Poem Of The Week 3
Competition
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Introduction
Welcome to the Poem Of The Week 3 contest. Hosted by Astinus and myself. The original contest was hosted by Abnegation and the second by Sweet Jasmine. Now let me explain what this competition is all about. This competition is for those who wish to enter their poems which comply with the corresponding theme, so that they can have some recognition for their amazing talent! Remember that the Moderator of this section will be supervising. If you win Poem Of The Week, you will win an emblem along with the choice of the next week's theme and the option to co-host.
Poem of the Week is a great way to test your skills in the poetry world. You'll also get to see what other people think of how you express your emotions using words.
Please make sure to read and follow all Other Writing and PokeCommunity rules as posted below before participating.
Rules and Guidelines
- Remember to keep within the Writing rules, the Poem of the Week rules and of course the PC forum wide rules. Also make sure that you post your poem within the timeline which is posted within "The Theme of the Week" section below.
- First and foremost, NEVER plagiarize work. I will know; I check all poems, even for lyrics. I understand there may be coincidences where your poetry looks like someone else's and that's fine, but make sure it's all your own work.
- You may only post 1 poem relevant to the given theme of the week. If the theme is "anything" just feel free to post any type of poem, with any theme.
- Please only post good feedback on other entries within this thread. By feedback I mean good comments on why you like them rather than full criticism. Although it's always nice to post in the thread of the original poem too (if there is one).
- When submitting a poem either post a link to the thread that hosts the poem (must be on PC) or post the poem within the thread, and I will put it up on the first post with the others.
- This is a judging contest, there will be no votes. HOWEVER you may Pm me if you would like to express your love for a particular poem and I will take it into consideration.
- You may post to state that you will be posting a poem and entering. Asking questions and the likes is also fine, all discussion may go within the thread.
- If you are posting a poem please keep it nicely layed out with as little formatting as possible. It's better we don't have big bright text and numerous BB codes. It just makes it a little easier on the eyes. Thank you.
Credits to Abnegation for the original introduction and rules. Also credits to Sweet Jasmine for her edits.

Anything?
I sat and pondered as I stared at the monotonous screen, how could I describe anything?
The opposite of Void? Anything that is there, anything of matter.
Or is anything different to that?
Emotions and Feelings and Oppinions
And Love.
They're all anything, but not visible to the eye.
Not the naked eye.
But could it really be anything?
Like a lucious green field, lying under the caressing Sun?
Or the melodic pulse of Music gliding into my Ear and stimulating my Brain?
And then, i eventually came to a sudden halt.
A conclusion.
Anything is too broad a topic.
Too big.
Too expansive.
Anything can take you
Anywhere.

Spoiler:
Thunder is heard, and lightning flash
As red rain flows in boiling splash
This storm is far from normal, it lies inside
Of the deepest trench of my mind.
I build up walls so it can stop,
But it only flows faster, shaking the prop
That keeps me clear and sane.
'Twould be my only bane...
If this storm broke loose from constraints,
So leaving others for it to taint.
And as it nearly breaks free,
I put up my last defense, for now at least
This storm I fear; it rises on its own,
I feel like I should be all alone,
So to never see the light of day,
So to never another slay.

Spoiler:
Stop, look, and listen to my speech,
About the changes of a Pokémon we know,
I'll describe the different steps each,
Please listen to my words and follow.
We first spy upon a Caterpie,
A larvae-like creature that shoots out its thread,
Once it wraps itself in its chrysalis we see,
A new Pokémon in its stead.
A Metapod it has now become,
But it's growth is not quite complete,
When it works hard and developes some,
It will become a beautiful Butterfree.
Honey is its most collected prize,
Honey is what they obtain,
You won't believe your eyes,
It can collect in the rain.
And now you know and can see,
the awe-spiring metamorphosis,
Of a little Caterpie.

Eternal slumber.
The solemn cry for freedom.
Our earthly bodies
Trap a spirit who waits for
Its very first flight.

