"I may very well be out numbered," The Zangoose said, smirking all the while as his claws once more opened, glowing this time with a white light. "But so called warriors had me outnumbered too. They, and their villages...all met the same fate." Grinning, lifting his claws up and watching as the light reflected the malice, the insanity in his eyes.

"As shall you all." And without another word, without any kind of provocation, he immediately leapt at Alaska, his claws bared as he stabbed downwards at her head.

"Your thoughts for your family are rather strong." Hirotaro said. "You also seem dedicated to finding someone."

Chunk listened as the Lucario spoke. It was true; he was in a journey in search for someone; he knew the Lucario could know it, given their abilities; yet he remained silent, staring at the window.

"There is a spring down below, which eases pain in the body quite well. If you're up to it, you might find your way down there..."

The Shinx nodded and started walking towards the exit, only to stop there and momentarily turning his head back.

"It's my family's life that's at stake." He finally said. "And I'll do anything to find them."

And with that, he walked off, going down a set of stairs to try and find the spring.

Alaska quickly leapt backwards, the Zangoose's claw just swishing in front of her face. She immediately ran forward again and attempted to hit him with a Brick Break, going as fast as she possibly could. This Zangoose meant business. By the sound his claws made when they sliced through the air, his strongest quality was probably his attack. Alaska had a somewhat powerful attack too, but her strong point would always be her speed. She knew she would be a lot stronger and faster as a Weavile, but that was one of the very few Pokémon that Alaska hated. She would learn to be a better fighter as a Sneasel, and she would never evolve even if she was threatened with death.

Retus immediately reacted to Cruor's attack against Alaska. She was fortunately able to dodge and counter with brick break. From what Cruor had just told Retus, He had been involved in genocide once or twice before. They were facing a Murderer? Losing was certainly not an option this time around. Though, Retus had been involved in similar incidents before, besides the fact the victims were subject to corruption. Retus moved in with faint attack and attempted to stick his claws right into Cruor's back.

-------------------

Leigh Focused on the Zangoose who was about to be ganged up on by both Alaska and Retus. Leigh strengthened his barrier and moved in to use psyshock on the murderous Zangoose. He seemed crazy enough to be heavily effected by a blow to the mind.

Hirotaro watched the Shinx, known to him as Chunk and (Vitrus?) walk with some difficulty out of the room.

When Shinx was out, Hirotaro sighed. He didn't mind if explorers had personal goals during missions, but sometimes personal goals took over what really mattered. Both Layne and Chunk had said they'd do anything to find who they looked for. And that's what worried Hirotaro. He only hoped they had the mindset to know that there was more than their loved one's at stake.

"God be with them...."
he thought to himself.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Layne meanwhile had once again let himself free drift in the spring. His back was starting to feel a bit better, as were his legs. His left arm, well, it would definitely take longer to heal, as the scar was rather nasty. That ariados had gotten him pretty good. Any deeper, and Layne probably could have had a problem with blood loss.

He sighed, and put his arm down, as he had been massaging it. His feet and tail were like weights, dangling inches off the spring bottom. The collar on his neck, kept him afloat, and Layne wasn't afraid to doze off, knowing it's function would keep him from drowning....well.....for the most part. It was not a good idea to go sleeping for too long. He closed his eyes, wondering how his collar could take the beatings it took sometimes.

Ever since he had become an explorer, and had fallen the times he did, the collar along with the rest of his body had gone to hell and back. Now he knew his body was durable to an extent, but his collar sometimes just fascinated him. He didn't know if his collar was made of something other than skin, but never once had it been punctured, or damaged to the point where it couldn't work. And Layne was thankful for that.

His thoughts also changed when he saw (if you have him find the spring) Chunk come to the spring area. Layne offered a small smile, "Didn't expect to see you on your feet this early..."

Chunk distractedly went down the set of stairs, lost in his own thoughts. Why did that Lucario, Hirotaro, apparently, strike him as imposing?
Or maybe imposing just wasn't the right word; but something about the Lucario made Chunk's fur stand up from head to tail.
And his interest in knowing about his family...

No, he had to shake it off. The guild master was offering a place to stay and a place to relax and eat; the least Chunk could do in retribution was keep his mouth shut. Who knew... maybe Hirotaro was a key in his journey. Or maybe just a setback.

