I hope they would just reconstruct the whole browser while there at it and bring it up to standard.

There are changes in the pipeline so the only thing IE will need are bit torrent support, standards support and Drag 'N Drop tabbed browsing.

What about XHTML?1.1 is it? The one IE sees as a download, not a page. I?m not a webmistress, but I believe there?s a kind of XHTML that IE doesn?t recognize.

That would be a good thing, but I read that Microsoft is going to stop development of IE, because they just can't be bothered making it anymore (something to do with the fact that it's a free download so they don't make money). I'll sign anyway.

If they do that, everyone would be using Firefox. :P

I like Firefox. I actually use Firebird at home, haven't updated it. In any case, the idea for this petition is sound, but it's well-known that people rarely pay attention to these online petitions, even if they have that many signatures. The better thing to do would be to provide printable petition sheets that can be signed and mailed to one person, who could then present the petition to the right people.

The next IE is only going to be in Longhorn, from what I understand. I?ll be nineteen or eighteen by then. X_x

Yeah, it is something like that. Integrated into the shell, and you can't download it. So if you don't have Longhorn you will have to use something else. Firefox/bird is better anyway, faster and smaller footprint, tabbed browsing and doesn't crash as much. XD

They are stopping releases of stand alone updates, not development, new versions will come with new versions of Windows and service packs.

It already is intergraded into the shell and everyone will have Longhorn one day. Firefox is the same speed assuming Windows properly automatically optimized the TCP/IP stack, last check Firefox was a bigger download, tabbed browsing is in MyIE2 or Microsoft Document Explorer 7.0 and hopefully a future version of IE such as IE 7.0 and IE doesn't crash period for me, you either have a bad plugin or Windows is messed up, that or you don't have XP.

I wished IE had tabbed browsing tooo. ^_^...

I think there is a plugin called Crazy Browser or something that adds tabs to IE, though. I don't have XP, I have 98SE which is supposed to be stable o_O But it crashes all the time XD

98SE is not a very stable operating system. Windows NT susposed to be more stable... but ask Kairi. i'm not a Computer guru.. ^_^

Last check, the Windows 9x kernal crashed more than Sam the driving cat.

By the way, Windows 98SE was the most stable version of the extremely unstable Windows 9x kernal. Upgrade to Windows XP.

Er... just a note. =P Not everyone can instantly upgrade to Windows XP. I've been asking my dad to upgrade (since on the older computer we have 2000 Professional and ME on the newer computer), but he won't buy the software because it's too expensive. So I've gotta make do with it. Telling someone to upgrade to it probably won't help very much. @_@;

Windows 2000 Professional is decent. ^_^.... it's better than Me atleast...

Windows 2000 is Windows NT 5.0.
Windows XP is Windows NT 5.1.
Windows ME should never have seen the light of day, get it off your computer, maybe you could get your dad to use the WinME PC more so he sees how much it crashes and then say that Windows XP fixes that.