Spoiler:
Speeding fast, through the sky at night
With stars in the unending place.
Traveling the speed of light,
Traveling the endless space
Long as the fiery tail can last,
Shining through the sky above
I've never saw a creature as fast.
Not even the ones I care and love.
Shooting as a fallen star,
Like a bullet through the air.
Seems so close, yet so far.
Faster the the fastest hare.
Soon leaving my small window,
Leaving where it is free.
Leaving a trail where its tail once glow,
Saying goodbye to me
With stars in the unending place.
Traveling the speed of light,
Traveling the endless space

Spoiler:
I sing for absolution, We want change
They cast distractions to avert our eyes
This world's pollution will begin to rise
Derailed by passion, strung by lunacy
This sphere has been a home to all we love
We have a purpose which cant fall again
Just one more sunset and the moon will rise
War stricken land will feel pain once again
New lust, gunshot cancer kills all love
This war cannot be justified by change
The scars will heal but not our tainted eyes
To fight for peace is just lunacy
The answer is there to take but again
People strive for sucess and rarely change
Thier ways are lost with lunacy
Abnegation is but dirt in our eyes
We work together when it's love
We search for wealth so our noses may rise
This pain can only lead to lunacy
The clock of despair strikes twelve, peace must rise
It's too late, they have starved to their eyes
A four foot coffin meets the ground again
They don't need your coins, what they need is change
Has humainty lost it's will to love?
You lost your trust in them, you lost your love
But hate, in your heart, brought lunacy
To kill an innocent, does it bring change?
As you come to terms, guilt begins to rise
You cant shake the fear, so you kill again
You took a life, there's nothing in your eyes
It's hard to know the joy before our eyes
But life is twisted with more than just love
We accept that life is tough so again
We just let our minds drive to lunacy
It's nice to know love when turmoil rises
Absolution will come, so accept change.
We all change, before our misguided eyes
Hate will rise, but we will make room for love
When the world falls to lunacy, live, laugh, again.

Alone in the corners of her mind
Where dusty thoughts stay covered by
Veils of lies and shrouds of her pride
She keeps me tucked away
Here in the forgotten attic room
I rattle hoping to escape soon
From chains of the past rusting at last
Maybe I can break loose
Heart of hearts, what lies within
I am everything that she can be
I've been buried, I'm hidden
I am called "personality"
If she finds herself, I'll be set free
If she embraces individuality

Spoiler:
The click-clack of the clock
As its hands spin around
Signals the passage of time,
Though decides it not.
The face hides amidst the hands
As seconds, minutes, and hours go by.
As the days seem to fly by
Faster spins the little clock,
Spinning along its tiny hands
Going by 'round and around.
But this is decided not
By only the passage of time.
Only decided by time,
Life keeps going by,
And stays in one place not.
We look for wisdom to the clock
Thinking its wisdom will come around
And into our minds, moving our hands.
We see its hands through our hands,
Looking to it for the time;
We expect them to always go around
As all the hours go by.
We cannot gain wisdom from the clock,
For wisdom has it not.
If our lives go on or not
Is decided only by our hands,
Not by the spinning of the clock,
Or even by the passage of time.
For time keeps flying by,
Not waiting for us to come around.
For when the time comes around,
But we listen to it not,
It leaves and passes by,
Not taking us in its hands.
For by nature the way of time
Is unkown even to the clock.
For as around the clock its hands
Do not spin as on goes time,
But rather in the will of the clock.
As its hands spin around
Signals the passage of time,
Though decides it not.

When time leaves us, times cruel joke
A man's ambition gone up in smoke.
So many things left undone, unsaid.
He put them off but now he's dead.

Live your life do what you can,
So you don't wind up like this poor dead man.

Tick, tock, tick, tock.
I'm just sitting, staring at the clock.
Minutes go by, but it felt like an hour.
The squirrel's stuck inside, without much power.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
I'm just staring, waiting for the clock.
I'm drinking lemonade, but it's too sour.
I must wait 'till the end of this hour.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
I'm waiting, waiting for twelve o'clock
Still 18 minutes left of this hour,
I can take 18 minutes of sour.
Tick, tock, tick, tock
It is almost twelve o'clock.
The squirrel had me empowered.
So the sour drink, I had devoured.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
It is twelve o'clock!
No more lemonade that's too sour,
The squirrel bursts out with ultimate power!
Clap, clap, clap, chatter.
Laughter's all that matter.
The squirrel claps its nuts in joy
Making me laugh, and my friend Roy.