Whichever was the good choice, he didn't care; right now, all he wanted - and for the first time in quite a while, actually desired - was the warmth of the springs. If rumours about the waters of the springs not far from Treasure Town were to be trusted, then this spring could very well be his best alternative.

Before he noticed, he was already standing at the water's edge, looking down at the blurry surface. He couldn't see his reflection.

"Didn't expect to see you on your feet this early..." He suddenly heard someone say; raising his head, he saw Layne was already in the springs, smiling at him.

"To tell the truth..." Chunk started, walking slowly into the springs to soak himself in the water very slowly. It stung a bit at first, mainly on the leg with the uncovered scar, while the other leg had no problem, as if it wasn't even wounded. As he walked away from the shallow area, he could hear himself sigh in comfort. "Me neither..."

For a moment, there seemed to be no problems; no invasion, no corruption, no guild, no missing parents, no mission; nothing. Just... perfect.
Which is when the pain kicked in, and he knew he couldn't keep ignoring it. It was nothing serious, actually a very weak sign of pain, but strong enough to feel it.

"...so you're also on a different mission." He suddenly started, speaking to Layne. "You're not just here to fight corruption."

Layne closed his eyes, and his smile faded away. So he did know...to an extent. Maybe it was best? Who knew. Though Layne didn't always join teams who had a leader, Chunk was technically the leader. Perhaps it was best for him to know. At his young age, he may not have completely understood how Layne felt about the whole situation, but keeping it secret may hurt them in the long run.

"Her name is Autumn," Layne said, "and she means the world to me."

Layne's mind was wandering through various memories as he spoke. Memories of their first meet (which wasn't all that friendly), the days they spent on bad terms, and the days, they finally made up and became as close as they did. Good times.

"She's one of the best explorers I know, and her heart for exploration, knows no boundaries. She's going to be an amazing guildmaster someday, I can feel it. She has ways of exploring, that have just...shocked me. And her company sometimes, even when I am in the most horrid of moods, will absolve anything bad about the day..."

Layne drifted against a stone wall. The water beneath him was maybe a good 15 feet deep or greater.

"She came with my partner, Pyro, to help investigate why this all was happening, and, well, she knows how to take care of herself. Pyro volunteered to go with her, mainly because, I don't always venture outside Treasure Town. I'm not afraid to, but I'm more comfortable.....where I live and work. When I got word that Pyro was injured, I came as quick as possible."

Layne sighed. Chunk had seen Pyro before he was sent home. "If she's in trouble, I am gonna make sure she gets out of there............or die trying."

Cruor would have been able to counter Retus' blow, had it not been for the annoying little Psyshock caused him to lock up, grunting before howling in pain as the claws sank into his back. Shaking the Sableye, he turned to the Solosis, a murderous look in his eyes.

"You annoying little..." He snarled, charging quickly at the little blob.

"Leigh!" Flare shouted as he rushed forward, light covering his body as he slammed into the Zangoose's gut with a tackle. It looked like it did no damage, however, and only served to stop the charging Zangoose for a moment. Looking down at the Tepig, he lifted up both claws and stabbed them down directly at his head.

The Zangoose had gotten out of Retus' claws after the effective teamwork of both Alaska and Leigh. He gave off a murderous glare to Leigh after his psyshock did him in. "Leigh! Watch out!" Retus yelled to him. Retus wouldn't be able catch up to the Zangoose in time to help Leigh. He could only hope he would hold out well.

-------------------

Leigh was relieved that his attack was able to help both Alaska and Retus perform their attack successfully. The only problem was Leigh was the next target. He wasn't as fast as any of them and with this Zangoose's speed, He'd never be able to dodge it. As the Zangoose charged toward him, All Leigh could do was close his eyes in fear. Fortunately, Flare stepped in and charged right into the Zangoose's gut. However, Now Flare was the main target. "Ah! No!" Leigh thought out loud as he used psycho shock to halt him once more.

-----------------------

"Flare!" Felecia exclaimed just before he was about to be struck by he murderous Zangoose's claws. Without a second thought, She bit of courage struck in her as she used quick attack in an attempt to shove Zangoose away and throw his aim off. She prayed that she would get her team out of this mess no matter what.

