It's July 4th right now and the GT8 starts on July 15th so we have about a week for us to start organizing. I would say the best way to start off the discussion for the "Pokemon Anime Snapshot" would be the theme. I know rules usually come first but if we think up a theme before the rules then it might help us work on the rules much easier unless you guys like it the other way around that's fine by me. We can work on prizes last since the main important is the theme and the rules. What do you guys think the theme should be for this GT8? I don't know if the Anime Snapshot was in the last Get together event since I haven't joined around that time.

Well since it is a got together and this GT8 represents the community as a whole (as a team, community.) Why not have a theme on friendship or teamwork? As there are many strong friendships here that have been formed, and coming together as a whole shows how we can all have fun with one another. It's just a suggestion, but I really thought it'd suit a get together.

Friendships... Getting together... Teamwork... these are, indeed, a great fit for the event. To spice things up, why not also insert something completely out-of-whack for one day?

That could work, besides it could be a 'mystery day' which could play a much higher significance in regards to the prize or scoring for example. (I don't know how you will score the event so,)

    An example:

The normal days could be worth 1 point.
While the mystery day could be worth 3.

That would send the scoring a bit too much on the mystery side. Is it... OK?

As for the surprise theme, maybe it should just have a very little bit of relationship to the normal theme?

Speaking of snapshots themselves... Do we need captioning? What should be the minimum size? To what extent can images be not in a spoiler box? (Maximum size)

I think the scoring should be worked on last but the idea for the Mystery day sounds good enough for me. For the Mystery day score however, maybe it can be worth 2 points instead of 3?

Relationships as in some shipping moments?

I think the Maxium Image size would be around 318 x 172. Example:
    Spoiler:
That should be a good maximum size. We wouldn't want the image to be too big. They could use either Tinypic or Imageshack to change the size if they have to. As for captioning, I don't think we really need it.

I love the idea of friendship and teamwork too, and shipping, I guess these would go great in rounds or something along those sorts.

Well, that seems a little too small and specific to be honest. Maybe just 500 x 500 so it's easy to find a good image and no hassle resizing.

I think an image host is a good idea, as a lot of sites don't like their images being hotlinked. So how about a rule on no hotlinking?

Oh, no pictures from banned episodes. Like James, with those...

Oh nice catch. I'll add that in for sure. So far we have,

    Rules:

    ~Image size must be 500 x 500
    ~No Hotlinking allowed
~The image must follow the theme
~ No Screenshots from Banned Episodes!
    ~Images must be appropriate!

Should we add a link to Bulbapedia of banned episodes?

Might as well add it, just to eliminate any chance of someone entering one without knowing that the image is from a bnned episode.

Yup, add it. Does it also apply for episodes that were postponed indefinitely (the unaired 23rd and 24th episodes of Best Wishes)?

I wouldn't say so, as they aren't really banned, and will be aired at a later date. The only images available will be the preview ones anyway, which I guess can be accepted.

That would work, too. Hmm... as for the image size... How about something like this?

(First things first - are they going to be posted in the thread?)

If image size is less than 500x500, no spoiler tags needed.
If image size is more than 500x500, spoiler tags with proper warning needed.

I don't really think it matters to be honest, 500 x 500 is enough anyway it's only snapshots really, but I'll support the idea if needs be.

I'm not too sure about them being posted in the thread. How about the contestants send them in PM's to each (or one) of us, we'll decide who goes on to the next rounds, posting the winning pictures and users in the thread for each round?

But wouldn't it be good to showcase of people's snapshots. Just to spice it up a bit; make things more interesting. I mean, why keep the snapsots secret; it's not like this event is the WTP one.

Like I said, we could showcase them after we've seen them, showing winners, and the ones that sadly didn't go through. I have a feeling if they post them in this thread then others would see them and find better ones really.

There should be no problem in posting the submissions directly in the thread. To me... PMing would only increase submission privacy, and nothing else. It may even burden our PM inboxes. I think submitting by PM is a bad idea by itself. Remember, what fun is it if the screenshots and captions are not public? I have seen screenshot captioning threads, and I noticed that these are almost always public.