Spoiler:
Time flies,
But I don't know it.
Everyone cries,
But they can't show it.
The clock is still tick-tick-ticking on,
Soon the people who used to visit are now all gone.
The monitor keeps a steady beat,
It doesn't fade or falter,
Hope it still keeps.
But what hope is there?
For a man who's half gone,
The time keeps it's ticking,
like an active bomb
This ticking, from this forsaken clock
Please, please, oh please! - just make it stop,
I may not be able to move my limbs,
But the sound still finds its way in.
It's a sound that makes a mute man scream,
it would make a deaf man thank his lucky stars,
All of this progress I've made,
or so they say,
I can hear talk of 'getting closer?'
Closer to what,
is all I can ask,
My recovery, my life?
Or perhaps my death?
This ticking, I fear,
Has made me insane,
although I can't be sure,
All I know is that this ticking is the cause,
I can just no longer endure,
So goodbye, I can't hold on anymore,
I'm sorry, but I need to let go,
Who would welcome back an old man,
Gray hair, and full grown?
They'd all be strangers,
and I know they wouldn't welcome me
This pain, this insanity,
It's too much to bare, so goodbye,
I'm letting go,
So goodbye,
But I don't know it.

Spoiler:
High upon my shelf,
Lies a small clock,
A special clock,
A magical clock.
Whenever its hands are turned,
Time itself is altered,
It does what mankind has yearned,
The day can be haltered.
Resting by my books,
Is a small clock,
A wondrous clock,
A powerful clock.
A normal clock you might say,
No, it contains power,
You can skip to any day,
Any minute, any hour.
On its usual place,
Sits an old clock,
A different clock,
A wonderful clock.
Turn the hands shown on its face,
And access any time,
Raise or drop the time's pace,
Try my clock so sublime.

Simple knowledge is key, key to all.
Lack of knowledge: darkness to dread.
Seeing is believing, the truth being shed.
Something bright and holy, a man will enthrall.
To know is light, so it's said.
But so often, with the truth not spread,
No one will believe, but be in pall.
Lack of knowledge: darkness to dread.
But to believe without sight is important to tread,
Rememb'ring what others will not recall.
To know is light, so it's said.
Disbelief goes nowhere, seemingly dead,
Only doing what puts them in thrall.

Light is belief and knowledge in stead.

The weight of the gloom falling down with a crash
The angry people go around feeling bold, acting rash.
Sadness, anger, hatred around us they swirl
Trying to drown out all the light from this world.

There is always a light with love for us all.
There will always be one in this world with the light in their heart
So the love from this world will never depart.

Lets light together as one, hand in hand.

I sit in the back seat of her car,
and each streetlight that shines in.
makes it seem like we're going so far,
when the clock only reads 12:07.
I still can't open my eyes,
She must have found me passed out at the bar again.
Drug me to her car; she dealt with my lies,
In this life she was my best friend.
On her finger was her ring,
In my pocket was mine.
As some band on the radio began to sing,
She flicked it off, and hers did shine.
I awoke with a start,
the car-horn blaring.
and did jump my heart,
when I look up, I was staring.
There was a Semi a mere few feet away,
and the only words I ever did say,
were,
"I love you."
and each streetlight that shines in.

Spoiler:
Celestial brothers,
One of day, one of night,
That is what they are.
They make a cycle,
One of twenty-four hours,
And repeats always.
The Sun rules the day,
Up from the east it rises,
And sinks to the west.
It creates blue skies,
It can pierce through clouds with rays,
And provide us warmth.
The silvery Moon,
Once blackness covers the earth,
The Moon is its light.
The small twinkling stars,
Decorate the ebon skies,
With ancient stories.
Observe the Sun's shine,
Observe the Moon's nightly gleam,
Observe their greatness.

Spoiler:
When you are alone and you hear the cold wind howling,
When no one is with you and the sea is crashing,
When the calm is surrounding, and a small voice inside
Reminds you of our love; with the wind it does ride...
When a voice tells you to return to your love,
When a whisper you hear reminds you of me,
When the thunder is clapping my voice in the rain
And your mind falls into a sad'ning disdain,
Then you will see what you have done,
Then you will know how I feel,
Then you will realise my love for you burns
Like a fire that dances and twirls and turns.
If you can see a great eagle watching you closely,
If you can see the ground beginning to wilt,
If you can see the clouds crying out
And hear them scream my name as they shout.
You then will know that I will love you forever,
You then will know the passion is true,
You then will know this fountain runs deep
With the love that loved you truly; your heart I will keep...