Flare was immediately regretting his rather suicidal charge almost immediately, closing his eyes as he waited for the blade like Claws to puncture his brain and kill him right then and there. But thankfully, his team was right there, just as he hoped they would.

The Psyshock once more seemed to shaken the Zangoose just as bad as it did before, wincing heavily. What saved Flare was Felecias intervention, knocking the Zangoose away after hitting him in the head. With a cry, the Zangoose backed away. Even for someone of his skill, he wouldn't be abl to take on all four of them. Weak though they may be, they were still pesting little things. And Retus was the big problem as well.

He turned his attention from the three team mates to Retus, It almost looked like his eyes had turned another color all together from the rage.

Retus slowly walked toward Cruor. He had a large smirk on his face. Victory was within his reach. "Kehehehe... so much for all that talk about power huh?" He said as he sharpened his own claws once more. They were once again glowing with a dark aura. "Shadow hold..." Retus whispered as he used the attack on Cruor. Cruor became trapped in a inverted colored ball of dark energy, as if he were frozen in time.

"I'd like to make a deal with you. We can finish you off right here and now, Or you and your buddies can go on your way and admit defeat. I recommend the second option. Your pretty fun to fight actually. Kehehehe..." He laughed sinisterly as he stared coldly into the trapped pokemon's eyes with a blue glow.

Zangoose was trapped in Retus' Shadow Hold after everybody delivered a flurry of attacks at him. His eyes seemed to change color in his rage. "He's gotcha now, fuzzy," Alaska muttered under her breath. "I'd like to make a deal with you. We can finish you off right here and now, Or you and your buddies can go on your way and admit defeat. I recommend the second option. Your pretty fun to fight actually. Kehehehe..." Retus laughed sinisterly as his glowing, icy blue stare locked with the Zangoose's color shifting eyes.

Alaska disappeared and reappeared next to the Zangoose with the help of Faint Attack, but didn't strike. "Whatcha gonna choose?" she asked in an upbeat yet callous tone. She leapt over to the other side of the Zangoose, using his head as a stepping stone. "I would pick number two, as Shadow Boy said." She admired her claw and casually looked back up at the Zangoose with a mild smirk.

Bruno, Anthony, and Osha walked through the woods, until they heard the commotion. Sounded like a fight. There was several things it could be. Corrupt pokemon did not always get along, and in blind rage, they could turn on each oter, get extremely territorial, and fight each other, possibly sometimes to the death. Perhaps an exploration team that had missed the escort, was in some trouble. Or for all Bruno knew, it coulda been just fine, and two or more pokemon were just practicing.

Osha's ears perked. "It sounds pretty bad. It doesn't sound like anything light, Master Bruno."
Bruno nodded. "Be ready, both of you."
"What are we gonna do?" Anthony asked.
"What we need to do, Anthony. Check the situation, and if we need to intervene, we will do so."

They made their way to the area, and finally saw combat. One of the faces Bruno, and apparantly Osha and Anthony immediately recognized, was a Zangoose, by the name of Cruor. Osha and Anthony must have recognized it because they seemed to slow, and fall behind Bruno. runo's eyes hardened on the face. When Cruor was in combat, that meant someone was usually in some trouble.

"Stay behind me." he told Anthony and Osha. Both were good fighters, but they were not ready to take an outlaw as deadly as Cruor.

Bruno and the two nervous students came closer. Bruno saw Cruor's two hard-headed teammates as well. SOmtimes he wondered why they still tagged along with Cruor.....or why Cruor even let them tag along.

When he approached, it seemed as though the combat had settled to an extent, but the side on the defensive was now bugging them to leave. "Like Cruor's gonna do that..." Bruno thought to himself.

He stepped from out of the bushes into the line of sight, his students behind him. He cracked his knuckles. "Well well well...three out.......No......FOUR..." Bruno said, as he recognized yet another outlaw, though not near as threatening as Cruor, yet more crafty, Retus, "...outlaws causing even more ruckus in an area that doesn't need anymore damn ruckus."

Bruno growled, watching for any sudden movement from any of the pokemon, outlaws and exploration teams alike. "The guild would greatly benefit from the bounty on your heads...should I give you a head start, or are things going to get ugly?"