Drops of nothing bounce off the window
In an empty storm, I am hollow.
In a field of scarlet and gold
We first kissed
And I laid you down
In tenderness
We were one.
We are still one
But memories fade through the fog
Be still, as I am still
And breath in the final breath.
Holding my hand, squeezing tightly
You relinquish a hopeful sigh
That says you're there
Like you've always been
By my side.
In a fleeting moment
More flare, more transcendal spark
Than ever before.
The patter you hear now
As you look up
And gaze with a smile, through the cold glass
And breath in the damp smell of flowers.
In an empty storm, I am hollow.

"Dear Mother" by TJgamer
Spoiler:
In the hospital, I was born,
Just moments before the next morn.
My eyes opened and saw the new world,
And yet more things were to be unfurled.
At home, you provided me warmth and love,
And you said my voice was that from a dove.
Throughout the years, I grew to a greater height,
I went to school, and learned how to read and write.
You were proud whenever I did good,
And you always believed that I would.
You lectured me whenever I did wrong,
And helped my heart to be pure and strong.
Many years passed, and now I am almost grown,
My childhood days have gone and swiftly flown.
All these years, you have given me care,
A special thank-you I want to share.
For you have done so much just for me,
And inside, we are both filled with glee.
Even though we may not be with each other,
You are and always will be my caring mother.

The sea is dark, and the caves are deep,
And the threads of light are torn.
This suit I wear is new and clean,
But deep below it's worn.
I speak to you in royal ink,
But it's turning crimson red.
The shreds of time are seeping in,
As memory begins to hide.
It's wilting now like an autumn green,
And becoming petrified.
There's no escape from this world, you know,
For history will repeat.
I've killed these feelings, emotion old,
With a weakly settled blade.
I've brushed the scraps into the pit,
Scraps from this mess you've made.
There are no excuses with you gone,
This hollowed heap you've left behind.
The tower now is burning bright,
It is banished to the lore.
The frame will crumble to the earth,
If you come back for more.
The doors are open, the heat is off,
The rooms are forever bare.
Your affection is seen by everyone,
It comes pouring down like snow.
You can not tell a tale of love,
When you think that you might not know.
Your time will come, my wound, my scar,
Your breath shows in the cold.

Width brings down height's ambitions.
The rain has the storm tell its lies.

Spoiler:
Many, many years ago, in the land of Toolahlay,
I came across a man, old with hair of gray;
These words he spoke to me in muttered speech:
"Seperate all your fruits, never mix an apple and a peach."
I thought and thought, but I could not understand,
So I went along my way in this strange and crazy land.
Then I met a pair of sisters, pretty as can be,
Then they said in unison "Never mix a pear and a lychee."
Then I realized this land was obsessed with fruits,
And that I looked misplaced in my fancy suit.
Then I was tackled by a boy, his face splashed with mud.
"Don't you mix melon and cherry," he said, "It'll be a dud."
Then I saw a smoothie stand in the middle of the road,
Thirst as I was, I stopped and dropped my load.
As I sat on a stool, this advice the owner gave to me:
"Never should you mix honeydew and a strawberry."
I looked at the menu as thouroughly as I could,
Struck with indecision, I then thought I would
Think back to all the advice given straight to me.
I made up my mind, and said very suddenly:
"I'll have a smoothie of apple and pear,"
I then thought "Do I dare?"
Continuing, I said "Put in a little cherry
And please do not forget a ripe strawberry."
He whipped it up with amazing speed,
This refreshing drink did I truly need.
I took one sip, two, four, seven.
Suddenly I realized: I should have ordered lemon.

Spoiler:
Plink, clunk, Plink, clunk,
Went my rusty clock in my trash,
It then sprouted wings,
Rather beautiful things,
But then fell with a loud crash.
I slumped out of bed,
And saw the clock on the ground,
Something was amiss,
I've never seen this,
The hands were improperly wound.
I walked down the halls,
And slumped down the uneven stairs,
In the dining room,
My tree was in bloom,
With purple-green striped pears.
For my breakfast,
I take the pears off the tree,
Then peel the skin,
Three layers thin,
And eat it with my tangy tea.
After that was done,
I went upstairs and into the bathroom,
I put on my suit,
And my lucky boot,
And my scruffy hair I did groom.
I looked at my mirror,
And thought I needed a shave,
I took my shaving cream,
Shaving Goo Supreme,
And my beard came off in one wave.
I stepped out onto the porch,
And took a brief look at my front lawn,
It had wacky creatures,
With very odd features,
I couldn't help but let out a yawn.
I looked to my left,
And saw my butler coloring the rooftops,
He threw balloons filled with paint,
That method is so quaint,
Even if he accidentally drops.
I took out my watch,
And the time was thirteen o' two,
I'd better perk,
And prepare for work,
Or else I might be overdue.
I pushed the button,
On the controller to my old car,
And my car tore,
Through the garage door,
And its inertia went quite far.
My car front was large,
The trunk was raised at an angle,
It had five wheels,
Tires made from eels,
The roof was shaped like a triangle.
I started the car,
It let out a large ba-boom,
It hopped,
And it plopped,
And it started moving, va-room.
This life is dull,
My job at the office is so great,
I need a style,
Not done in a while,
And I may feel up to date.

My cellphone started talking to me
It was an unusual sight
He and I contemplated what we usually see.
I, with Pokemon of flight,
he, with reminders filled with jargon.
I said sorry to my mobile, claiming texts were all the rage
Unfortunately, he claimed I was as lax as a flagon.
I asked my mobile why he was as stiff as a cage,
He presented me with static and turned himself off.

Rapes her, destroys everything she loves.

I left that place not too long ago
Where the plants were in with bloom
and I could practice my cello.
It was the only place I shielded myself from doom
A safe haven, a warm area
Nothing in the world was better
Then curling up, with my wonderful Maria.
The sunset was always a favorite activity,
Sitting at my greatest chair, with the performance vexed
Even then, I was stranded in captivity
The only place I could ever go
Was to and fro
Way back home

He tries to find a single friend
Who will try to make his "life" end.
Is this some sort of awful game?
He cannot remember his name,
It was lost to time in the same
Way as his soul, but now is penned;
A soul is lost...
To what things can this soul acclaim?
Have his deeds ever been proclaimed?
Will there be anyone to send

Eternity where he exclaimed

Spoiler:
Slenderman, Slenderman,
He comes for you at night.
But if he comes for you in day,
You're in for quite a fright.
His face is a blank slate of skin,
Not eye or an ear to be found.
Nor mouth, nose, hair, or the like,
His sight will surely astound.
Plagued with delusions,
Memory loss and such.
Record yourself all day and night,
Or you might forget too much.
With declining health and a camera in grasp,
Do not search for this man.
For if you do, he shall come for you,
and grasp you in his... hand?
What happens to his victims is unknown,
He may eat them or take them away.
But if you see him standing perfectly still,
You really shouldn't stay.
Oh, Slenderman, Slenderman,
Lend me your ears.
See me and smell me,
I'll tell you my fears.
Do not look into this,
Forget this strange lore.
For Slenderman will get you,
Why, he's right outside your door...
He comes for you at night.

Another one has hit the news
Another one is gone
I sigh, I stare, I breathe in deep
The pain will not last long
News spreads fairly quickly
In a small town such as here
Where families are closely linked
But all riddled with fear
Do not go out after dark;
They'd drill into us all
For something, someone out there just
May shove and make you fall
The sealine shore looks promising
The coast is full of fish
But every day's a risk we'll take
Thing upon no-one you'd wish.
You may ask what's the danger
But you'd not get a reply
They'd simply point and whisper
Murmuring, 'oh, why'
They pointed at the island
In the middle of the lake.
If you were unlucky, unfortunatly,
Your life one day it'll take.
So do not venture in a boat
It's far a waste of you
Because one day the lake may take
Your boat and your life too.

"Gwen of Eve" by Rowin
Spoiler:
Gwen of Eve lights the fires. Her callused hands flick and whimper as she mends and commandeers new additions to her Reliquary of the Lost. Across silk clad hallways, a dim glow offers salvation to those who've strayed from home. Curious souls trail behind, entranced by the ghostly visage of her shadowy silhouette, before being lost within the labyrinth of corridors of her estate. True to her word, those who foolishly lose themselves within the darkness are always met with the grace of her light. Always she aids, but never twice. And those unfortunate enough to have strayed again are lost forever. Doomed to hear the ominous hum of Gwen of Eve but never the see the light.
